Welcome Hollie!!
I would comment on your menu, but there are those here who are far more experienced (Rose) that could make a more informed comment than I could. I wouldn't want to mislead you with bad info. Just know we are all here to support you and guide you along!! Good luck!!

This is week 2 Phase 1 for me. I've found this WOE much easier to follow than others. I've lost 7 lbs total (at least) from when I started last Monday. That is very encouraging to me and I will keep it up and refrain from the bad foods that lead to the carb-spiral of doom!!!

Here's my menu for today:

B: 3 eggs scrambled in EVOO spray
6 oz V8
12 oz Caffeine free Diet Coke

S: String cheese stick (1)
Large unsweet tea

L: Tuna salad (tuna, 1 spoon mayo, eggs, sf relish)
16 oz water

Dinner: probably grilled deer steak reheated. will be back at the ballpark tonight, so I'll have to fill up before I go out there to avoid temptation.

Hello everyone, I'm back from my weekend trip to the Eastern Shore, where I stayed on plan while enjoying some incredible fresh seafood. I celebrated my FIL's bday without eating any cake -- and my DH treated me to some beautiful new clothes and accessories at the outlets. It was particularly exciting to buy smaller sizes!

Today was my weigh-in and I'm down another lb. plus another 1/4 inch off my waist and 1/2 inch off my hips. Slow and steady is OK with me. I feel confident I'll keep it off this way.

Hollie and best of luck to you. If you follow the plan by the book, you'll do just great. Do you have the book? Have you read the stickys here? Your menu looks OK to me, except I would probably pull the yogurt out of breakfast and have it for a mid-morning snack instead. I would also try to do it with one packet of Splenda instead of two to cut down the sweetness (you're trying to reduce cravings in the beginning). Also, is the crab in your salad real crab or imitation? There's been some discussion about that and imitation can have too much filler in it.

Amy and Lee: Congrats on your weight loss! I'm so happy for both of you!

Meme: I'm glad the cravings are getting better. You WILL find the strength tonight to resist anything off plan. You can usually find something legal anywhere. Good luck and stay tough!

I hope everyone else is doing well. When I have some time, I'll go back and read the posts from the weekend. Have a great day and week ahead and let's JUST DO IT!

Hi everyone!

Rose, is that the gardens at Biltmore? It's beautiful.

Welcome Hollie. Your menu looks pretty good to me. Just check the calories on your fudgesicle. They shouldn't be more than 75.

Gram and Jillian, it looks like you are doing great! Keep it up!

Meme, I am glad you are doing better. Hang in there. You can do it.

I am doing a lot better today. TOM finally arrived and I am down 3 pounds this morning. So, I am just one pound above my lowest weight and I can deal with that. When TOM goes away I should definitely be down some more. I think I am going to go home and do my workout DVD instead of going to the gym today.

Have a great evening!

Hello, all! I've had a really busy day and work and am winding things up for the day. I had 6oz non fat yogurt/1 TBSP peanut butter for breakfast, a piece of string cheese for a snack, a piece of laughing cow cheese w/sugar snap peas for another snack. I was going to grill chicken with a work friend, but she's home sick today and before I knew it, the afternoon was almost over, yikes.

I *need* to make sure that I stop working long enough to really eat lunch tomorrow...

Torri: I just read some posts from the weekend and saw what you were going through. I know you got a lot of good advice and support from others, but I want to add my two cents because I feel for you and want to do whatever I can to help.

I always say that the key to weight loss is mental, not physical. It took me a long time to realize that. You have to make up your mind to do it or it won't work. But that said, I can tell you with 100% certainty that I would not have been able to get through my first weeks on SB in your office -- or most office -- settings without some major intervention. The key for me was cutting myself off from most of the outside world until I was well on my way and my cravings were gone. I'm lucky to be self-employed, so I do most of my work from home. When I met with clients, I never agreed to do it at mealtimes. I didn't have coworkers to tempt me with peer pressure. By the time I was faced with meetings with meals and conference rooms with goodies around me, I was strong enough to resist the bad stuff. So I can understand how hard it is for you, I really can. I worked in offices for years and had my share of junk food that helped push me to well over 200 lbs.

Now that you're starting again, what can you do differently? Can you bring coffee and legal snacks and completely avoid the breakroom? Can you stay away from coworkers when food is around? Can you firmly say NO THANKS when they're trying to push food on you? What kinds support can I/we give you to help? If you really want to do this, which I believe you do, we will help and make it as easy for you as possible. Just come here or to our challenge thread and YELL FOR HELP before you eat off plan.

We are all rooting for you!

Hey everybody!! Sounds like we're all busy this week!! I know I'm running around like crazy here at work. What is it about this time of year?!!

Anyway, my menu looks like this today:

B: 1 cup ff yogurt w/splash of raspberry davinci's (I'm out of eggs!! AAAHHH!!)
large unsweet ice tea
6 oz tomato juice

S: string cheese stick

L: salad of some kind

S: 15 almonds

D: ???? I have no idea what I'm going to make for dinner. Might feed the fam leftover pizza from last night and fix myself a grilled chicken salad.

I find myself eating a lot of salads lately. That's very ok with me. I feel like it's an easy and "Legal" thing to put together. Not that I'm worried about not being able to prepare other foods, but I know in the back of my mind that I can't usually go wrong with a salad. Yes, it's safe, but it's helped me.

Oh, and I'm down another pound today. Yeah me for resisting ballpark foods again last night!! Man, I sure wanted a tray of those cheesy nachos with peppers...those were smelling soooo good last night!!

Have a great day everyone!!

Good Morning! Hello All and Welcome Hollie!

I am doing well. I had a business dinner last night. I knew it was going to be buffet and I was pleasantly surprised that they had Salmon and roasted vegetables.Fresh fruit for desert. So I was a happy camper.

Have a great day.

Good morning everyone and welcome new Beachers!

Another busy day here, but I wanted to check in and see how everybody's doing. Congrats to all who are losing so well and to all of us who are plugging along!

Today's menu:
B: 1 HB egg, flax muffin (a delicious new variation: raspberry-pecan -- I'm becoming the flax muffin queen of Washington, DC!)
L: committee meeting at a restaurant, so probably a Greek steak salad
S: cucumber slices if hungry
D: chicken-veggie stir-fry
S: ricotta creme with SF almond syrup
and lots of water

I'll hit the gym around 6:00 after I'm finished with work. I can't believe April's half over already and I'm still waiting for my spring/summer body to emerge! I know, it's getting closer...

Have a great day everyone and keep up the good work!

It's me again with a question. If I get stuck in town and have to eat at a "burgerworld" how bad is it to get the cheese burger and not eat the bun? Is this appropriate for Phase One?
Thanks, Connie

Hi Connie, welcome! It is perfectly appropriate to get a cheeseburger and not eat the bun. Just don't use ketchup.

Nothing new to report here. I am doing well and sticking to the plan. Hoping a few new pounds will fall off this week. I am tired of losing and gaining and relosing the same two pounds .

Have a good day!

L: grilled chicken caesar salad
S: SBD rasin cinnomon bar

Hi, everyone!!

Have I mentioned yet that I love South Beach!!!

This is just the best eating plan ever. I am totally satisfied and feeling happy. At work, they are piling project after project on me, and I didn't even cry today. I know that sounds strange, but I work in a high pressure environment and the creatives (like me) often get emotional when we're under stress. I really feel that eating this way is allowing me to handle my life so much better.

Thank you universe for showing me the way to South Beach!!

Red, if they have a grilled chicken sandwich, go for that (without the bun) first (just because it's probably a leaner choice). If not....a bunless cheeseburger is okay, too.

Hey, for those of you on Phase 2, how many servings of starch/grains and how many servings of fruit are you eating a day? I'm going to do it by the book and add 1 starch/grain and 1 fruit per day when I enter Phase 2 on Saturday and then see how much weight I lose in two weeks. Maybe I will call it Phase2A.

How far are you into the plan and what have you added? Where did your loss slow, could you pin point it at a certain number of starch/grain/fruit servings a day?

Hi All! I had kind of a good day today. I wore the new jeans I just bought to work today. They're a little tight as I bouht them small so I'll be able to wear them as long as possible while I continue to lose weight. They actually didn't feel too bad. I did have a "muffin top" but I just wore a looser top and they looked fine. It felt so great getting into thoe smaller jeans I just had to share! Oh, and I lost a pound over the weekend too which is a miracle since I usually gain some over the weekend.
I hope you all had a good Monday too!
