New to SB, old to the BBs!

Hello! I have done Atkins in the past and used to spend a LOT of time on these BBs, but am trying SB this time and I'm very excited about it. I have been on it since Friday and doing great. I've already lost 4 pounds! Anyway, I have been a bit confused. I do have the book, I've been reading it, but it can be confusing. Its the older version (I didn't know there was a newer one) and I guess I missed the part about low or no fat cheeses, but now know better... so I'll have to go back to the store I guess. In one part of the book I think it mentions walnuts, but on the list of what to eat walnuts aren't on it. Confusing! I have read the new updated list however... but it stinks because its not in my book.

The things I love about it so far is that I dont have to give up my 1% milk! I have to cut back, but I LOVE my milk! I also love that I can eat cashews. I've given up the regular Cokes and I'm drinking water again and I'm already feeling better. I also like that I can eat a SF fudge pop now and then.

I am starting to listen to my body - eat when I'm hungry.. not just "because its there" I feel like I'm going to be very successful on this WOE.

Its lucky 2007 - good things are going to happen this year!

Is there a thread where people post their menus? I need some examples for the 1st phase especially.

Diane. Your book is good. The new one is the Heart Health book. Basic same, but speaks specifically to heart problems. The stickies at the top of the page will give you the food lists and menu plans if you need a quick reference. There is a weekly checkin thread where we post menus, etc. Meet us there each day.

Thanks! I found a link to a thread like that, but I think it was an old thread. I'll look for the new one... I'm sure it will be a great help to see how others are eating. Do peple specify what phase they are on when they post their menu?

BTW, I had lost 35 pounds on Atkins years ago (but I started at 205 and got down to 170 and a size 10! (I'm 5,8")) I'm well above that now, but I think this WOE will be much better for me. I just have to change some of my old Atkins ways of thinking... and get lower fat cheese.

What about sour cream? I haven't seen anything about it on the do or dont list.

Welcome...SB is a great plan, after phase I, it is such normal healthy eating, phase I get's you prepared for that...good luck. I too did Atkins a while back, Had some success...I just could not stick to it, or keep the weight off, I love fruit and some WG everyday. SB teaches you to eat that way without gaining weight, Trick is...small portions, I used to eat big bowls of oatmeal, SB has taught me a serving is about 1/2 C. HUGE difference. Training our bodies to eat regular portions, instead of super-sized ones...which are everywhere, has helped me so much. I have lost 50 lbs following SB. Getting to my goal weight THIS YEAR!
