hello friends!!

today has been a whirl wind!! my oldest son ended up having a seizure today at school, this is the second one in a row this week!!! he is doing alright, but it is still nerve racking. on my way to the school to pick him up, i was snacking on almonds....i am sure i ate over the 15 allowed for the day!

so, i am feeling really good on this woe, i wish i would have given it a chance long ago!!!!!!! i remember my girlfriend telling me about it, and how much she loved it.....this is what i have eaten so far.

B:1C nf plain yogourt w/ sf vanilla and 1.5TBS anp
tea
S: lg can of V8, almonds.
L: roasted chicken w/ 1TBS ff ranch, steamed broccolli

I know i need to concentrate more on my water intake and vegie consumption.....i bought some of that SBD flavored powder for bottled water, and reallyl like it!

tomorrow am, i am going to my first ever water aerobics class!!!! it is sooo early. (i am not a morning person!) but, i have heard it is a great resistace workout. anybody tried this type of exercise before? i usually just do the treadmill and weights.....never been big on the classes at the gym.

does anyone reccommend TURBO JAM?? heard it was good for a home exercise routine.

later!!

About half of them are beyond redemption, downright charred.

Maybe I should stay out of the kitchen for the rest of the day...

I just spit water all over the computer. What a visual.

Luisa! Poor you! Were any of the chickpeas good? LOL

Teresa- Hang in there!

Cookie- That is awesome that you are sharing American culture w/DS. Good job on working out! There are worse things you could have eaten than that protein bar!

Vivian- Sorry to hear about DS!

Susan!

Turtle- I'm doing at least 2 weeks of Phase 1. I think other people on here are also doing 2.

Rose and Rachel-

Just did an hour of callanetics. Feeing good, but sore. Today's eating went well.
B: 2 pieces canadian bacon, 1 HB egg
S: string cheese
L: salad w/grilled chicken, chick peas, italian dressing
S: 15 almonds
D: boneless buffalo chicken (no breading) celery, green peppers, blue cheese dressing

Hi ladies!

As usual, I am busy, busy, busy.

Today was a good eating day so far with the exception of a Vanilla Bean Frappucino at Starbucks. It was so warm today and I wanted something cold when I went with my friend, so I gave in. DH didn't last very long on Phase 1 LOL...what a bum. He's been eating the SB breakfast bars for breakfast and WG bread (sandwich) for his lunch. Oh well, at least he tried.

I'm about to pop in my Core Secrets DVD because I haven't exercised in about 3 weeks. I think I'm gonna have to dust it off first .

I'll BBL!

I have to say that I got a good laugh about the exploding garbanzos myself--such an idiotic thing to do. (Rose, hope your computer survived its bath.) This is the second time lately I've forgotten something was cooking because I sat down at the computer and got involved in my work (the last time it was a pan of HB eggs that got boiled dry, ruined the pan). I just bought a kitchen timer, so now I have to remember to set it and bring it in here with me when I put something on to cook.

Dani - the garbanzos I managed to salvage were actually not bad. Very crunchy, reminded me of corn nuts. I will probably try them again.

Vivian - how awful, hope your son is OK. My dog is epileptic and we have lived through many years of seizures, but I can't even imagine how terrible it would be when it's your kid.

Cookie - I'm an American expat in Spain. Do your kids go to a French school or an international one?

I just weighed myself for the first time since I went off track last Friday evening and I'm up 2 lbs. from the 24 total I had lost. Of course, TOM always messes me up in the weight dept., too, so maybe it's not all that bad (I hope).

Yesterday's menu:

B - 1 egg and 2 egg whites, scrambled w/serrano ham, 1 LC light and 1 sm. onion; gazpacho and decaf w/a dash of 2% milk
S - 30 pistachios
L - grilled salmon, herb-roasted asparagus
S - celery w/brie, a few roasted chickpeas
D - minestrone, sm. pc. of steak, glass of red wine

I know I shouldn't have had the wine but DH doesn't drink it and I am not going to let the rest of that bottle of a nice Ribera del Duero go to waste! At least it was only the one glass this time and it didn't lead me further astray.

Today is lunch out with a friend at a menu-of-the-day place, so hopefully there will be something on plan I can eat.

Have a great day, everyone.

Luisa - Hola mi amiga! It is so nice to have another ex pat here. My kids go to public school. They get quite a bit of British and Irish "culture" because that is where all of my friends are from, and in school they teach English but it is British English (some teachers have actually told American kids here that they need to re-learn english because they speak like an American! The nerve! That has, thankfully, not been the case with my kids.) Email me anytime! I'd love to hear some recipes and stuff that you use on this. Is it as difficult for you to find lf cheeses as it is for me? They are getting a bit more common here but they are wicked expensive. But... the french love their cheese. It is as revered as wine here with its own AOC and regulations.

Question - I have had a bit of a stomach bug the past couple of days (diahrea, etc. I know... TMI). Nothing diet related at all. But can anyone suggest some SB friendly foods to eat when you are sick? I'm thinking lots of fresh veggies are not gonna help the cause right now.

Rose - I am really curious about your vegetarian version of SB. I am a meat eater, but I always like to change things up a bit and would love to try a few vegetarian meals/days etc. Where do you get your ideas or is it just your own thing?

Dani - good job on the work out. I have never tried Callanetics. What's it like?

Vivian - oh my. What a stressful day for you. I do understand. My younger sister, my biological mother, and my soon to be ex all have epilepsy, so I can certainly understand to some degree. But there is nothing that ever compares to a mother's concern for her child. Lots of love.

I have no idea what today's menu will be. it is currently 11:30 and I am still lying in bed due to my stomach... so I have not eaten anything yet. (and I was in bed at 9:30 last night)

Hi Cookie - Hope you feel better soon. I have no idea what to tell you on the food. Maybe some scrambled eggs? Also try some chamomile tea if you have any, that always settles my stomach.

Yes, I have an awful time finding low-fat anything here, too, but especially cheese (except FF fresh cheese, that's easy to find). I can get RF mozzarella and cheese slices and Laughing Cow-type wedges and that's it. Most of the time I just use regular cheese, but small amounts. It's also hard to find sugar-free stuff--even sugar-free Jello, for example, isn't available here. So most of my food is pretty simple: mostly grilled or broiled meat or fish, eggs, salads, veggies (and of course my ready-made gazpacho from the supermarket!). Almost no prepared foods apart from that (there aren't that many here anyway).

My son went to an international school where all classes were taught in English (he didn't even speak Spanish when we came here--he was not quite 11). He got a nice blend of literature and history from all over, and the standards were very high (they did the International Baccalaureate). Cost the earth, though.

Cookie- I like Callanetics. It is tough but works all your muscles. It's hard to describe the workout. There is tons of info on the Exercise Board on LCF if you are interested.

Weight is the same this morning. Have a great day everybody!!

Phase 1 Here I Come!

Hi Everyone,

I've been on the beach in the past and had great success. Since then I've been doing my own LC way of eating and have strayed a little and have plateaued . I'm going back to phase 1 on Monday. I will be stocking up on groceries this weekend.

LUISA: You are Hillarious!! I think I may actually try your recipe for garbonzo beans because I like crunchy cornnuts! Hee hee. (I am actually serious) So keep them in the oven on 400 degrees until they start popping. I do have 2 cans and I don't like them plain.

ROSE: You are doing GREAT!!! Yay to you!!

VERO: How was your workout? Sometimes I know it is difficult to get back in the swing of things after it has been a while. I remember when I hadn't worked out for like a month, when I finally went back to the gym I thought I was going to pass out! Keep it up girl...even if it is only 20 minutes or a jog down the street!!

DANI: Doin' good girlie!!

Well, as for me...ugh...yesterday sucked too! For dessert, I ate 2 southbeach bars, (PH 2) AND ricotta with 2 TBS NPB!! Geez...you would think I am on my TOM every day of the week here! Ok...so today is a new day. (why do I keep saying that?) I have every positive intention...I just haven't completed a full few days of PH 1 so my cravings aren't gone! If I can just get past that.

Well, I did weigh myself and I am down a pound! FINALLY...but yet suprising especially because I was a piggy last night!

My MENU SO FAR FOR TODAY:
B: 8 oz NFP yogart, SF syrup
S: 15 almonds

I am going to go to the gym here in a few minutes and then, get this, I think I may go for a hike afterwards in the Burbank Mountains!! I gotta get the giggle out of my booty! It is supposed to be 75 degrees today so that will be perfect for a hike. Oh, and tomorrow, DF, me, and our friends are going to the Rennisance Fair. It will definately be a GREAT walk and a very nice day tomorrow. I won't be tempted by any of the food there. I tried a turkey leg once and they are kinda yucky and scary looking!! PLUS DF doesn't allow me to cheat around him! Good boy! If I can just attach him to my hip 24/7.........well, maybe not....I think I would go a bit crazy!

LADIES: PHASE 1 all the way!!!

Good morning ladies!

Mfit4Me!

Teresa Don't be too hard on yourself, it's not like you pigged out on pizza, chips, and beer. Congrats on the loss!!!

Dani: Thanks, I'm gonna go check out the callanetics info too.

Rose: Woohoo on having a good eating day and getting in some exercise!

Cookie: Don't know what to tell ya as far as good foods to eat, but I hope you feel better!

Luisa: Now that you say they tasted like cornnuts, I will also try your baking method

Yesterday's menu:
B: none
L: c. of cheddar/broccoli soup & 1/2 grilled chicken ceasar salad, no croutons
S: leftover grilled chicken breast w/ SB ranch
D: chicken ceasar salad, no croutons

Yesterday's exercise: 45 mins Core Secrets DVD

As usual, I have a lot to do today, including: requesting transcripts from all the universities I've attended, finishing up work for my group activity, cleaning my house, going grocery shopping, and hitting the gym (among many other things of course) . I can't wait for my life to settle down. Anyway, have a great OP day everyone!

I'm on vacation! I'm on vacation! I'm on vacation! (Can you tell I'm excited? )

I had a good day at work. We took the students outside for an hour this afternoon and it was a great, sunny day. It felt like 75 or 80 degrees! The male teachers and students played touch football and myself, the other female teachers and students laid out in the sun. I'm a little pink but not burned! We then made ice cream sundaes with the kids (and I ate a little one )

I just got home and I'll be off for the next 9 days. I have lots of fun things planned this week and I can't wait!

Teresa- Oooooo I love Rennisance Fairs! Have fun and congrats on the pound down!

Vero- Yeah, def check out callanetics! I think you would like the tape.

Have a great PHASE 1 day ladies!!!

Ok. So I went to the gym...and I had a GREAT workout. I pulled my right hamstring, but it seems better now. I think I just stretched it a bit too far.

My MENU as of now:
B: 8oz FF yogart, SF english toffee syrup
S: 1 oz almonds (mine are little ones...it is more than 15...but I always weigh them)
L: 8oz FF yogart, SF PB syrup, LS v8

***I KNOW I KNOW....I am getting to the grocery store today. My menu is definatly lacking in variety.***

DANI: Don't beat yourself up over the little icecream sandwich, but maybe you can exercise it off today?!
