Do YOU count carbs on South Beach?
Good afternoon!
I'm trying to feel encouraged that I've stayed away from refined carbs, but since I've been keeping track in Fitday, I wonder if I'm eatting too many carbs, from veggies and SF pudding (only one per day)and such....Even though SB doesn't advocate counting carbs, do you? If so, about what number do you try to stay under or around? I guess I'm concerned that I've only lost 3# since 12/28. I drink lots of water (48oz or so plus diet CF soda, decaf.tea & coffee) and since surgery, I am only able/can take short strolls X 15-20min. Here's what I've eaten today.... B: 1/2c egg beaters w/ 2 Bob Evans lite sausage links, coffee w/2t creamer (trying to cut back on the flavored creamers)/2t half & half , Splenda S: V8 5.5oz can, 1oz ham L: 2oz steak, 2oz aparagus, romaine lettuce with 1t Balsamic dressing S: celery and 1T hummus So far, 32 oz. H2O + Diet Rite Any suggestions, input? Thanks! Cindy |

While we don't count carbs, we are aware of them. If you follow the acceptable food lists and eat normal portion sizes, you should be fine.

Your eating looks good and looks like a typical SB day. I would not worry about the counting...as Rose said, just follow the allowed food lists and watch portions, you will lose! SB is not a quick-loss method, but it is steady if you do it clean...it's a healthy lifestyle change with long-term permanent weight loss. It works! I have lost 50 lbs. since starting...almost to my goal, this is my year!! You too...
I will add, that if I get off plan, I start to gain, but isn't that true of any plan you do, when I go back to all the carbs and sweets, I gain again, when I stay on SB, I maintain and keep losing. Do you have the SB book? It helps to look at the daily menus and portion sizes.

I think that your menu looks good as well! I don't count carbs personally either because the carbs you should be eating according to the plan should all be okay for you (i.e. beans, etc.)
