Good Morning, Beachers! I hope everyone had a great weekend!
I was really proud of myself. I was out-of-town, visiting family and attending a wedding shower for my cousin and stayed on plan with the exception of a small piece of cake at the shower. My mom and I went shopping friday. Everything I tried on fit ! I even bought two pairs of pants that are a size smaller than what I bought last month. YAY. I also got a sexy red dress that I will take on the cruise.Today was weigh in day at work. I am down 4 pounds from last week! Today starts week 5 of the contest. I have lost 11 pounds during those 5 weeks but 14 or 15 overall. Right now I am very happy with my progress. Hi to all who follow. I hope you all have a great day!

Hi all!!
PIR8~ That's great news about the clothes fitting!! Doesn't that feel great!! Good for you for sticking to plan over the weekend! That's so hard to do for a lot of us!! Torri~ Of course I know where you are coming from!! The weekends are the hardest for me as I tend to "boredom eat." Sitting around the house with nothing to do but munch away. I've been really good these past couple of weekends because I know I want to get this weight off and I have to start thinking about that everytime I want to go fix myself something to eat. You can do it. It's just mind over matter!! ![]() Ok, I have to do a quick post. I'm going to be on the road most of the day today because of work. But.... I did ok this weekend. Went to the zoo with my kiddos and my mom. Planned to have just tuna w/lettuce or just straight out of the bowl. Ended up having a sandwich before we went in, then after we came out of the zoo. So 4 pieces of white bread, total. Didn't get enough water through out the weekend, and my MIL brought over about 20 lbs of sugar free Jelly Belly jelly beans. So I had a few of those. Not too many, but any is more than I should. However, today is officially the end of 2 weeks on P1, and my weight today is.......... 168!! So, that was a total of a 10 lb loss in Phase 1. I'm scared to transition, but I know I need to. Today I added 1 tblsp of Grape Nuts cereal to my yogurt. I'll see how that affects me as I go on this week. I'd love to add in some strawberries, but like I said, I'm really worried about slowing my weight loss. Summer is coming up and I need to get this weight off. Ok, that's my long winded post for now. Hi to those that check in later. I'll try to get back on here tomorrow morning!!

Amy, wow! Congratulations on your excellent phase one loss!
Pir, down four pounds from last week is fabulous!! And isn't it a great feeling when you go to try on clothes and they fit? I love that. Silver, I'm opposite. The weekends are easiest for me because it's just me and my daughter and it's easy to stay on track with her. The weekdays are more difficult because of temptation at work (having people buy me sweets and bring them to me and say, here, I bought this for you, I do hope you want to eat it....big bowls of candy on the table at meetings...having to put together the correct food and bring it with me.... Jeannie, welcome! So glad to see you here! Will report back in later...got to go and get ready to face my day! Rachel |

Hi Torri Girlfriend!
I am totally with you about weekends! I ate on plan - as far as I can see - all weekend and gained a pound back - ugh! It'll come off pretty quick as weekend weight usually does for me once I'm back at work. It still feels like a step backward tho. The only thing I ate that might have been a little off was Steak tips with mushrooms from the Longhorn Steakhouse on Sat. There was no sauce on them but in hindsight they were marinated with something. Other than that I was so good. I had steamed veggies - not potato and no desert!! Went to the movies too and did not eat popcorn. It's probably because I didn't do any real exercising except for cleaning. This week is kinda iffy for me. One of my dogs' birthday is Thursday and we always have a little party for them - dorkie I know. We humans have cake and ice cream and the dogs have special treats. I will skip the ice cream but I will have the smallest possible sliver of cake. This week I am adding more leafy greens to my menu and plan on hitting the gym at work. Todays menu: B: Very Berry-Orange Oat Muffins (recipe from this board) & Green Tea (black) S: Small apple L: 3oz tuna with mayo and some baby carrots S: Strawberries D: 1C Leftover Chili - Yum S: SF Fudg Bar - Maybe Have a great day SB'ers! Mondays are the only at work days that get to me..... because they always have pastries here on Mondays. But I'm handling them better than popcorn and stuff like cinnamon toast, etc. Smells are hard for me to resist. My husband made both popcorn and cinnamon toast yesterday.
I guess I should give myself credit for ONLY having potato salad! I made it myself, so I know it was sugar free. I need to stop beating myself up over a potato. ![]() I also need to start planning for my lunch. We were running late today and I did not pack a lunch last night. I might go out for lunch and pick up a grilled chicken salad or something. Congratulations to all who lost weight this week, and hugs to those who are struggling like me. I'm going to check into joining curves, maybe I can find a low impact workout to help burn some of this fat until I can get my metabolism going again.

Good morning everyone! I've got tons of errands to run, so I have to make this quick.
Amy: Great job! Good luck on Phase 2. I start tomorrow. Have to sit down later and figure what I am going to incorporate back in. Jeannie: PIR8LUVR: Had the same trouble this weekend with bridal shower cake. We just have to brush it off and continue forward. Congrats on your shopping spree! I love the feeling of putting something on and having it fit! Enjoy your cruise! Where are you sailing from/to? Torri: You'll may find it easier at work if you pack your lunch and snacks. I also take 0 money with me, so that I cannot buy or order anything at work. Maybe we can walk around with nose plugs to avoid smelling the treats . It may become a new fashion trend. My menu for the day....... b--1 egg omelet w/1 slice of boiled ham and decaf s--sf jello l--shrimp salad on lettuce greens s--sunflower seeds d--unknown at this hour.....have to go shopping! Hope everyone has a great day! |

Hello everyone and happy Monday!
Congrats to all who are doing so well (with a call out to Amy and PIR8) and a big hug to those who are struggling. I know how hard weekends can be because that's where I always used to fall apart. But when I started this plan in January, I decided that I had to change my weekend routines or I would never lose the weight. So I had to start getting up and going to the gym, stayed away from places that had my biggest food temptations, avoided sitting at home where I'd have the urge to snack, got all of the crappy food out of the house, etc. It was hard in the beginning, but it got easier and now weekends are just like any other day where I stay on plan. I strongly believe you have to look at what makes you eat, then do everything in your power to change your surroundings, behavior, and whatever triggers you most. With all that said, however, I know it's difficult to do and it took me a long time to do it. This morning, I hit the gym to work out and weigh-in. I've lost 1/2 a lb -- not great, but I'm OK because ... I lost another 1/2 inch off my waist and a FULL inch off my hips!!!! I credit the inches lost in my hips/butt to my elliptical workouts. I've been good about sticking to my 5-6 day a week workouts and I do the elliptical every single time, some days more than others depending on what else I'm doing. So I'm very happy and motivated for the week ahead. Besides, I am now 1 lb -- one single lb -- away from hitting the 25 lb loss mark. I can't wait. You will probably hear the screams from wherever you are! Today's menu: B: Cup of LF-LC vanilla yogurt with slivered almonds L: Tuna salad in lettuce wraps S: Laughing Cow cheese wedge and some blueberries D: grilled salmon with veggie stir-fry S: ricotta creme (my hubby LOVES these) and lots of water I have a lot of press releases to write today, but will try to get out and enjoy the sunshine. Have a great day everyone! Torri: I just saw your latest post. I'm SO GLAd your ankles are back!!! Have a wonderful day! ![]()

Hi all,
Thank you to everyone who responded to my SOS post. I'm much better today and doing great with Phase 1 so far. I do have one confession to make - I loath lowfat/nonfat dairy! I would rather eat small quantities of the full-fat stuff than include larger quantities of the LF/FF garbage. So that's what I decided to do for Phase 1 - include a little full fat cheese (no more than an ounce a day) and whole milk yogurt (no more than a cup a day) instead of including large quantities. I do want to lose weight but I want to construct a plan I can live with or I'll slide into cheat binges. Menu for the day: I should explain that I eat mini meals rather than big meals/snacks. Psychologically, I find incorporating protein/good carbs/fats into every meal helps me stay on plan. Also, I'm a vegetarian so no meat. I'm trying to stay away from too many processed foods (though being a vegetarian, most of my protein sources are processed ) and stick with whole, real foods.Anyway... Morning: tofu stir-fried with mushrooms, zucchini, green onion, and a dash of soy sauce; 1/2 cup yogurt with a little SF syrup, Splenda (another processed food I'm trying to get away from) and 7 walnut halves (ok, stupid question here - I know the food lists give nuts in terms of count, but I find it easier to weigh them - so are the portions given about 1 oz of nuts? In other words, is the portion of 15 walnuts about an ounce?) Mid-Morning: tehina (a sesame seed butter dip made with SS butter, lemon juice, garlic, olive oil, and spices - I'll post my version on the recipes thread) with celery, cauliflower, and a couple of cherry tomatoes Afternoon: Boca burger with mustard and oven-roasted veggies from the SBD book (forgot how yummy these are and how easy to make) Mid-Afternoon: Gazpacho, also from the SBD book, with 1/3 avocado, cubed (may not end up having this) Evening: Greek salad with chickpeas, 1/2 cup yogurt with 1 tbsp nut butter and splenda (if you haven't tried this as a Phase 1-friendly desert, I recommend it - very rich and filling!) Another question about the sweet treats allowed. My understanding is that you're limited by calories (75-100) but not by sugar free or non sugar free. One thing I love is a couple of squares of dark chocolate to end my day. I'm no talking about the faux Hershey's Special bar, I'm talking about the real stuff - like Lindt's 70% cocoa chocolate. I find a few squares really curbs my chocolate craving and it's less processed than the SF fudgsicles. A few squares adds up to about 90 calories, so is it ok for me to have that as my sweet treat? Sorry for all the questions! Tam |

Hello!! I had another wonderful day on the beach, ahhhh! I had a presentation at work this afternoon, and it just went so well because I was feeling happy and not stressed. My food for the day:
b-whole grain kashi waffle w/1 tbsp natural peanut butter l-grilled chicken, salad, piece of laughing cow cheese, dressing s-a few almonds, a piece of laughing cow cheese d-4 oz grilled steak, salad, dressing s-ff nf yogurt with raspberries...yum!! Tam, hmmmm, those are great questions. I don't know about the chocolate...what's the sugar content of it? My biggest concern would be how it's sweetened. Phase 1 is all about getting rid of cravings, and I'd be most worried about the chocolate being too sweet. Intellectually, I understand your reasoning, but I'd probably personally wait until P2 before tweaking things too much. What can I say? I'm a Libra and can argue either side, ha! |

Tam, here's the official answer from the site:
Can I eat 70% dark chocolate as a sweet treat? The best choice is dark chocolate as you are asking about. Even though dark chocolate has some healthy nutrients, it can still be a diet buster if enjoyed too often and in too great amounts. This is why it is advised to enjoy sparingly or as an occasional treat in Phase 2 or 3. Enjoy! |

I hate fat free diary, except for milk. I can tolerate that, but definately NOT FF (or even LF) cheese.
I have to admit, once again, that even though the scale is not moving, and Im not on plan 100% I am shrinking. My waist is noticably smaller this week. On the other hand...... I got weighed, measured and BF% calculated today at Curves. I almost cried. But I'm going to try hard to do the complete 30 minutes tomorrow on my trial membership this week. If I can make it through this week, I'm going to join. But if I wake up the next day and can't walk (fibro reaction) I will try two more workouts. If no improvement, there's no since in signing up for a year. Well, time for some TV and hubby time. Night all |

Good morning to all!
I just finished Phase 1 this morning with an 8 pound weight loss! I am very satisfied with this lifestyle and look forward to Phase 2. I am looking forward to adding fruit to my menu. My goal for this week is to lose 1 pound. I would love to get out of the 170s this upcoming week. The familia and I went bike riding yesterday after dinner. I will also try to do 1 physical activity a day. Wether it is cleaning the house dancing to music or just walking around the block....something must be done! I actually can't wait for the pool water to heat up.....being a Floridian I have fins for feet! Well, ladies and gents, have a great day on the beach and I'll pop in later! |

Welcome Tammy. I think you will enjoy it here on the Beach
I don't follow it 100%, but I don't stray far from it either. I just have to add some fruits for a medical condition that we are trying to treat without medications. Other than that, I'm doing Phase 2. I love it! |

Oh, and I loved my Curves workout today! I got up at 5 am to get going and get all the kiddos packed and to the sitters. Now I'm at work and not feeling too bad overall, just a little tired.
Have a great day. I'll check back later! |
