Morning Beachers!
Happy Labor Day! It's officially the end of summer! I am sad about that, but not sad about the cooler temps coming our way, hopefully! OP yesterday.....was going to treat myself to a splurge, but didn't. Ended up making the SB Peanut Butter Cup. Anxious to make the Mocha Creme and Muffins this week though. Ellen - the chicken sounds good! Thanks for the recipe! So today is our final boat ride of the summer; after this, for me, weekends are too short to get caught up and go boating for the day. DH doesn't like it, but then again, he doesn't have near the amount to catch up on around here as I do! ![]() Tonight is our back to school celebratory dinner (DDs rolled their eyes when I told them that one.) I have my turkey sausage simmered in sauce already and we wll have whole wheat pasta, ww garlic toast and salad for dinner Have a great day all and a great start to the week!

Hi Rose
I havent been here in a while. Been doing ok maintaining. My problem is that when I left SB for lc, and then come back to south beach a couple weeks ago I notice I am up in weight. Think my body just needs adjustment time? I was doing lc so when I restarted south beach i went to phase 2. I dont think I can go back to phase 1. I am so tired of no carbs. Any ideas will be helpful. I only have two starches a day. Thanks. oh, use to be raptureready1953 Last edited by vessel of prayer : 09-03-2007 at 06:35 AM. |

Good Morning Beach Friends
![]() Here's our menu for the day... Breakfast: 1 fried egg; 2 slices of turkey bacon; V8; 2 cups coffee each w/ ¼ c 2% milk and sweetener Snack: 2 WW crackers w/ LC cheese and green olives Lunch: Strawberry-Peach Smoothie w/ cottage cheese Snack: Apple w/ Peanut Butter Dinner: Taco Salad; Diet Coke Desert: Bean Brownie Cindy, Why don't you tear that "To Do" list in half... Tell DH if he can get his half done in one weekend day, you can go boating the other... ![]() Shiela, Back! You'll probably adjust and start to see the scale creeping down in the next couple of weeks... stick with it. I'm sure you are retaining some water with the addition of carbs back into your diet. You said you are eating 2 starches a day... are you eating any fruit? If you'd like us to take a look at your menus and review them, we'd be happy to... Have a great day on the Beach everyone! ![]() |

Good morning everyone!
I'm so happy to have the day off today, but sad for the end of summer. Its my favorite season and it always flies by. I don't think I was cut out for New England winters! I was happy to see I was down a pound this morning! That puts me at a total of 14 so far, I'm losing about 2lbs a week on average and I'm happy with that. My immediate goal is to los 40 by Jan 1st, I think that is doable. Ladies I was so sore yesterday after walking that lake. I want to start walking it in the mornings before work, but I am still feeling it now, two days later. Any advice for a newbie to the exercise world? About how many walks do you think it would take before it comes a little easier for me? I also went to target and bought a yoga mat and a three dvd yoga video, for something I can do at home. I want to get a jump start and get into some kind of shape before I go embarrass myself in a gym lol! My menu for the day: B - Two turkey sausage, egg and reduced fat cheese quiche cups S - Low carb yogurt L - Sandwich of ham, cheese, lettuce, tomatoe, pickle, red onion and mayo in half of a oat and flax pita from Joseph's, so good! S - Maybe some pistachios if necessary D - Not sure yet, taco salad might be good, or a ham steak wth veggies Have a great day on the beach everyone!! Jacqui |

Back from Paris
I'm back from my fabulous weekend getaway with DH. We must have walked 20 miles each day trying see everything and are just exhausted. My shins, ankles, calves... and even my toes... are aching. So glad I only took my reeboks. I can't imagine how some of those people managed it in sandals. I am uploading the photos to an online photoalbum and will share it when done. DH went a little crazy in the Louvre and tried to take a picture of everything... especially in the 18th & 19th centuries collections because there were NO people in those rooms. Everyone was off trying to see the Monna Lisa and the Egyptian relics.
SO, I am back on program today. I enjoyed the weekend and ate whatever we felt like, but honestly I missed the program. I just felt better and not so bloaty the first couple of weeks, so I am ready and excited to restart phase 1 today. Today's menu - B - egg muffin (from recipe room) S - ff plain yogurt with carmel candarel (France's Splenda) L - hamburger patty and steamed broccoli S - 1 babybel & tomato juice D - have not yet decided, but I have some No Tortilla soup in the freezer, so probably that since I had a hamburger patty for lunch. Went to a cafeteria for lunch with a colleague and had intended to get chicken, but they didn't have any so I settled for the burger. eh... it was alright. Plan to workout tonight even though my shins are still protesting. Probably a nice 40 minute Firm... Like Burn & Shape with Emily. Jacqui - strech girlfriend! And don't do too much at once. One thing that I find is that if I am really sore the day after a workout, then working out again actually relieves the soreness. You know, it's that "hair of the dog that bit ya" cure. It actually works. If you want some good advice on the walking, check at Leslie Sansone's In Home Walking I have heard that 3 days a week is good to start, but there is so much info out there. Sheila - sorry, I have no advice, but WELCOME! Cindy - boating sounds soooo nice. I told DH that I want to find a part time job because with him travelling constantly, I am the only one to do the stuff at home and I have no time with working full time. Hope everyone is having a great day!!!

Good morning, Beachers. A new week, a new month, make it count. We have such a good group again. Just like old times.
Sheila, it's good to "see" you again. How many pounds are you up? Remember it's got to be water weight and don't worry. Bump your protein intake up and drink water. When you say you are tired of no carbs, do you mean grains? What kind of oatmeal are you having? What is your exercise routine these days? So many little things can make a difference. I've been trying to lose a few more pounds myself for the last month and keep bouncing down and back up two pounds. Very frustrating.I'm having fun reading about all the exciting adventures while I'm stuck here in the heat catching up on housework. Which reminds me---time to get back at it. |

Good Mornin Beachers,
Today is my 1 month on SB, and I am down a pd today, woohoo, that puts me back to my siggy weight. Lets hope it keeps moving down now. I went back to phase 1 to do it. I had only eggs, meat, salad and some other veggies. I am not sure where to go from here, if I should keep doing phase 1 or switch to phase 2. It seems phase 2 stalls me out. I will see how it goes in the next couple days I guess. Here is my menu for today; B- 2 eggs and slice turkey ham L-Chef Salad S- Deviled eggs D- Chicken and green beans S- PB Cup (maybe) I hope everyone has a great holiday, I am at home doing housework today, fun stuff, but its exercise. Kelly

Happy Labor Day everyone!
I've had a busy weekend...Saturday we went to the fair and I didn't stray too much off plan...had steak on a stick, fried veggies, and a couple of bites of my DH's apple dumpling. Sunday I was back on plan all the way, and the same today. I've been working the last few days planning my lessons for the first week of school. I'm down a pound since last weighing on Saturday morning, and been averaging about a 2-2.5 lbs. loss each week. After 3 weeks on Phase 1, I've been tiptoeing into Phase 2, with a little fruit here and there. L: 2 sausage, pepper, onion and cheese quiche cups (slept in today) S: small apple w/ 2 T. natural PB D: salad with grilled chicken S: sf fudgsicle Enjoy your day! Another gorgeous day here! ![]()

Holy Snikeys....
I just read that the average Americans carb intake is 500 grams daily
. So even if you cut yours to half that, you have to lose weight? |

Hi Everyone!
![]() Well, I'm up another pound since Friday - that brings me to 1lb over my lowest. I've eaten on plan all weekend, probably a little too much but, I've bumped up to P2 and I haven't worked out so I'm not too worried about it. If it's not gone by Friday tho I might rethink my position. ![]() Tina - did the same as you this weekend and got lots of little things done. It's funny how we seem to be on the same page alot. Your post really verbalizes how I'm feeling too. Back on plan and in control. WooHoo for us! ![]() X - Just an FYI - Your menu looks good but be careful if the eggplant parm has breadcrumbs on it. You might want to watch out for the sauce too - unless you make it yourself you're never sure what's in it. In the beginning it's best to make as much as you can yourself. Pre-packaged foods can hide a multitude of sins. There's tons of recipes here and we can always help you with a tweek or two. Congrats on making it thru week one - it does get easier from here. Way to go!! Kelly - 16 pounds in one month is fantastic. Looks like you didn't have to sweat a little stall after all. Remember you're in this for the long haul and ups as wel as downs are to be expected. I would be very surprised if your competitors made it thru this long weekend without overeating and without indulging in some alcohol. I bet most of them put on a pound or two themselves. Let us know how you make out - we're rooting for you. ![]() Hi Sheila - Welcome back ![]() Cindy - I'm with 1of - let DH share the list, then go have a good time. Jacqui - walking is a great way to start exercising - that's what I did. I eventually got to a point where I KNEW it wasn't enough anymore, that's when I hit the gym. Of course it'll be getting a little too cold in Mass to be doing alot of walking (and darker in the AM and PM too) so you might want to go in sooner. If the gym has treadmills that might be your answer - no special talent needed right? ![]() Hugs to Tammy, Rachel, Rose and to anyone I missed ![]() Today's eats: B: Fiber One with blueberries and a few slices of bananas / splenda / 1% milk L: chicken / nsa pasta sauce / mozarella / 1% milk to drink S: Mocha cream / sf cool whip D: steak kabob with nc bbq sauce / salad / dressing / 1% milk S: SF fudgesicle Back to work tomorrow - YUK! Have a great night eveyone! Neesie

Hi Ladies... staying OP and loving it!!!
I don't want to get discouraged about my 1 pound weight gain... so I won't WI till this friday. The weight will come off soon enough. Although I do tend to get impatient. Good Morning Beachers!
Week 13 on the beach for me! I am soooo excited to be getting rid of this weight! Did someone mention that it was around week 12 that people on a "DIET" started falling off the wagon? I made it past that point thanks in large part to this board. LCF is great! ![]() I know my menu yesterday looked kinda light, but I'm finding that for weekends (OR days that I don't work) that if I try to have 3 meals I want to overeat off plan stuff! I experimented this long holiday weekend with just one meal about midafternoon and one snack. I found that I wasn't really that hungry until about midafternoon. So for weekends I may continue the "fasting". Tammy - Don't get discouraged, that lb will be gone in no time. You are correct slow and steady wins the race! Neesie - Woohooo for you too! Most of August I felt out of control. It is awful what one week of off plan eating did to me! Hopefully, I've learned from that mistake, and will just have an occasional "treat" now. X - and great job 6 lbs in one week is awesome!Cindy - Have a good day back at work. Are DDs excited to be going back to school? I have to make my son a drs. appt and he told me to "make it for the weekend" cause he doesn't want to miss any of his classes cause he really likes them all but one. I just have to say I am soooooo blessed that my kids like going to school! ![]() Dani - You are doing great! KUTGW! Kelly heah - 16 lbs! WOW, you rock! Rose - you'll get those 2 lbs of for good! I'm rooting for you.menu for today: b - scrambled egg, turkey sausage l - 1/2 ww bagel, egg salad, tomato s - lc yogurt, berries d - itialian beef, cucumbers, and green beans.

Good Morning Beach gals,
I am down another pd this morning, so that is an all time low for me since starting SB, 17 pds gone!! But that was the only pd I lost this week, so my weigh in this morning for the weight loss contest at work wasnt that great, 1 whole pd, but this other gal weighed in and shes been doing the cabbage soup diet (YUCK), and she only lost 1 pd, she was most upset lol. Anyway, I will keep plugging along and I think I figured out the problem for me, it was the SF, FF pudding desserts I was making, so those are cut out now. I will stick to the "peanut butter cup" I still seem to lose when I eat that. I hope everyone has a great day Kelly |

Good morning ladies! So sad to be back at work, but it is so much easier for me to stay on program when I'm here than on the weekends at home. Yesterday my menu was so off from what I planned. I had two quiche cups for breakfast, then around 2pm we ordered out, I got a Greek salad with grilled chicken, which was amazing. I only ate about half of the dressing they gave, and it was all on program except I'm sure the feta wasn't reduced fat, but I'm okay with that. It was so big and filling though, that I didn't really want dinner, so in the evening I snacked, I had two string cheeses, 30 pistachios and a pickle. For dessert, a mug of Swiss Miss Diet Hot Chocolate, it was so good and I think it was a nice change from NSA fudgcicles when I have a chocolate craving. I hope that's on plan?
My menu for today: B - 3 or 4 hardboiled eggs S - Low carb yogurt L - Chicken Caesar salad from Panera - no croutons S - 15 almonds D - Homemade chicken fajita salad is the plan Have a great day everyone!! |
