Happy Monday, Beachers.

I'm glad to be back at work - painted all weekend and I need a rest!!! Our new bedroom furniture is being delivered today and I'm so excited. We've been married for 27 years and this is the first bedroom set we can truly call our own. Of course, I've found some muscles that I forgot I had during the painting but that will take care of itself.

I'll be checking in here today and tomorrow but then it's vacation time. We're taking the RV to Pymatuning Lake for a week of R&R. I've made up the menu and should be right on track for week but you never know. I finally got all the ingredients for JudyNYC's Flax Bowl Muffins so that's going to be the first thing on the agenda.

So busy this weekend I forgot to prepare for lunch this week. Probably order salads out but trying to stay on-track.

For today:

B - 1 HB egg, V8
L - Salad???
S - Cottage cheese
D - Probably steamed cabbage and grilled hot sausage

Have a great day and talk to you all tomorrow.

Marsha

Good Morning Ladies? (Is our one gent still hanging around??)

Today is the first day of school for my ds11 and dd7. DD changed her clothes 3 times this morning. I will post a pic this evening. I had to be at work, but I made sure DH took one of them. I am NOT looking forward to homework though!

I made and froze the chicken chili on Saturday. I would like to get a few more things frozen. I froze almost all of it in individual servings. It makes everything soooooo convenient. Anyone have any good ideas for things to make that freezes well?

When shopping friday I purchased some alfredo sause. It has 10 grams of fat in a 1/4 cup serving. I thought I could use maybe a couple of tablespoons on some chicken breast for something different. That way it wouldn't add so much fat.

I felt hungry all weekend. TOM is approaching toward the end of the work week and that may be why. Hopefully this will get better as the week goes on. I want to start losing again. Its been weeks since I have seen a new low weight!

Marsha - let us know how the Flax bowl muffin turns out

Cindy - Good Morning!

I'll check back in at lunchtime. Here is my menu for accoutability.

b-scrambled egg w/tbs cheese, 1 pc turkey sausage
l - canadian bacon, green beans
s - lc yogurt w/raspberries and a little sf davincis raspberry syrup
d - chicken chilli and a veggie

Hi everyone.

I had a little hiccup last night and had rice with my pork & veggie stir fry. I refuse to feel horrible about it or anything because even if it is not OP I still made a lot of really positive changes during the past couple of days... for instance, I switched from whole cream and sugar in my coffee to low fat milk and sweetner. I have had only 2 Coke Zeros in the past 4 days (this is day 4) and I have increased my previous veggie intake from maybe one per day to at 4+ (thanks to drinking tomato juice and eating salads).

Yesterday's menu:
B - eggs benedict (sans english muffin)
L - cup of no Tortilla soup and chicken fajita salad
S - ham & laughing cow roll up
D - Pork & veggie stir fry w/ 1/2 cup rice

Today:
B - 1 slice ham & 1 babybel mini, tomato juice
L - no Tortilla Soup
S- celery w/ peanut butter

planned for tonight:
Dinner - steak & fresh, sauteed green beans
Dessert - homemade fudgesicle (low fat milk, cocoa, sweeter)

Question - I found a "sugar free" chocolate-mint bar today. It has 51 calories per square (10 squares per bar... it's a large size bar) with 0.2 g sugar. It is a dark chocolate (70% cocoa... the french LOVE their dark dark chocolate). 2 squares a day should be allowed should't they? (just thinking that the dessert or treat suggestion is for about 100 sugar free calories per day and this fits that criteria.)

Rose - the pic at the beginning is gorgeous. Makes me want to go back on vacation!

Rachel - your pics are amazing. You made the right "mistake" with that hair color, it is very very becoming. Makes you look very glamorous.

Neesie - Thanks for sharing the recipes and salad suggestions.

Tammy - I hope you feel up to 100% soon.

Tina - sounds like we are living parallel lives... kids started school again today, made chiken "tortilla" soup (like chicken chili) this weekend as well as several other things and froze in individual servings for convenience.

Hope everyone else has a marvelous day.

Good morning!

Just a quick hello. I've had a good weekend. I'm down another 1/2 a pound, so that makes 9. Today is my last day of P1. Yay! I'd really like to lose another pound by tomorrow, but I am still waiting on TOM.

I'll be back. Have a great day!

Everyone!

We're re-committing today. We're heading to Phase 1.5 for a while since we've got a bunch of fresh fruit that needs to be used, but we're cutting grain out for a couple of weeks.

All right ladies - let's make this a great week on the beach!

Happy Monday everyone! I'm glad to see everyone's doing well. We had a great weekend at the Eastern Shore, eating delicious seafood, relaxing and, of course, shopping. Now back to work and reality...

I worked out this morning and weighed in at a new low -- down another 1 1/2 lbs! I'm absolutely thrilled to be in the 140's for the first time since I was 21, a looooooooooong time ago! Life is good!!!!

Today's menu:
B: blueberry flax muffin, 1/2 cup LC yogurt
S: 1 tblsp natural peanut butter
L: salmon salad lettuce wraps
S: cucumber or celery with LF cheese
D: chicken and veggie stir-fry with shirataki noodles
S: SF popsicle

Have a great day and week ahead everyone!

Back Again!

PIR - 9 lbs is great! KUTGW! TOM can be quite the pain in the backside, I'm getting real close to mine also!

Tammy - You celebrate! A smaller size is really something to celebrate. I can't wait to get down to a size 14!

Cookie - I think 2 squares of your chocolate bar is ok and by the book. You just have to make sure you are limiting it to the allowable calories. The Lindt dark chocolate is a fave here. I like the Lindt 72% dark chocolate. The 85% Lindt dark chocolate is much more of an acquired taste. I try not to eat it every day, cause then it would become a habit. I try to have it when I'm really having a craving for something sweet.

I'm heading to the grocery store at lunchtime. I hope I have enough time! back later!

Hi girls... I posted this last night but not sure if anyone saw me there since I was the last on the thread before this morning... here's my post:

I will also have to post a quickie tonight because I need to unpack and get to bed while the kids are sleeping!! Can't wait for the 3am feeding..ha!

The weekend has been good... pretty much stayed OP all weekend which was a challenge since I was away from home and eating out... only "cheated" by have a few crackers last night with some gourmet cheeses at the winery... oh and a glass of red wine of course... Maybe it was two glasses? All in all... I am proud for not caving and having all the other carb loaded offerings... I figured cheese with a few VERY thin (like paper almost) crackers and a couple glasses of red wine are not killers and I was back OP all day today in spite of being away from home. So that was great for me! I was able to make good choices when faced with the option to make so many bad choices...

I also learned that my favorite wine is a Syrah!! Yay!

I lost 5 lbs in my first week of Phase 1... would love to lose 5 more this week. I am also getting over a cold so this week I should be back to my run/walk of 2.5 miles 3-4 times this week... I figure I can lose the 5 or close to it by next Sunday.

DH and I had a wonderful weekend to celebrate our anniversary and we are back home now with the babies and can't believe how much we missed them being gone a day and a half!

Quick congrats to Rachel! Size 4... in my dreams... I'll settle for an 8 - will shoot for a 6 though!

Hope to get to post to more of you... here's looking forward to another week on SB!!

As for today...

B= 2 hard boiled eggs, 2 slices turkey bacon
S=string cheese and some almonds and sliced red and yellow peppers
L=chef salad
S=?
D=?

I will do my run/walk today of 2.5 miles and am looking forward to getting back on that schedule for sure... this cold made me feel like doing nothing for a week.

Also on the good news list for today - BOTH my boys slept through the night last night! What a difference that makes in how mommy feels in the morning! Yippie!

Hi Beacher Pals!!
We are having loads of fun today at work. Our phone lines for all our Northeast offices are all screwed up. We're getting calls from Ohio - NY - Indiana - Virgina (we usually oinly take New England member (policy hoolders) calls. Now we're also getting provider (Doctors etc) calls in the mix - they usually go off shore to Manilla. And to top that off our computer systems are working in semi-crash mode - running at a snails pace if it all! WOOHOO!

The scale is playing mind games with me - up a pound since Saturday. I'm getting measured on Thursday tho so that'll be the true test of what's going on. All I gotta say is the new jeans fit fine and that's what counts right?

OMG - this thread takes us into September - UGH!!!

Rachel - meant to tell you - DD got a Newport News catalog over the weekend - the dominate color was PURPLE with grey being a close second. Lots of lace also. I can't wait to go shopping for new fall clothes. I hadn't bought too much this past winter as I had just started SBD in Jan and things still fit me pretty well back then. Can't see the pics on the pc's at work but I know I can see them at home so I'll check them out tonight. Does DD go to private school or si it a public school that now requires a uniform? I went to parochial school for 12 years so I feel for the uniform thing. Easier for mom tho right?

Tammy - Glad you're feeling better! Ya know, I don't really mind spending some money on new clothes as long as the sizes are going down!

Kelly I'm with you ---- Quick congrats to Rachel! Size 4... in my dreams... I'll settle for an 8 - will shoot for a 6 though! ----- I'd love to be a 4 but I doubt I could ever maintain it. I'd be kind of happy with an 8 tho now being a 10 and 8 isn't that far off I don't know if I really would be happy at that size so I am shooting for a 6. I'm thinking I can maintain it while on this plan.

Hi Cindy!! Wish you could spend more time with us! Have a great day!

Marsha -try and eat as lean as you can while on vacation. Those nasty little vacation pounds really know how to sneak in there when you're not looking!

Tina - right there with you girl on not seeing a new low weight for a while - I'm determined to see on this week tho! (I've been determined every week but the scale is not cooperating). Keep your fingers crossed!

Cookie - that's right - accentuate the positive and build from there. At least you recognize the negative for what is and are moving forward - way to go!

Pir8 & Jillian - Awesome - keep it up!

Kelly - good luck tomorrow. Weight fluctuates every day - gotta love it - hopefully tomorrow will be better!

~Kelly - isn't it great when they sleep thru the night like good little boys! WOOHOO for you!

Today's menu:
B: mocha ricotta cream
L: Chicken ceasar salad (no croutons of course)
S: SF Jello - if needed
D: ???? I hate it when I forget to take something out - burgers maybe if I can get DH to BBQ.
S: SF Fudgesicle

Worked out this morning and am drinking plenty of water.

Have a great day everyone!

Hi Gang!

Wanted to pop in for some accountability from over the weekend....didn't do too badly and walked ALOT!

The fair on Saturday; I ate a banana for breakfast as all my SIL had was HUGE muffins and fruit. Figured that was ok since I knew I would partake in fair food.....shared most everything...had some fries, a half of the best chocolate malt ever, 1 cheese curd, 2 small chocolate chip cookies and a small piece of veggie pie. For dinner I ate on plan at SIL's house, but had a small piece of key lime pie for dessert. Sunday we were at the Mall of America and I had a great lunch at Wolfgang Puck of a half of a roasted veggie sandwich and butternut squash soup. We did get Coldstone for a treat and then I was done with all off program eating. I had a salad for dinner on the way home! I feel good today and am glad I went for my walk, but am going to really watch it today!

Jillian - LOVE your avi!!

Tammy - new jeans and a new size? YAY!

Kelly - could it be water weight?

Kelly (Livinla) - YAY for your babies sleeping through the night!

Cookie - I guess if I was to eat chocolate it would be good dark chocolate and I'd stay away from sugar free stuff - too much *junk* in that stuff! And Welcome!

PIR8 - yay for the loss and onto P2!!!!

Hi's to the rest of us - too many to mention!!!

So far today:

2 cups of coffee

bfast: 2 scrambled eggs in EVOO w/shredded rf cheddar
Snack: 15 almonds
Lunch: Cuke slices, lean roast beef in ww wrap with lettuce, rf cheddar, ff honey mustard
Snack: ? On program
Dinner: chicken, veggies and a salad
Snack:? On program

Need to grocery shop and regroup for the week!

I guess it could be water weight, who knows. My boss saw me today after 1 week of being gone and said I looked like I had lost weight, so thats awesome.

Hello everyone! Thanks for all your super-nice comments. You are all motivating me to meet my new goals, and I appreciate your support so much.

Neesie, she's in private school. At first, I thought I would hate the uniforms as I'm a little bit of a free-spirit. But now I love them. So easy for us to know exactly what she's wearing each day. And, she's got great weekend clothes, so she can express her individuality in that kind of way. I know: purple and shades of purple EVERYWHERE! And lace, gotta love the lace.

Kelly, don't let the scale ruin your day. Water weight easily puts me up 2-4 pounds. And, if your boss is saying that you look thinner, that's what to believe. How you look, not what the scale says. Hang in there, stay on plan, keep exercising, and it will keep happening.

Jillian, your avi is so pretty! And, wow, congrats your weight in the 140's. It's always nice to drop into a new category.

Cindy, I sure would love to go to Mall of America! We had coldstone on our trip and it was so yummy. Instead of having it for desert, we had it for dinner. A very good indulgence!!

Kelly, yum, yum, yum, wine and cheese and crackers! How wonderful is that? I would love to go and taste wine sometime. (Puts it on my list after visit Mall of America, *smile*)

Rose, this just seems like a good time of the year to just do it, doesn't it? Maybe it's the whole "back to school" kind of vibe, but I often enjoy good dieting success in September (moreso than the traditional New Year's resolutions!) You guys can do it! I thought of you yesterday when I bought Boca burgers at the market.

PIR, 9 pounds is wonderful! Great start! Keep up the good work!

Tammy, enjoy it! You deserve it! And we're all here enjoying it with you!

Cookie, thanks, I was surprised at how much I like the dark hair. This is pretty close to my natural color but I've been some shade of blonde for about twenty years! I would allow the dark chocolate as long as you ration it and as long as you don't have any problems (i.e. fierce cravings) from it.

Tina, I can't wait to see the pictures. DD did her hair three times this morning, ha. I am not looking forward to homework either. We are totally having to switch from a summer routine of staying up late to a school routine of going to bed earlier. It will be a challenge! I know there are books on how to make a bunch of meals at one time and freeze them--I think one title is "Once a Month Cooking." Even if you don't do a month at a time, they would probably still have some freezer friendly recipes.

Marsha, I bet your new furniture is going to look great! I always forget that painting is a workout all by itself! Will you share pictures when your room is complete? I'm always looking for good decorating ideas!

I think I've said hello to everyone who has posted this morning! If I missed you, hello!
Have a good day everyone, and I'll check with with my progress report this evening.

Rachel

end of the day check in

Oh my... so many posts.

I didn't eat my afternoon snack... I was not hungry and totally forgot about it. Kind of nice. Today was a very good day and I even exercised after work. I have tons of DVD's and today was a new one from the FIRM... total body Timesaver. 45 minutes of cardio/toning intervals. Fun and very good music compared to other FIRM DVD's.

Y'all talkin about getting down to a size 4 cracks me up. I'll be pretty cool with a 10-12, but we are all made different and thank heavens for the variety.

Waves to Rose, Rita, Amiga, Rachel, Kelly, Nessie, Cindy, Jillian, Tina, Kelly, & Jeannie.

Gotta go to sleep now.

Hello to everyone!

Lots of new posters. This is a GREAT group!!

Tammy, YAY!!! on the smaller size!!

I am sitting here smiling about getting the children ready for school; since I just retired from teaching (35 years!!), I don't have to get any new clothes or shoes, but I am going shopping tomorrow anyway!! Ahhhh............!

I saw a new low on my scale this morning, but DH and I went out for dinner for my b'day and I splurged a little. Had a little pasta and ended with a creme brulee. Back on track tomorrow!

Will be back later. to everyone!

Wow, so many posts in one day! You busy little Beachers!

Rachel, I love your new haircut!

I had a good day at work. My classroom is almost ready and we had an English Dept. meeting. My students were supposed to start tomorrow, but they are renovating our building and the parking lot, so they aren't coming back till next Tuesday. I'm kinda glad--- gives me more time to get things settled and get used to my new co-workers.

B: coffee, eggs
L: chicken salad
S: string cheese
D: leftover taco salad
S: sf fudgsicle

to all---

Hi everyone and thanks again for letting me share my pictures with you and for all your nice comments! My DD had a pretty good first day...but she's got a temporary teacher! He's only there for two weeks and then she'll have someone else!! I don't quite understand what's going on, but she's okay with it, so I guess I am as well.

Here's my recap for the day:

Did I exercise? Yes, 20 minutes of Pilates this morning, I would have done more but was running late as it was dds first day of school.

Did I eat sugar? Maybe, but not on purpose. There might have been a little in the sauce that I had with my beef and veggie dish at the Chinese food restaurant. However, I did not eat cookies, cake, ice cream, chocolate, or candy, so that's good.

Did I eat in my window? Yes, opened at 12:30 and finished eating about 5:50. Today I had: beef and veggies with brown rice, yogurt w/peanut butter, steak with more veggies, and some whole grain couscous.

Today was Day 1 but I am unsure on a few things I ate ...

Here was my menu, keep in mind I wanted to do groceries this weekend to stock up on foods I could eat but between working and dh's ball tournament that didn't happen!

Breakfast - 1% milk (I boiled eggs but forgot to grab them before I left this morning..)

Lunch - Low fat turkey breast, mayo & cheese on a tortilla wrap (with veggies) I think the wrap was cheating but I don't know if we can have a few carbs???

Dinner - Chicken burger (not breaded)

Snack - cucumber slices with bruchetta (tomatoes ok?) and feta cheese

So how'd I do??????

Hi Sarah! to the check in. There's a "sticky" at the top of the board which gives guidelines if you don't have the book.

Breakfast: Eggs for breakfast is a good idea - next time remember to take some! Add some veggies - a few cherry tomatoes would be good, or drink a serving of V-8 juice. Or, you can add veggies to a quiche or omelette.

Lunch: No wraps until Phase 2! You can however make a "wrap" with a large lettuce leaf.

Dinner: We need some veggies and/or salad at dinner.

Snack: No bruschetta - again, no grains until Phase 2.

Hang in there Sarah - you'll get it! Once you get the basics down, South Beach is a very simple, easy to follow plan.

To Sarah... I think the bruschetta was ok if it was on cucumber slices and not bread... is that what you meant?

Rachel... not sure why you are doing all of your eating in a 5 hour window but great job!

I walked/jogged 3 miles today - which was more than I had planned. I went with my girlfriend who used to be kinda chubby but now she has that "yoga" body! She is an inspiration also and we got to catch up on each other since we hadn't seen each other in a couple of weeks, so that was a bonus!

I stayed OP all day... feeling like I need something before bed so I might have 2 tbsp peanut butter to get me through the eve.

I am seriously hoping my walking/jogging will move the scale... it hasn't moved in a couple of days and I'm sure it's because I had wine over the weekend. Maybe I won't count the weekend in my 2 weeks and give myself 2 more days on Phase 1.

Do you guys weigh every day? I never used to, but now I'm obsessed! What to do??
