Morning!

It's a new week and we are heading right into the holiday season. We need to think ahead and prepare ourselves - we CAN do this!!!

Rose - thanks for starting us up with the Holiday greeting!!

Yesterday I layed low as my back was killing me! My house is pretty much ready for company, and short week for me this week with Wednesday off. If I can switch a couple appointments I may take off NEXT Monday too....with my ILs leaving Sunday night, it would be nice to have Monday to do grocery shopping, put my house back together, laundry etc.

Walking partner gone this week, so DH said he'd walk with me when he got home tonight.....

Yesterday:

Bfast:
3 cups of coffee
Veggie Omelette (out) w/ piece of WW Toast and sf jam

Snack:
Piece of string cheese, nuts

Dinner:
Presto Chicken, 1/2 baked sweet potato, big salad

Treat: 2 pieces Dove Dark

Water: Not Enough
Exercise: Off

I am in all day today, so will pop in from work! WE CAN DO THIS BEACHERS!

Happy Monday, Beacher Ladies!!!

to all the newbies. Ask questions and post your menus. We're here to help anyway we can.

Last week I was kind of an emotional wreck so I was MIA for a while. Sorry about that. I know you guys worry. I think it was from the new medicine so I switched to taking it at night and now I feel more like myself. Have a Drs appointment on 12/10 so we'll have to discuss this. The good thing is I've had only one episode with the chest pains since the hospital stay and it ended quickly. Maybe because I've sworn off booze and it wasn't alcohol induced.

With all this turmoil the scale has been like a roller coaster BUT I was down 1.5 this AM. I can't figure it out but I'll take it! DH said he's sick of his belly and his clothes not fitting (I think he's jealous of me!). Well, you know he got no sympathy!! We talked about it and he's going to start on early Phase 2 with 1 fruit and no grain. Went to the grocery store and got him some things he would eat that were OP. Since he's at home, he can at least cook for himself - but will he? I made the Bean Brownie recipe and it doesn't taste like brownies but it does a good job for chocolate cake. Maybe DH will eat that for breakfast. He has options but I can't be there to feed him so he's on his own.

I've got to catch up reading the thread from last week just to catch up. Wow, we're a chatty bunch and I love you all.

VERO - WOW you look wonderful in your picture! You look radiant and you're dress is beautiful. I really would have liked to see the whole dress but you were just being modest.

I'm copying from Neesie here:

My tip for the day: STAND UP TALL! I conducted my own experiment over the weekend. I tried to watch (in mirrors) the way I walked and sat. I discovered I tended to slouch!!! I also noticed that the slouching made me look bigger!! When I pulled my shoulders back and kept my head up, not only did I feel better about myself but I actually looked better. Maybe we should have listened to our mothers about this years ago!

Menu for today:

B - yogurt fluff
S - hb egg, V8
L - salad w/1.5 oz ham, jello
S - bean brownie
D - not sure

That's it for today (maybe). Have a wonderful Beach day.

Morning Ladies... it's a new week and I'm determined to make it work for me. Been struggling a bit with eating at night... but working on breaking the habit and cutting off my eating at 7 pm. Just started knitting a steel blue scarf made of lama wool... which is something different then lambs. Making it in the ribbing pattern... k2,p2 and then will be making some wrist warmers to go with it. I'm the most happiest when I'm making things with my hands and I'm doing this too to break that night time habit... it's going to work for me. I know I can do it Ladies.

Marie to the beach!!! What a great place to start. You'll find this group of Ladies are very friendly and supportive of one another. Ask questions and post as often as you wish. We're here for you.

For those doing the one-der-land challenge... I'm rooting for ya!!!

WTG... all those who have been successful at losing!!! You're my inspiration.

I have to get ready for work... will see you later.

Welcome Marie......this is a great group and you will find a lot of support here....we will also advise as well, and if that is a true menu, that is definitely not enough food and you should up your veggie intake and add some snacks. Most of us post menu's so go back and check out some of the older daily threads and see what we are eating. I have been at this for almost 8 months and am at my goal......this is very doable if you follow the program. There are reasons for things being written the way they are!!!

Marsha - glad you are feeling better, and yes; errands always count for exercise!

Tammy! My MIL is coming for the holiday and is going to teach me (AGAIN) how to knit!!! I have to go and get some yarn and am excited to find something really cool!!!

Good morning beachers!

I'm feeling good this a.m. Excited to be getting back OP after this weekend, which seemed very long. I weighed myself w/ clothes on this morning on the cheap analog scale I bought 2 weeks ago and it says I'm at 200. I think it's very nice to me LOL. Usually it's off by 2 to 3 lbs, so I'm probably still at 202 or 203, which isn't bad considering the weekend. If this is the case, maybe I should make onederland (199) my goal for Saturday? Anyway, I'll know for sure when I head to the gym later today.

Marsha: thanks for the compliment. I usually look alright from the chest up It's the rest of my body that is big. I hope you continue to feel better.

Star123: I'm also knitting a scarf right now and it's k2p2. I like learning different patterns so that all of my scarves are a little different. The last scarf I did was k2p2 for about 15 rows then I reversed it and did p2k2. It was an experiment and it came out really nice! (At least I think so ).

Cindy: I didn't know you reached goal in 8 months! What an inspiration. Now that this weekend is over, I need to get my rear in gear.

Marie: Please listen to all the advice that the ladies give you on this board. They are sincerely trying to help you and they give great advice! I also have a hard time trying to get in all the food I'm supposed to be eating. Especially breakfast. You may want to add in some beans or lentils into your menu. I know they were a big help during phase 1 until I could reintroduce grains in ph2.

Alright, I have a lot of cooking, cleaning, and unpacking to do...joy. I think that I will start putting up my indoor Christmas decorations since I have this entire week off school.

Be back to chat with ya'll later, bye!

HI Beachers!
Well, I gained 1 pound over the weekend - no surprise there! I'm up 2 lbs from my lowest - no surprise there either - just part of my 2 pound yo-yoing trend of late.

Don't forget DWTS tonight!

Opinions needed here! Should we be starting the weekend challenge Wednesday morning or should we do it first thing Thursday? My thought is that if you're doing any kind of Thanksgiving baking/cooking on Wednesday it might be a good thing to begin on Wednesday. What do you girls think?

Cindy - I'm glad you're so upbeat right now, I'm trying to be that way too and you're attitude is really helping me with mine! I've had a slight sinus headache ever since I was at the doctors last week. I'm sure most of it is stress but it's starting to get on my nerves. Anyway - Yes, we CAN do this. I don't know about you but I'll be jumping for joy if I just break even this weekend.

1of - I hope your back feels better today! I usually send my cards out starting Thanksgiving weekend. That's the way my mom always did it so I guess that's why I do then too. Seems a little early this year so I might hold off another week.

Marsha - I hear you about your DH. Mine really needs to lose weight but no one can do it for him but him. Sometimes I think he wants to try but he doesn't do anything about it so I try not to bring it up any more. I will bring it up as a new years resolution suggestion tho. We'll see what happens then. I love your tip and I've noticed that I do the exact same thing! I just became conscious of it last week or so and it is something I want to work on too!

Marie - to the Beach. Never put off til tomorrow what you can start today. If you read all the posts you'll get a lot of ideas of how we're getting thru turkey day. Most of us will probably go off plan to some degree but being MOSTLY on plan is better than not being on plan at all. My suggestion is to do the best you can on Thursday and get right back on plan the next day! And YES you can do this! I agree with Cindy - this is not enough food. You have to eat to lose - it sounds counterproductive but it's true. I've been at this since Jan 2, 2007 - have lost 40 pounds and am at my goal size. This woe worked for me when nothing else would. Come by everyday if you can - the girls here are the best help and support you'll ever get! Enjoy the Beach!

Tammy - doing something to keep your hands busy instead of eating is a great idea! Especially when you're creating something pretty. WTG!

Vero - glad things are looking up for you today! Christmas lights already? UGH! I don't think I can take it! I won't be doing mine until the first weekend of December. I'm not really a bah-humbuger - I just think the "season" is too long, especially this year 'cause Turkey day is so early. Do you get a real tree? The past few years I've had artificial and I really miss having a real one. I love the smell when you walk in the house so it's a real one for us this year.

3 days to Turkey day!

tip for the day - check out Marsha's post!

Today's menu: trying to get in those veggies!
B: Broc & cheese quiche / tea
L: whole grain wrap with lettuce / chicken breast and a little salad dressing
S: Apple
D: CHeeseburger - no bun / 1 carb ketchup / 1% milk / salad
S: Blue Bunny SF Bar

Gotta go back to work - oh these people!
See you all tonight!

Hey Neesie!
I agree, it seems like a long time before Christmas. I'm just putting up my indoor decorations. No tree yet. Last year we went home to Texas and didn't get a tree. The year before that we were living in Kentucky so we bought a real tree. It was beautiful, but the pine needles kept falling and my dog took to peeing on them because they made the house smell outdoors-ie. LOL. this year I'm thinking fake tree. i can't mop up any pee this year, it ticks me off!

Hello everyone. Well I've just completed my first ever weekend challenge and I have to say that I'm confused!! I weighed in Friday morning and was down 9 lbs since starting this diet 12 days before. Weighed Saturday and was up 4lbs? I was on plan the whole weekend and this morning am down 2lbs or total loss of only 7lbs. I know I'm not getting as much veggies or water as I should but can it affect weight that much? And am I really down 9lbs or only 7?? I start phase 2 today and am worried that I'll rebound again, think I'll start with just one fruit for the next few days and see what happens. Thanks for the support guys, I've tried every diet known to man(and woman) but never with online support like this. I'm really hoping it works this time. I work from a home office so will be checking this site regularly throughout the day. Any advice is more than welcome.
Have a good one

Hi,
Quickie question for you guys. Do you think Sweet Potatoe chips would be an okay substitute for regular potatoe chips? I know the whole/fat salt thing would be an issue but besides that would they be okay?

Brenill - Just a quickie thought.

Don't get discouraged by that darn scale. Your weight can fluctuate wildly during the week. If you have to weigh in every day, like me, just take that into consideration.

About water -- I think everyone here will agree that this is probably the single most important thing we can do for ourselves. Dr. A says that you should drink 1/2 oz of WATER for each pound you weigh. For me, that's over 80 ozs. and I do that faithfully. Coffee, tea, diet pop (soda) is not water - only water is water. Drink up!!!!

Going into Phase 2 was scary for all of us. Add fruit for a week and see what happens. Go for berries first since they have a low GI. If the scale is still moving in the right direction (generally), try adding a grain for a week. I prefer oatmeal but that's just me. If the scale is still moving, add another fruit for a week. I'm sure you get the idea. You'll find things that will stall you out and you'll know to avoid them for a while. Remember this is a journey - we'll have detours and roadblocks. We all know that we're headed in the right direction.

Hope this helps. Any more problems, sound off here. Someone will have the answers.

Hey Beachers!

Sorry I've been missing for awhile. Life has been crazy around here. It's settling down now.

My weight is up a few pounds from my profile. I was at a retreat this weekend and ate some things not OP. The good news is that when I cheat now, it's not like I used to. I'm back OP today and going to the gym for the first time in weeks in just a few minutes.

I only have 4 more hours of work this week . My boss told me to take some extra time off, so I am. My plan is to clean house tomorrow, including shampooing my carpet, so I can start working on Christmas decorations Wednesday and/or Thursday.

Have a great evening!

Happy Monday, Beachers!

Well...I had a crappy weekend. Friday was great, going out to dinner for DFs b-day. We had a great time and ate fantastic food. DF was starting to feel sick on Thursday so of course by Saturday we both felt blah! We had to do a lot of shopping Saturday so no rest. I didn't make it to the gym because I was a little dizzy and tired and light headed. Sunday I was planning to go in the morning before grocery shopping and laundry but when I woke up it felt like my head was going to explode so I figured the gym was not a great idea. So, no exercise over the weekend and not enough water. WI this morning has me up 1.5lbs.

Feeling much better today, though. Went to the gym this morning and forgot my bra! Ran to Target and had an NSV...I'm a size smaller (around and in the cup...not so happy about that part)!

Crazy week ahead...tonight I have to get my chipped tooth fixed. Tomorrow I have to go to the gym after work and may have to write an offer on a house for my clients. Wednesday after work I have to go to the gym then pick up the turkey, go home, make dinner and cheesecake and one side dish for Thursday. Thursday I'm making another side dish and the turkey and then driving the food to DFs parents house for dinner. Hopefully Friday will be relaxing...well, you know, cleaning the house and getting ready for the weekend.

Menu
B: 2 sl orowheat bread w/ light cream chs and 3 turkey sausage links
S: 1/2 c cottage cheese w/ 1/2 c frozen berries
L: 2.5 c homemade tomato and bean soup, 3 oz chicken
S: almonds
D: Salad w/ turkey breast, lettuce, tomato, onion, dressing
S: sf popsicle (maybe)

Exercise: 10 min treadmill, abs & stretching, 30 minute high intensity elliptical
Water: so far - 48 oz.

I'll try to check in later for indies.

Have a great week everyone!

Good evening beachers!

I just got back from the gym, 1hr 45 mins! Yey! These are the kind of workouts that I love. DH's friends (the ones in the pic) showed up at the gym about 25 mins before i headed out. I felt so bad for our friend's gf, she never works out and she's very self-conscious. She told me she's at 175, which is her highest and she never has time to work out. Anyway, she sort of shadowed me at the gym and looked disappointed when I left. I felt bad leaving her but I had already been there almost 2 hrs and I still needed to come home and cook.

I didn't get around to putting up decorations, maybe I'll do it later tonight. Even though I'm off for the week I have to conduct observations tomorrow and Wed because I'm behind on those.

Well, I weighed in at the gym and I'm up a little over a pound. I'm at 203 and some with my clothes on. I think if I weighed in the morning I'd be at 203 exactly. That's not too bad considering the weekend we just had. I'm thinking 199 by Saturday would be a good goal, but I'll be really disappointed if I don't make it.

Today's menu

B: steel cut oatmeal w/splenda, cinnamon, walnuts
S: carbsmart w/ walnuts
L: 2 sm pieces of skirt steak w/ pinto beans & jalapenos
S: piece of steak
D: steak & veggie stir fry w/ fried rice, made w/ brown rice, 1 egg & veggies

I know, I know, too many walnuts and the carbsmart. I'll learn my lesson eventually. Alright ladies, "see" you tomorrow.

Evening Ladies... Yeah!!! I had a good OP day today and it's already 7 pm, cut off time for not eating tonight for the rest of the night. I know I can do it!!! In the meantime, I'm catching up on my laundry and knitting up a storm. I want to get that scarf done, because it's really cool in the mornings and it will come in handy.

I hope you're all having a great thanksgiving holiday this week. Wondered if wednesday is the holiday and if any of you are taking the rest of the week off. I love turkey dinners and family get togethers, and I'm looking forward to this Christmas, which is my favorite time of year. Already have a tree up, a 6' and I'm taking my time decorating it... got a month. Usually I wait untill the last minute to get the tree up and decorated. But it's fun and this year I seem to have a bit more energy to do it. I'm using a 3 color theme... not using garland, but a light blue, silver and white color combo... using blue ribbon twisted and wrapping it around the tree. The clear lights are up with the doves and the pine cones... and I'm taking my time putting up the bulbs, snowflakes and angels. You gotta have angels right? Anyways, it will look christmasy.

Haven't even touched on the subject of gifts yet. That will have to be in December and by that time I'm hoping to get into the 160's range. I know I can do it!!!

Well, it's getting late. Should work on that scarf now and finish my laundry, and then bedtime at 9 pm.

You'll have a good night...

Neesie, I sent DH to the store today for wheat gluten. Among other things, he brought a big bag of sweet potato chips "because we can have sweet potatoes, right?" They were lightly salted with sea salt and actually tasted sweet. I think an ounce had 15 carbs. I ate a few. I wouldn't recommend them to newbies, but maintainers might be able to handle a few now and then.
