Question about V-8
I'm realizing that I have the old copy of the SBD book, because my list is different from the FAQ thread.
I do have a problem eating veggies, and I see a lot of people drinking V-8 on this diet. How much can you consume in Phase I? Thanks. |

There actually isn't an updated version of the book, but Dr A has made some changes since it was written.
V8 can be drank once a day as a substitute for 1/2 cup of vegetables. Most people have it at breakfast. I would suggest trying lots of new veggies and try making them different ways... roasting them brings out a really sweet taste, you may like them that way. We also sometimes grill, stir fry or steam ours. I've grown to love vegetables during the time we've done SB, I used to just tolerate them. |

I forgot I was going to mention... the other big change since the book was written is the addition of dairy... 2 cups in Phase 1 and 2-3 cups in Phase 2.
Acceptable options are: Low-fat milk (fat-free and 1%) Fat-free 1/2 & 1/2 (less than 2 tablespoons) Low-fat plain, vanilla, or sucralose-containing soy milk (4 grams of fat or less per 8 ounce serving). Be sure the product does not contain high fructose corn syrup 1% or fat-free buttermilk Fat-free plain yogurt |

I love V8 or tomato juice with my eggs and bacon in the AM, but be careful because the regular can has lots of salt. They do make reduced sodium though...I've never tried it...but I do try to drink lots of water throughout the day. : )

I used to drink v-8, but I switched to Knudsen's organic veggie juice when I found out that v-8 is made with genetically modified tomatoes. The Knudsen's juice comes in a bottle and doesn't have any trace of the metallic taste that you sometimes get with v-8 in the cans.
