Bike Riding

Does anyone ride a bike for exercise? If so, do you think it works well for you? I have bad ankles and have thought about getting a bike to ride on our trail areas around town. Any thoughts on bike riding? I thought I would combine it with water aerobics and walking a small amount on my treadmill. Thanks....

I love riding a bike! I ride to work and back when it is better weather and I definatly notice a difference in my body when I am riding and when I'm not. It is easy on my joints and easier to get into than say jogging (at least for me!) Last summer when I rode to and from work everyday (12 miles total) I was the same weight but 2 sizes smaller!

I know you are talking about a street bike, but I thought I'd put my 2 cents in about my stationary bike. I asked for one for my b-day last year, specifically a recumbant bike. I got a relatively inexpensive one from Sears and love it. It's easy on my back (which is an issue for me) and the seat is comfortable, not like some other non-recumbant bikes. Just a thought. Cindy

Riding a bike is so much fun!!! It doesn't really feel like exercise cause your not paying attention to moving the petals. I got addicted to it and had to go on a bike ride at least once a day, sometimes twice. I don't have a bike up here yet though, I just moved. I miss it!!

Boy I wish for just ONCE in my life I would get addicted to something besides food!!! I have a SIL who is addicted to jogging daily. She jogs 6 miles daily. She has done it for years. Who knows...maybe a bike will do the trick for me.
Cindy I would love a stationary bike for the cold winter. Maybe some day I will get one. Years ago I had one. The seat killed my back side. I remember using a pillow. I will check them out the next time I go to Sears. I wonder if they make a BIG, soft seat for us with well endowed behinds??? Thanks

Hi
I just wanted to say how much I love riding my bike. My four dalmatians run along side the bike and so we all get a good workout!!
I do about 3-5 miles three times a week!!
