Question about dairy foods.

Hello, everyone! I am new to the South Beach diet. I just got the book four days ago and have indulged myself (with reading) ever since. I also started the diet four days ago.

I understand that this diet isn't about calorie counting, or even carb counting - but eating good carbs and good fats.

What I'm confused about is dairy. Is dairy (from the approved foods list for Phase I) unlimited? I love cottage cheese, and I would like to incorporate fat free cottage cheese into Phase I, but I don't really know what my limit is.

What about fat free sour cream and my FAVORITE - fat free, sugar free pudding. What about ranch dressing?

I don't see FF cottage cheese, FF sour scream or FF/sugar free pudding on either list.

Thanks!

Kitty - I copies the following from a sticky at the top of the page. Cottage cheese fit into the CHEESE category. I'm not sure what the serving size is for it, but it is on the list and I'm sure it's not unlimited.

As to the SF, FF pudding as long as it is limited to 75 calories per day you can have it. Actually I was just looking at the phase II sticky at the top of the page and it says the SF FF pudding can be started in phase II.

For the sour cream, I have no idea where that falls either but I have been eating it since I started phase II, and maybe even some in phase I (can't remember) and I have been losing.

I hope some of this helps and that someone can come in and give you more information about the cottage cheese serving size.
