Kelly - Lemon Torte? Think I missed that one. Where did you get the recipe? I myself am craving banana nut muffins and I think I'll be making flax banana muffins real soon.
![]() Here is the mocha cream recipe. I got it off the Jello website. They actually call it cappucino cream but mocha is easier to spell and I tweeked it to be SB friendly. There are lots of tweekable recipes on their ste since the main ingrediants - jello and pudding mixes are available in sf varieties. 1 pkg cream cheese (I use low fat) 1 cup strong brewed coffee at room temp 1/2 cup milk 1pkg Jello SF chocolate pudding mix (the original recipe states vanilla but I wanted it more on the chocolate side) 1/4 tsp cinnamon 1 tub SF Cool Whip Beat cr cheese in large bowl on medium until creamy. Gradually add coffee & milk, beating until well blended. Add pudding mix and cinnamon. Beat on low 2 minutes. Let stand 5 minutes ntil thickened. Stir in 2 cups of the SF cool whip. Spoon into dessert glasses (they say 10 servings - I got 8) - I use 1 cup food containers so I can take mine to work. Refrigerate overnight. Top with a dollop of the SF Cool Whip when serving. Made a batch of chicken fajitas for dinner tomorrow night. Here's that recipe: 4 large green peppers chopped into medium sized pieces 4 large onions chopped 4 chicken breasts cut into bite size pieces Chili powder to taste - at least 1 tbsp salsa and sour cream if desired cook chicken, onions and peppers together until cooked thru, you may need to add water so it doesn't stick, drain if necessary. Add chili powder Serve with salsa and sour cream and a side salad This recipe is great for the whole family. Non-SBers can have it with tortillas and we can have it in a bowl or with LC tortillas if you're in p2. Cindy - Furbabies - never heard that term before -I love it!! Danielle - I'm 47 and I absolutely love video games. I play lots of them on my PC. My DS has had every Nintendo system known to man and has allways been the game pro of his gang of friends. I particularly love the oder games - Super Mario (any one of them), Adventure Island, Lemmings, Kablooey, Donkey Kong etc. Love them all. They are a stress reliever but oh so addicting! Gotta get back to the Sox - Yankees game. We're losing at the bottom of the fifth but I still have hope! Have a great night Neesie

Hi all!
Hope you all had a good day! Neesie, I am thrilled for you that you have lost 32 pounds. You are just one or two sizes away from your goal...that's so terrific! DD is happy back at her regular school, and it makes me feel happy to have her come home happy. She's been doing her homework at school, so no homework to get used to yet! Jan, we are lucky, the uniforms are wash and wear (wrinkle free) or I think I'd be taking them all to the dry cleaner! I'm proofing chapters at home tonight, so this needs to be short! But I am thinking of you all and sending lots of good thoughts to all of you. Hi all... Daily Recap Did I exercise? Yes, total of 36 minutes today. Did I eat sugar? I confess, I had a bite or two of whipped cream from my daughter's brownie sundae. Did I eat in my window? Yes, 12:15-6:15, a six hour window. Have a good night all!

Hi everyone!
Day 2, P2, was good, although I didn't workout. I was cramping this afternoon and just didn't feel like it. Went to dinner with my parents. My mom and I split a steak and baked sweet potato (just butter and cinnamon and I added splenda). We are dealing with some crazy stuff at work. There are major problems in Financial Aid and about 500 schedules are in danger of being dropped friday because of non-payment, though many are waiting on financial aid. So, they asked the advisors to e-mail students. I think it is ridiculous. It's just creating more problems. I am off to bed. See you in the morning!

Lost a little enthusism today
I thought that I did great all day yesterday, but the problem came in when I finally ate dinner at 10 pm. I think that, that in itself hurt my diet. When I stop eating by 7 I always notice a loss. Anyway this morning was a 1 pound gain which sort of put me in a downer!!! Today I had
B- iced coffee with lf milk and splenda/ string cheese L- pintos and cheese (big run around day with the kids) and chicken strips D - meat loaf/ string beans sn - bites of ice cream - no will power today. I can't eat after 8 pm because then I just give in. Also I need to preplan food for the run. What is there to eat when you are out and about? A little about me _ it was nice to hear about many of you I am 40 but don't feel like I should be 40. I have been married to the boy I met my first day of college so we have been together for 22 years and married for 15 almost 16. I have 3 awesome kids. DS (I am learning some of these short cuts!!!) is 12 and plays football/ DD 10 and DD 7 who are both competitive cheerleaders. They do very good. I have a black lab - Savy who is quite sick and it may only be days/ weeks for her here on Earth. I am always on the run with my kids - I want to do it and I love it. I love watching them practice and playing. I teach so I am home all summer with them. That really has left me only a hand ful of hours alone, without One of my kiddies. (I rarely make it to the BR w/out one at the door ) I love teachin and start back next Tues. I have been successful in my life with my family, kids, and job (I changed schools after 9 years and after 3 in my new school became Teacher of the Year!!!) My downfall is time for me - thus I am a little fluffy - I weight a lot but am a size 12 - I can carry it well I guess. I love to work out - but don't since I have no time. I really want to do Pilates and Yoga - I have never done them, but would like to. I did the 3 Day walk for Cancer 2 years ago - 60 miles and it was great. i walk in life but not as definite exercise. I know that I should find time, but it is really hard. I have a nice home and try to keep it up and neat and I always think that I should be with my kids since they grow up so fast in stead of finding time to exercise. The time I do find is filled with laundry and house stuff. I guess this is way to much info, but I got on a roll. I will not eat ice cream tomorrow and I will stick with the program. I have a wedding to attend in a few weeks and 10 pounds would make the dress look better !!! Thanks to all of you who who made it easy to add on here and make me welcome. I appreciate it!!! Melrose |

g'nite ladies...
I'll quickly check in as I am exhausted tonight! TOM always does that to me. Stayed OP all day.... I think I over indulged on the sf candies tonight though... but I am way too tired to care! A bit about me.. I am 34, my DH is only 26 (yes I am 8 years OLDER than him!) and I win! Luckilly he hasn't figured out yet that I'm getting the better end of the deal! We have two boys - DS #1 is 16 months and DS #2 is 4 months - they are a year and 8 days apart. I am an Army veteran... I was an Arabic translator. It was very exciting but I am glad that's over because surely I'd be in the Middle East right now if I were still in. We live in the Seattle area with our two boys and big furbaby German Shepherd named Casey. Man I am tired... hoping to do personals tomororrow! Oh and you guys can call me KellyB as my last name starts with B.

Kelly B - I'm 9 years older than my DH. He just turned 29 and I'll be 38 next month. So glad I'm not the only one. (and I feel like I'm getting the better end of the deal too.) Do you still translate?

Good Morning All,
My weight is still saying the same!! I didnt work out yesterday though, but I am going to force myself today. I am not going to win the money at this rate. Cookie- My pic was taken on the stairs of the big white church up on the hill, I cant remember the name of it, but there are a ton of stairs, they even have like a cable car to take you to the top of it. I guess that would be good exercise to go walk those stairs. Speaking of exercise if you go to Notre Dame, that is a killer walk too, I was dying going up those stairs to the top and you get dizzy too because they go in circles, but it was worth seeing. I think my favorite was the Eiffel Tower though. Also there was like this big hotel that we went to the top of at night too and you can stand outside on the very top and see all of Paris at night, that was pretty awesome too, we took some cool pictures from there. Its really all worth seeing in my opinion. Neesie, the Lemon Torte receipe was posted in last weeks check in thread, I just went in there and printed it off, I think it was like on page 4. It would be better with lemon zest in it though, my mom was over and I Gave her a slice too and she thought it was pretty tasty. Here is my menu for today: B- Quiche s- v-8 L- Mexicali bake over salad s- string cheese d- Chicken and green beans s- SF Jello if needed I hope everyone has a great day !! Kelly E. |

Just to catch the newbies up....I am 36, single (never married, no kids), have two cats (DCs, ha ha), and work as an Academic Advisor for a university in NC. I've always struggled with my weight since puberty. Most of the time in college I was at a pretty healthy weight, I just needed to tone, but I was never an athlete and didn't know anything about that. I never had a car in college so I got a lot of exercise walking everywhere. After college, I had a rough time getting a real job. I got a job as Asst. Manager of a convenience store and gained 30 pounds in 6 months because of all the junk I ate. I eventually ended up at 250-255 and have been up and down since then. In Jan 2004, I started SB for the first time. Big motivation came the day after I started when a friend asked me to be a bridesmaid in her wedding that summer in Florida. I got down to 182 that summer and it's crept back up, but I'm on my way back down now. My first big goal is to get to 199 by Christmas (I can do it before then if I don't get off track). After that, 182, and then I'll go from there. I'd love to get back to the 150s.
Kelly B and Cookie, I am all about the older woman younger man thing. I'm 36 and have a history of being interested in much younger men. It's rare that I find a man my age that I'm interested or attracted in. I think the problem is that they act too old. Melrose, I'm in a similar boat with you. I weigh alot (229 right now) but carry it well, even though I'm not exceptionally tall (5' 6"). People, even nurses at the doctor's office, never think I weigh that much. I'm a size 16 in most things now, but when I was about your weight I could wear 12s. I hope to be back there soon! I'm holding steady again today. I have a lot to do today. I didn't make it to the gym yesterday but I am going to get there today. |

Morning Ladies... I'm OP and feelin fine. Getting over that cold virus... slowly but surely... feel human again.
Wow... everyone shared their personal stories... isn't that something. I like that!!! We're a great group. Menu for today Breakfast: 1 coffee with 2%, 1 medium banana Snack: 1 tangerine Lunch: 2 small whole wheat wraps with shredded Lf cheddar, tomato, LF mayo Snack:? Supper: don't know yet... will post it later. TOM is almost over... and I seemed to have gained one pound... but I'll burn it off soon enough. No worries. I'm being trained for a new position at work... and trying to juggle my other job at the same time... a little multitasking... this way I will have more skills and will be more flexible. The more I know... the more money I earn... and I'll been a value to the company. ![]() You'll have a great OP day!!!

Hi everyone! I have exciting news to share! I weighed in this morning and am down another 1.5 lbs, and then when I came out of the bathroom, my boyfriend proposed to me!!!
I am floating on cloud 9, and I just realized I hadn't eaten anything yet today, so I quickly ate a low carb yogurt, and some ham and cheese rollups. Tonight we're going to take my parents out for dinner, but I definitly intend to stay on plan. I have a wedding to prepare for! |

Hi All
![]() Just a quick pop-in to let you know I haven't fallen off the face of the earth... Long story, but the end result is that our internet service isn't working from where we are staying right now... DH had an eye appointment, so I'm sitting in the waiting room with the computer on my lap. Still OP and doing well... I'll get back here to "ketchup" with you all once we have service. I miss you guys! ![]() Ellen |

Hi Beachers!
![]() Okay so I got measured this morning. There's good news and bad news. The good is I lost 1/2 and inch of my butt and stayed the same in many other places. The bad news is I'm still hanging on to that nasty little half pound from vacation and a few places went up a tad - like half an inch. I'm thinking that my body isn't being effected by the P1 during the week and P2 on weekends thing anymore either - too much P1 maybe? So I also want to revamp my eating and I need your opinions. Should I: #1: go really lean and eat very clean or #2: bump up to P2 all the time. I started on P2 and did well but that was in the beginning. What do you guys think? I'm very determined to get over this hump. I won't make my Labor day goal but I'll be happy if I make it by the end of September. Jacqui - congrats on the engagement! OMG how cool! Have you set a date? Pir8 - hope things work out for you at school. Those first 2 weeks are always insane especially when financial aid is invloved. ![]() Melrose - Isn't it funny - you think you did so well the day before that you'll surely see a drop on the scale but - no go. Happens to me all the time. As I mention above the fitness trainer at the gym told me there are so many factors beside food that play into it we're always going to see various fluctuations up and down - sometime with no explanation. Personnaly, I'm blaming it on the full moon! But don't feel discouraged - we all have our little roadblocks to overcome from time to time. The good thing is you recognize it for what it is and can move on. So you go girl!! As for food on the go, one suggestion is to get some of the South Beach snack packs or cereal type bars and keep 1 (only 1) in your purse. I wouldn't eat them as part of your regular diet and they're really p2 or p3 but when you really need something when you're out they're an alright choice and they're portion controlled too so that helps also. For workouts there are tons of pilates and yoga tapes out there. I know there is even a "Yoga in Bed" DVD (that's my next treat when I break into the 140's). Get ones that have short workout times - 15, 20 or 30 minutes. They usually pack a big punch in a short period of time. ![]() Tina - SO funny thinking you DH was an idiot when you met him. I kind of thought the same thing - some times I still do! ![]() Kelly - thanks for the info on the recipe - I'll check it out Tammy - it's awesome that they're teaching you more at work. They must really like what you've already been doing. Way To Go! Cindy - I should be working too. During the day I post while I'm covering the switchboard during breaks and lunch. It takes me all morning to write because I only get a few minutes here and there. There's actually not much else I can do sitting here except read which I do alot of. Today's menu: B: cheese omelet / tea L: chicken fajitas / no tortilla S: none D: Will be at a local cafe using their wifi connection to download some music. Will just have a small salad. S: SF Fudgesicle. Won't have one if I get home too late. Have a great day Beachers! Will check in tonight.Neesie |

Hey, Everyone, just finished lunch and have a few minutes before I have to get back to work.
Ellen - I hope you get your service back soon. We miss you. How are the in laws doing? Jacqui - CONGRATULATIONS! on your engagement. Down 1.5 lbs and a proposal! ![]() Cindy - the flaxmuffin recipe is on the recipe board. I have the recipe for the 1 minute muffin at home if that's the one your looking for. KellyE. - Stick to the plan, the weight will come off! Don't get discouraged you are doing great. I'm sure the losses for the other contestants have started to slow down also. We're rooting for you. Livinlavida - We are about the same age (I'm 35). 2 kids under the age of 2. I was thinking just shoot me! Enjoy them cause they grow up sooooooooo fast.Melrose - I know what you mean about not going anywhere without the kids. EVERYWHERE I go they go. DD will follow me into the bathroom. Every once in a while I'd like to be able to have a relaxing time doing something without them. It doesn't have but maybe once a year, but sometimes its nice. Rachel - Lucky you, no homework yet. DS hasn't had any yet, but DD has had tons every night already. Most of it I think is review stuff, cause she's flying right threw it, but sheese. 2 pages of math, 2 pages of reading handouts, and spelling word. ![]() ![]() Neesie - It goes without saying that occasionally I still think that about DH! My vote would be to go completely phase 2 and see how you do.Star, PIR, Amiga, Cookie, Jan, mygems, akmd, and Dani ![]() ![]() ![]() Have a great SB day everyone. |

Hi Beacher Pals
![]() Sitting her at the local Panera Bread downloading music and I thought I'd check in. The have free wifi and I have dial-up at home, plus it's right down the street from work so it's not out of my way. I had grilled chicken caesar salad which I forgot to ask them not to put the croutons on - I didn't eat even 1. I aslo had lemon ice tea with Splenda and an apple. It was all so wonderful! Sharon - this is THE place to be if you're doing South Beach and you've picked a perfect time. Many of us have just posted a little history of ourselves so you'll get to know us pretty quickly. Please do the sme if you like! Don't be shy - jump right in. Ask as many questions as you want and post often. Most of us post at least 2x a day and find that it really help us stay strong. This is so AWESOME - I can't believe how m any newbies and returners there are now. It's so exciting! Tina and Melrose - PLEASE do yourself a favor and MAKE the time for yourself - even if it's just one hour a week. Get a massage, see a movie with a friend, go shopping, whatever but DO IT!! I learned when my kids were young that if you don't take time for yourself you can lose yourself and your mind )- so DO IT!! 1of - we miss you - come backk soon! ![]() Gonna run - time to head home -see you all tomorrow! Good evening, Beachers!
Welcome to QWEEN!! Congrats to Jacqui on your engagement! AND you lost weight also!! Awesome! ![]() Question - Has anyone ever ordered from this website? I want to order some flax and a few davinci syrups because I am anxious to try the muffin recipes I see here, but I am a little nervous about ordering from a new company, especially on the web. (I guess I am a dinosaur, but "mail order" used to mean you actually wrote out a check and mailed it with your order to the company!! ) I don't think my DD has ever worried about these things; when she wants something, she sends an order by email! Hi to everyone! This is a great site, but it is getting harder to remember all the names!! I was going to tell a little about myself, but I think I already have! For the newbies: I am 57 and have battled my weight most of my life. (I remember when my mother took me shopping for a dress or something and we had to go to a store that sold "Chubbettes". Can you imagine?? It's a wonder I am not in intense counseling still!) I have been married for 36 years (to the same guy, no less!) and we have one DD. She will be 30 in January. We also have a 2year old long-haired doxie named Susie. I have just retired this past June from teaching 8th grade English for 35 years. I think I have finally found a WOE that I can really live with, just wish I were losing a little faster! I belong to a gym and have been going 3X a week for the past year. The muscles are there, just have to get rid of the fat layer! I have been having a problem with my back for about 2 years, so maybe that hinders me also. (I know - for an English teacher, my paragraphing is poor here, but this is "stream of consciousness" writing!) Good luck to all of us losers!! Jan |

Wow, so many new posts!
AWESOME!!I have to say...I am not really following any form of South Beach any longer, so I'm not going to post menus here because I don't want to confuse people who are reading our thread for information. However, I adore all of you and will still check in on a regular basis to support you and to cheer you on. South Beach is still kind of my home base, but I think I've tweaked it past saying that I'm following this plan. But I'll still be around. ![]() Neesie, you know that I'm the ultimate tweaker, so take my advice in stride! I am going to tweak up my food a little bit and really limit my calories on Sundays, Tuesday, and Thursdays. On the other days, I will eat what I want for lunch and dinner (but no sugar). I'm not saying you should do this...but...I wonder what would happen if you ate lean&green on three days a week and did Phase 2 four days a week. Kind of calorie/carb cycling. |

Oooooooooooooo so many posts!!!
![]() First off, congrats Jacqui on your engagement! ![]() Melrose--- I highly recommend trying both yoga and pilates. I've been practicing yoga for a year now and it has done wonders for my body in terms of strength and flexibility. I used to not be able to touch my toes, and now I can, along with much more challenging poses like shoulderstand. I am excited to continue to lose weight and sculpt my body with SB and yoga. Amiga---thanks for posting that yoga link. I'll check it out. Neesie--- I love old school Nintendo as well! I'm down another 1/2 pound today :-)

Yoga might be the option
Amiga thanks for the yoga site. i book marked it and will look at it when i get a peaceful moment.
Danipower - I will try to do something and maybe yoga at home in the am might be my option. once school starts i am running with work and the kids. thanks Nessie - I will try to find time for me. I need a mental break so as I see things - yoga might be the option. Today wasn't too bad. I think I am not 100% knowing we are going away this weekend - we have an RV and are planning on outlet shopping and camping in Lancaster Pa. I think I have it that I will do the best until mon when the routine is back in play. I really do look forward to everyones posts. They are inspirational and I can't wait to read more. Good night |
