Anyways.I checked my weight a few days after i started and i checked it today and it says i gained a pound!..Either i'm not doin something right or my scale is lying.I think i can tell in my face that i'm losing. I also have started walking either a mile or a half of mile a day...
Now is ther a such thing as to much water?..I drink anywhere from 100-170oz of water..Some reason i'm very thrirsy
on this diet..I also drink ONE diet green tea a day thats 16oz...How many carbs can you have on south beach? I still dont understand that diet.We buy all the frozens foods, wraps anything we can find..Anyways thanks for reading.

Hi,
Southbeach is different from Atkins, you should read the Southbeach book or read the stickys at the top of this thread to fully understand what its about. You are allowed to have carbs, its just chosing the good ones over the bad ones!!

Glitter, you need to by the South Beach book and read it. On this diet we don't count carbs. There is a list of foods from which you can choose and a list of foods that you should avoid. South Beach is also different from Atkins in that we eat good fats. On Atkins, fat doesn't seem to be a concern. During Phase 1, generally the first two weeks, you should not be eating any wraps or breads or pastas. Most of us also typically try to avoid as many processed foods as we can (example, the South Beach frozen meals, bars, etc).

I hope this information is helpful. There are some links at the top of the main page that have the food lists and recipes. You should check them out.

Glitter - here is a link to the foods allowed on phase 1 of SB

PHASE 1 FOOD LIST AND SAMPLE MENU

There is a "sticky" at the top of the south beach forum that has this information listed.

Glitter; listen to the gals above - if you are doing the program the right way, you should be losing. We don't count carbs, eat plenty of food, and lose. Check out the daily thread for support, advice, or even just lurk for info!

Another thing to consider is you cannot combine SB and Atkins. The higher carb and high fat combo won't work. Pick one or the other, whatever you are most comfortable with, but do one or the other. Good luck.

Well, there's at least part of your problem. Don't by prepackaged South Beach Foods. They're really not all that great for the program. They're good for emergencies, but that's about it.

Next South Beach and Atkins are different. South Beach is reduced carb and reduced fat. Atkins is low carb, high fat. Follow one or the other but don't do both. They cancel each other out.

I do actually watch my carbs on South Beach by using FitDay. My carbs are usually between 50 and 75 per day.
