Once again - I let it go - Starting over!
Hey guys...
Long story short. I fell off massively with dire consequences. Gorging on cookies, chocolate, and all bad things. I just got back from a holiday and have subsequently put on all the weight I'd lost in the start...and some. I've been on of those stupid people who stayed on P1 too long, got bored and just crashed and burned. So I'm starting over...even if P1 is just for one week, I need to get into P2 properly. I know we have a daily thread, but I'm gonna keep this one as a personal log. You guys must think I'm an absolute loser with no willpower. Honestly, I feel that way at the moment. I now weigh more than I have in about 2 years...140lbs and I want to loose it, and I can, I just need the right mindset. Knowing I'm starting over tomorrow is a comfort, but even still, I'm gorging right now knowing it. I'm a binge eater when I'm low. Boo me ![]() x |

hi there!
Good for you for jumping back on the band-wagon. BTW, we don't think that you're a complete loser -- life happens and we jump back on the bike again. Out of curiosity, how tall are you? I would kill to be 140lbs!!! (I'm 165lbs at the moment..) How long did you do your diet before? |

I'm 5ft5! Started the diet in January, got down to 126 but then started slipping and sliding stopping and starting. Bad move lol!
I see your WOE is atkins, what's that like? Is it similar? I'm not very familiar with it! Dani x |

Biscuit, very few people have made it through without some setbacks. The most important thing is to get back on plan. You have learned an important lesson about staying on Phase 1. The book addresses this very issue. Welcome back.

Thanks Rose!
I've been on a massive downer today. I think it's from all the rubbish I ate whilst away. Anyway...I said I wanted to log my progress, and today has been slightly sketchy because I've slept a lot of the day...but so far. Breakfast Two boiled eggs & half an onion lightly fried. 1tbsp light mayo Lunch Stir fried veg with vinegar and light soy to taste + tinned sardines from brine. I know lunch doesn't sound all that nice, but im just using what ive got from the cupboards as i dont want to leave the house today! |

Hugs to you!!
![]() I'm not here very often, but I'm not new to the Beach. I can sympathize with your temptations and "give-in's". I don't want to make assumptions on your behalf, but speaking from experience - I know that it is very tempting to go off plan when the plan itself is so very unappealing. I'm wondering if you've had success experimenting with different recipes and foods? I know, for me, that monotomy gets the best of me, and then, there's nothing more I want than a big ol' bag of peanut M&M's. When I change it up, though, I don't get that way. I also know, for me, when I plan my meals ahead of time, it makes it so much easier. In real life, though, this only works if you plan to eat at home for three meals a day, 365 days a year - which is hardly realistic. For this reason, I have developed plans for when I'm out. I have gathered take-out menus from Applebees, Friday's, Red Lobster, etc. and have since looked up the nutritional content to their meals. When I'm out - I'll already know ahead of time what I can eat that is considered OP. This helps tremendously. I guess what I'm trying to say is this - if you feel like your're "always on a diet," then you should reconceptionlize. I know that EVERYONE says that you should NOT reward yourself with food. I will probably be the first to admit that I do. It does work for me, but it might not work for the next person. I will set a "weight goal," and once I reach that goal I will allow myself one indulgence (and a single serving, BTW, not a total gorge). This is SO wrong - BTW - but it works for me. I'm only revealing this because I want to point out that sometimes you have to figure out what works for YOU and not the NORM!! There is NO WAY that I can live the rest of my life without every eating a peanut M&M, again. I know it is not possible. So , I've incorporated this into my South Beach Plan. It's all about making the plan work for YOU!! If it's not working for you, ask yourself, why? - and make modifications!! Good luck, sweetie!!! You can do it!!!

Thanks kitty-cat! What an enlightening post!
I think my main problem is the restrictions I put on myself, and then when I do "cheat" as it where, I punish myself greatly, but this spirals and I just end up comforting myself with food. I do a lot of experimenting with food, and I guess I have quite a lot of variation in my diet. It is hard to stick to the rule of P1 as I do lead a life that isn't the same day in day out. I work, travel and have a generally active life, and this makes it hard to plan ahead. As I said though, my main problem is comfort eating, and that seems to have a massive impact on what I've lost. I don't binge outrageously, but it seems to make a big difference, even in a day. When I came back from Sweden I went from 140 one day, to 134 in a day. I can't understand the massive fluctuations. I'm just babbling now lol. But thank you for the advice, it certainly helps, and I'm going to try and adapt the plan to suit those odd cravings and think of this as less of a diet, and just a lifestyle choice. I want this bad enough, and i WILL get there. x |
