Recipe question

I made this muffin recipe (posted on this board) last night and just had one for breakfast but I have a question on one of the ingrediants. Here is the recipe:
Very Berry-Orange Oat Muffins Phase 2

1/2 cup rolled oats
1/2 cup reduced-fat buttermilk
1-1/2 cups whole-wheat flour (or pastry flour)
1 teaspoon of baking powder
1/2 teaspoon of baking soda
1/2 teaspoon of ground cinnamon
1/4 teaspoon of salt
1 medium orange, rind and the juice
1/2 cup sugar substitute
1/4 cup canola oil
1 whole egg
1 cup of blueberries (fresh or frozen)
1/2 cup dried cranberries
Cooking spray

I made the recipe as above except I substitued 1/2 chopped walnut for the blueberries - forgot to buy them.

My question is on the cranberries - the dried cranberries - I used Craisens from Ocean Spray - are all sweetened. Are these allowed? The net carbs is 33.1 in 1/3 cup. Sounds like alot to me. Are there other types of dried cranberries out there?

What do you think?

Sorry Neesie I have no answer for your question just didn't want you to think we were ignoring your question hopefully Rose will chime in with the answer when she has time. I only make flax muffins as they are only 1 net carb.

Neesie, you probably will need to visit a large health food store to find unsweetened cranberries, but they do exist. Be warned, they are TART. You could use raisins or just leave them out.

I found dried crans in bulk in the health foods section of my supermarket. They were still 29g of carbs per 1/3 cup - 3g fiber = 26 net grams - still alot but I guess if you divide it up between 12 muffins it's just over 2 grams. Personnaly I think that's still alot as the muffins are small. I will definately look for the unsweetened kind next time I go to the actual health foods store.
Thanks for all the input!
