Home with a sick kid today. I did well after dinner last night... even though dinner was off program. We went to the Sunday night pub quiz and I avoided all alcohol and stuck with diet Coke. Thank goodness I did because when I got home, I discovered that DD (who was home with Hubby) had barfed in her bed, so I had to clean all that mess up and then was up with her all night. Needless to say, I am tired today, but thankful that I did not indulge in alcohol or I would be miserably tired.

Menu -
B - cottage cheese, chocolate muffin
L - grilled chicken breast, last of the faux tato casserole
S - pumpkin spice muffin, ff plain yogurt with vanilla sweetner
D - grilled chicken with homemade veggie soup OR grilled chicken salad (depending on what I feel like tonight)
IF I have a dessert, it will be sf jell-O but I doubt I will get around to making any today.

I plan to exercise today - toning - but we shall see if I get around to it since I have had no sleep. Perhaps later this afternoon after DD and I take a nice nap.

Have a happy Monday, beach babes!

Morning!!!

Another week!

Off to the Y shortly and will peek back in to see how everyone's doing later.

Bella - ditto from me what Rose said about your menu's. Personally, I don't think you are eating enough food. You need to eat to lose. I have a friend who hardly eats anything as she is trying to lose weight - you need to eat to fuel your body, to make your metabolism operate at maximum capacity.....

Good Morning Beachers!

for the weekend challenge. I am down 2 lbs. I think it 2.

Ericha - On the thread about the RR, some of the gals in that post were making them in a muffin top pan, also. I've been using a baking sheet. And they are all kinds of weird shapes but they taste the same!

yesterdays eats:
b - 1/2 apple, npb, 1/3 c taco soup
l/d - huge taco salad, taco meat, tomato, lettuce, ff cheese, salsa, sour cream, few ww chips for crunch
s - sf klondike
1 liter of water
70 min walking

BBL gals.

Phase 1-1/2 Day 5

Morning Everyone.

Cindy - Woohoo. The Pack looked great. I hope the Patriots get beat next week! (no offense, Juanita) I really don't like them and I would rather see the Pack play a team I like.

Stella - Well, I can identify with the pizza crisis. Every now and then I just can't help it and cave in!. That's my life, I deal with it.

Melrose - I found an organic yogurt that I find acceptable. All natural, nothing funky in it. Since I can't stand the taste of plain yogurt, I always make yogurt fluff with it to camoflage the taste of the yogurt. It's just so good for you.

Bella - Check the menu plan again. I don't think you're eating enough either.

Cookie - Good to "see" you again. We've missed you. to your DD. There's some kind of bug going around here, too, that's pretty miserable.

It's a good news to report kind of day. The weekend challenge was a total success and I'm happy to report a 5 lb. loss. (Probably the water I'm holding but I'll take it anyway.) Did some exercise and cooked my butt off so no more DH surprise dinner. Kind of did a Phase 1-1/2 because I did have some grains. I made the bacon cheeseburger quiche sans bacon. We didn't eat it yet but, dang, did it smell good baking. I'll report back with the review.

Yesterdays menu:
B - 2 eggs, turkey sausage, 1 sl. Whole Grain Tuscan Sourdough toast (put the rest of the loaf in the freezer)
S - none
L - walnuts, string cheese, celery
D - salsa chicken, broccoli, cauli, salad, ranch
S - pb on Wasa cracker
88 oz. water

Tina - I made the Dobie muffins, they're wonderful. I made them with the banana extract and that was OK but not wonderful. DH them!!!! So much so that he's rationing them. Go figure. I baked them for 25 minutes and I think that was a little too long but I think my oven runs a little hot. Give them a try - they're tasty.

Gotta go to work now - boss is lurking. Talk to you all later.

Checking in early monday

I found an organic yogurt that I find acceptable. All natural, nothing funky in it. Since I can't stand the taste of plain yogurt, I always make yogurt fluff with it to camoflage the taste of the yogurt. It's just so good for you. - How do you make yogurt fluff??

I am excited to say that i have a 7 lb loss!!! Yeah me. I am sad this morning since my pants are still tight I would have thought I could be a skinny chick right off the bat.

Also i was dressed to go to school and my 7 yr old DD said "Mom, I think you ripped your pants (just like Sponge Bob)!!!" Yes they were. I was already late and now i am even later.

I know that I should be excited for 7 lbs, but i wanted my clothes to fit now!!! I hope that next week I can lose 5. i am going to stay on P1 - actually I need to 2 weeks.

Good luck everyone this week - next weekend is a 3 dayer for me - MLK Day off. Yeah. I need to take down the Christmas decorations and tree. (A real one that still looks awesome!!)

The bell is going to ring soon and I need to finish grading. They are taking a lab Midterm. They are not happy - but I kept telling them that they need to organize their information. If they have it secured in their lab book they may use it. If it falls out no deal.

5 days

I know what you mean. I have lost 7 lbs too, and no one has even noticed. I notice a little in my stomach, but that's it. I know 7 lbs may not be that much, but I was hoping for skinny right off of phase 1. Oh well, I'll be patient. I still have one more week on phase 1, plus I'm going to double up on exercising. I can do this

Good morning, all!

Sorry I've been absent, I was at my girls' weekend away! Yay! It was SOOO much fun. I did tons of shopping, and got tons of new clothes. Didn't eat OP, but, didn't plan to. I still lost because we didn't eat all that much anyway.

Rose: Thanks for your advice last week. I'm not sure what my trigger is. I mean, outside of emotional/stress eating. I tend to get in a lot of trouble when I let myself get really hungry, which I've been doing lately, skipping snacks and such. As for your exercise question, I go to the gym, but not near enough as I should. This week is my "get back on track at the gym week." What I do depends on the time I have, if I go at lunch, I'll do 35 min. on the elliptical. If DH will pick up DSs, then I go to zumba class or body pump. Although, I am thinking of doing the couch to 5k program.

Dani: Thanks for the post last week, I think I will go back on P1 (tomorrow, since I didn't go to the grocery store this weekend). I really do feel like this woe is a better long term plan.

Marsha: Let me know what you think of the quiche. I make it w/o bacon, too. I just can't do the turkey bacon!

Sorry for the short post all, I have to get some work done. Hi to all the newbies, good luck and keep up the good work!

All is going well. Did not eat much yesterday so I am still steady. Movers come next week so I have been super Busy. I will try and check in later.

Hello All,
Great forum you've got going here. Great place for support, advice and motivation

Started SBD 09/01/08 and I think it suits my taste in food very well. I did Atkins about 4/5 years ago and that was good - lost my "baby fat". But any time I want to try it again my body goes funny as though it knows what's coming! Did GI diet last summer but didn't like the serving sizes but with the SBD I don't feel like I'm on a diet, which is good I guess.

My target is to lose 5 inches from my waist. I don't like weighing myself much (plus I don’t have any scales!) so I'll carry on with the measuring tape.

I've also decided to do more exercise. Started with a Nell McAndrew (don't know if you know her in the States) DVD, which is very very tough. Had lots of ache-y limbs and joints after that! DH (hehe I'm learning these acronyms as I go along!) advised me to stick to the cross-trainer - it's kinder on the joints! I do 45mins, 3 days a week with lots of stretching. Also, we go walking about 2km every day.

Typical Menu:
B/F: Omelet with red/green peppers, chopped parsley, courgettes, and mushrooms
or if I'm not hungry: hard boiled egg(s) with green salad and 1tbs v.low-fat mayo
S: peanuts around 6-8 with plenty of water
L: mushrooms/courgettes/onions/green pepper/tomato gently fried with 1tbs olive oil until soft, served with chicken
S: peanuts around 6-8 with plenty of water
D: mixed green salad with a few olives and homous or lightly fried chopped spinach with dill, using 1tbs oil, and small lamb pieces.
Once I go shopping, I'll add a glass of skimmed milk in the morning to drink and a dollop of fat-free natural yogurt with my meals and I also can't wait to add aubergines to my menu - YUM.

One final thing, read a few times ppl don't like natural yogurt...how?? I love it. Try different brands, you might be surprised. The yogurt here (and back in the UK TBH) is gorgeous! If you don't like the taste, try adding salt, dry mint leaves, garlic and cucumber to make your own tzatziki.

Thank you & see you soon

Again, thank you so much for the advice and encouragement! Happy to report that I'm down 10 pounds at the end of Phase I (second week)...loss was slower this week than last but I'll take it. Think I may keep going on Ph I for a bit more, too, like some of you have chosen to do. Woohoo!

(Oh, and Melrose, great job, you!!!!)

Hope we all did something nice for ourselves this weekend...some of you did superfun things, I see! Way to go!

Have an excellent week...

ps: fellow newbies!

Tina - the recipe is in the Recipe Room - I think page 7. It's called Dobie's Muffins.

Melrose - the yogurt fluff is so easy!!!

1 pkg SF jello (whatever flavor but Black Cherry is my fav)
3/4 C boiling water
Mix these two together until well dissolved (about 2 min)
1 C cold water with ice
Mix this in to do a "quick set"
1 C ff yogurt
Mix it in real well (I sometimes use a whisk) and pop it in the fridge.

Original recipe calls for putting it in 5 containers but I make it in a Cool Whip bowl and get it out when I want some. Probably 4 servings over the week.

See you all later!!

Good Morning!
Off to take my son to school, then back here for 30 minutes on my elliptical. I'm going to start incorporating weights in my routine, I hear that it's a great thing and I am going to start lifting three times a week. I have a 3,5 and 8 pound dumbbells.
Have a great day!

I just posted a Swiss Mushroom chicken recipe in the recipe thread that really looks delish if anyone is interested!

Thanks Marsha!

ETA: someone asked about turkey hot dogs, I can't remember if it was in last weeks daily thread, but here it what I found in the stickies.

Quote:
BEEF
All hot dogs (beef, pork, poultry, soy) can be enjoyed occasionally (once/week) if they are at least 97% fat free (contain 3-6 grams of fat/serving).
So I guess if the turkey dogs contain less than 6 grams of fat per serving they are OK occasionally.

Yesterday's menu:
Brunch: french toast w/ sf syrup
S: none
Dinner: 1/2 chicken sandwich on WG w/ lettuce, cup of cheddar broccoli soup
S: apple

Went to the gym yesterday and did 33 mins elliptical, 33 mins bike. BBL....

Can you eat more if needed? It seems like a great way to volumize on those days when you need to just eat food.

Oh, I have a tip - whenever I crave something sweet, which is usually straight after a meal - old habits die hard, I chew sugar free gum... does anyone else do this?

Melrose - don't eat alot of this as a filler; use your veggies and proteins to fill you up!

OMG Doppal - that is EXACTLY what I do - actually it's Trident Bubble Gum in the jarlike container.......ANYTIME I want something sweet, I do this, especially if I don't want to eat something at that time.

I made taco soup this weekend... I plugged it into Fitday... way to carby... the stewed tomatoes and pinto beans brought it higher than I thought. I will need to tweak the recipe to where the base is not pureed stewed tomatoes... sure was good though
