I'm sorry I know this has probably been asked a million times..
But..can you have protein powder on SB without sabotaging your efforts? My DH lifts weights and wants this change over to South Beach eating from our free for all food plan that we've had over the past year. He does cardio as well at the gym after work but I was just wondering if there is any certain kind that is better than others, or if there is any protein bars that actually taste good for him to take as his snack at work (he works midnights and feels better when he has his lunch and a snack at work). He absolutely loves these bars and shakes and here are the nutritional value for both of them, we buy them both at Walmart if that matters..LOL.
Bars: 1 bar Cal:190 Fat:6 Sat fat:3g..trans:0 Cholesterol:10mg Sodium:210mg Potassium:120mg Tot Carbs:17g Fiber 1g Sugars: 2 Sugar alcohol:6g Protein 20g Shakes: 2 scoops Calories:230 Fat: 3.5 Sat: 1g...trans 0g Chol: 80mg Sodium: 110mg Potassium 440mg Total Carbs: 4g Fiber: 1g Sugar: 2g Protein: 46g That's it, I want him eating the best possible way (all of us but I say him do to his HUGE risk factor of Open Heart surgery and BIGGG diabetes in his family), it's time to break the chain and he is ALL game for the change. So is there anything else that is better than these he's eating now? He don't have to much of a weigh issue and I know it's because he keeps at working out, but he does have a belly that he wants to go. Thanks for all your help, I really appreciate it.

Could you give a brand name for bars, please? Or post ingredients? We're generally not a fan of bars. Too much artificial junk. Whey protein powder is good. Sounds like he's using Body Fortress powder?

Pure Protein - Eat Good. Look Great. Products
This is the bars he eats, I started to write out the ingredients but there's way to many to write so here it is if you don't mind. I don't see where they have any ingredients listed, but I was hoping by just seeing the bar someone may know if they are a go or not. Thanks again.. |

Amy, frankly this a vitamin enhanced candy bar. Not really a good choice for a SB snack. If you read the menu outlines in the book, you will see real food for snacks. Powered whey protein is useful for additional protein and can be incorporated into drinks and baking. Hope this helps.
