Hi
I'm new to this...used to do Atkins and joined lowcarb friends(a few years ago)but have since switched to South Beach. I did great with the switch and was within 10 pounds of my goal...then came Christmas! Now I'm back up there again...but I do not own a scale so I'm not sure how far I went up...my guess is about 5 to 8 #s. Anyway...I've been trying to get back on track since before Christmas but couldn't make it 2 days...well, I'm on day 3 today! I thought this might help...the support and all. Hope everyone is doing well...I'm feeling a little relief now that I've gotten this far again! wish me luck for the next week and a half!

Good morning!
Welcome Cristen!

Vegasgirl: Let me know how PH2 goes. I'll be at the 2 week mark on Thursday, but I'm scared to change. I don't feel really deprived of anything, except all the stuff I shouldn't/can't eat anyway! I may stay on PH1 another couple of weeks. I will probably go back to work the end of the month and for lunch and breakfast convenience, I may change to PH2 then.

Scale this AM: 155# Yippee! Let's see if I can get that number or lower tomorrow! The scale keeps going up and down about a pound, UGH!

Good luck everyone! Have a great day!

Knock, Knock.....

Can I come back in - I've been MIA since before the holidays. I have been under a lot of stress lately & did go off the beach for the week between Christmas & New Year, but now I am back on track. I'm just trying to push myself to start working out again.

I hope everyone had a happy holiday & wishing you all a happy and healthy 2007!

I'm going to stay on phase 1 until I lose at least 10 pounds. Hubby and I are still cheat free and lovin it! He has lost 9 pounds so far! I'm still at 5, but at least I'm not yo-yoing.

Any ideas for a crunchy type snack that would be similar to potatoe chips or popcorn for DH? He is becoming more aware of food labels and put the rice cakes back on the shelf after reading the carb content, but is searching for a crunchy snack--besides veggies!

Breezy, if your DH is on phase two he can have popcorn. Not sure how much is considered a serving though.
I'm back on the beach today. Got a very good workout this morning with my personal trainer. I'm already sore. I'm not sure I can do a full hour on the eleptical and this workout. I was able to barter a massage for my training session, I thinks thats cool.
Today I've had or going to have:
B: egg and canadian bacon
L: grilled chicken, squash, a little cheese and charro beans
S: nonfat, sugar free hazelnut late ( a milk serving)
D: hamburger patty, lettuce, low carb bbq sauce
S: sugar free pudding maybe be

We have a huge basket of cookies and candy that were given to us in Canada. I've got to find a hiding place for it.
I bought 4 pair of Danskin exercise long pants to take with on a trip to Bolivia next month. Needed something light colored and light weight. I got to buy the 8/10 size, the 12 were going to be too big once I started wearing them. I also had to buy light weight cotton shirts and got to buy the size 8/10's once again. This is so exciting. My original, not spoken aloud, goal was a size 10. I still have 14 pds left to go, I think I'll really end up a 10 for real. I know I shouldn't focus on the size, but the clothes I'm wearing now are half the size that I was wearing 3.5 years ago. I'm rambling....
Hope everyone has a great week.

Great Job, Horseyplay!! I LOVE nuts too and wonder if I am eating too many. It's such a convenient, healthy snack. I prefer almonds, but will eat any kind of nut and even like to put soy nuts in my salad.

We are still on phase 1 of the diet--tomorrow is one week for us, so we have at least 1 more week on phase 1 and I think I will stay on it longer-- ill I am down by 10#'s.

I did an experiment when I got home this evening. The temperature outside has been so warm lately and it is windy today and dropping drastically, so I was wanting a cup of French Vanilla Decaff coffee and I had this, well what I thought was a wonderful idea, to add a scoop of whey protein powder to my coffee instead of creamer---WRONG! It was so disguisting I couldn't stand it. The protein powder clumped, so I put it in the blender. It seemed real frothy and I drank some, but the longer I took to drink it, more clumps appeared and finally, I just dumped it out.

I found that I ate too many nuts, no matter how hard I tried to ration them. I don't buy them anymore.

Hello Everyone! Im back! For those who don't remember me, I had completed phase 1 and I recently had a myomectomy. This is my 2nd week of recovery...4 more weeks to go. But, I wanted to report that I am still 10lb loser. Actually, I haven't weighed myself today but the last I checked, I was still under. I have to admit that I did cheat a little but, I promise to have more discipline! How is everyone else doing?

Yes, air popped popcorn is good for phase 2. Up to 3 c. Cheese crisps are good. Take thin slices of cheese and bake til melted and crunchy. Of course, you can't have very many, but it does make a chip like snack. If you can get a Dana Carpender cookbook, she has recipes for crackers that are really yummy. Try the library.

We had to get nuts out of the house completely for a long time. Recently, I have begun to buy almonds, but as soon as I get home, I repack them into 1 oz. snack bags and put them in a drawer. We keep chopped walnuts to mix with yogurt and fruit. We still can't have peanuts around.

Morning, Ladies. Jeannie and Nana, great menus, absolutely first rate. One little teeny, tiny nitpick for Jeannie, if it's ok? Trade iceberg for romaine or green leaf, etc or just add some into your salad. There's way more nutrition in darker greens, iceberg has very little nutrition, but lovely crunch. I'm a big believer in packing the most vitamins and minerals possible into every meal. And where did you find roasted onion Boca Burgers? Sounds delicious.

Just a quick hello. I hope everyone is doing well. I have completed a week on my Phase 1.5 or whatever you want to call it. I cheated a little over the weekend but wasn't too bad. I am down 5 pounds. TOM starts today so I am hoping to see a few more pounds drop of in the next few days. I've been doing great working out. I worked out 6 days in a row, but yesterday my body was pretty fatigued so I took the day off. I'll be back in the gym today.

Rose~ THANK YOU! nitpicking is ok. I try to use whatever lettuce I get on sale, it happened to be iceberg this week.

I found the roasted onion Boca burgers at Acme. They also had a roasted garlic that sounds good, but I figured Id try the onion first. VERY Yummy!!! Im looking for the Boca ground hamburger. I like to use a lot of ground meat (turkey, venison, sirloin) so I figured the Boca version would be a good alternative.

Hi everyone! Consistantly down 6# (scale was up/down a couple of days)!
I got the ok from MD to walk 1-2 miles and do lite hand weights, so I've worked up to just over one mile until my back starts bothering me. Not much, but it's a start! Can I or should I do weights daily or every other? I know usually, when just doing upper body, it's suggested to do every other but I'm only doing about 4-5 exercises, upper body, using 3-5#.

Went to the movies this afternoon with my mom. Man, did the popcorn smell good! Thank goodness my mom didn't get any. I hadn't eaten before the movie but grabbed some turkey pepperoni and a boiled egg to eat during, so I made it through without caving!

Hope everyone is doing well!

Cindy, the PT's in this area have people working with that range of weights every day. That's not heavy, so it should be fine. WIth heavy weights of course you should rotate days. It's great that you can get moving again.

Hi Everyone!

Today was a good day, I managed to stay on plan even though they had a catered lunch at work, they've been doing that for the last few weeks because of all the year end craziness.

Todays menu:

B-1 slice whole gran flax toast, 2 sunnyside up eggs
S-mixed fruit from the cafeteria at work
L-homemade black bean soup (Rachel Ray's recipe) & brown rice, tossed salad with lite ranch & roasted vegies.
D-2 salmon burgers & tossed salad.

Hi all,

I'm still doing well with not eating bad, but have gotten to the no appetite thing again. I remember this from a few months ago but do not remember feeling this way with Atkins! The problem is that I can't even force myself to eat when I feel this way, and if I manage to force myself, it's maybe a piece of lunchmeat...and SF popsicle or other SF goodie! I do know what I'm a junkfood junkie and when given healthy options, I choose to eat that as my meal during this stage. Any thoughts...besides not eating the SF popsicles? That's kind of where I'm at...my theory is that I might break that addiction to junk if I don't eat it. Also...the food choices do not excite me and I'm incredibly picky so I won't eat many of the options allowed, like fish, riccota cheese...or any cheese for that matter, nuts of any kind(can't stand the texture)...so my options during phase 1 are limited (by my pickyness) so I'm easily bored. I did lose 12 pounds during phase 1 in October, so I'll see how it goes this time. I'm on day 5.

Good morning all. I didn't do to well yesterday. I had an appointment at 10:00 to get all my shots for my trip next month. I was there 1.5 hours and had to be the hosptial to work at noon. I just grabbed Chick fillet to eat on he run, chicken and fries. I normally would get their chicken patty and side salad.
On an upside note. Yesterday while I was working at the information desk and man strolled by with his wife leaving the hospital I had already talked to them on the way in, they wanted to know how to get to the patient floors. I was munching on a multigrain pretzel. I said by to them buy and he said, "your going to get fat eating those". I told him "it's multigrain". He laughed and walked out the doors. When I thought about it, I realized, he must not see me as "fat". I still see myself as being fat although everyone tells me not to lose anymore weight. I got kinda tickled over the whole thing.
I'm going to head over to the gym shortly, I'm so sore from the new workout on Monday, I'm not sure how much to do today.
Menu for today:
B: one slice multigrain bread, one egg, one piece Canadian bacon and a little 2%fat cheese.
L: tuna salad on a slice of bread probably
S: strawberry yogurt
D: chicken and salad
S: sugar free butterscotch pudding with a dab of whipped cream
water, water, water.
Have a great day ya'll
