A lot. My ultimate goal is 200 but if I can lose 25 or 50 to start I would be happy.

Good Morning everyone, Why am I waiting till Jan. 1st???????? That is just the dead line I set for myself to get my head all the way back on straight. I am working on it each day. You see this is the first Christmas in 4 years that I have been off plan and gained weight. At one point I had lost 96 lbs. About 6 mos. ago hubby and I got off plan due to some major life stress. I am making no excuses. Eating was just our way of comfort to handle some major issues that hit all at once. Some people chooses drugs, drinking, smoking, sex, work, etc. we both turn to food. Now after gaining a bunch of weight we are settling into the fact that we have done some major damage here and need to get off the sugar. I had just started SB before the holidays and I guess I just wasn't ready to give the sugar up. Too many parties and food. We both gave in to it. I find it strange how one can go for years without sugar and think you have it all under control....then BANG!! Some major life stuff happens and you find that you are not as in control as you thought. All I know to do is "just keep on keeping on" and get my mind filled with good info and thoughts and get my kitchen cleaned back out and start all over again. Jan. 1st is just my date to have all these things back into place as close as I can. Today I am re reading my SB book to help with my mind set.

Hello Everyone!

I am also jumping back on the wagon on Jan. 1st. I was a poster on this board last summer and lost about 15 pounds when I was on the diet. I would like to get those 15 pounds back off so that I can fit into all of my clothes again. I am looking forward to feeling better about my eating!! Time to clean out the fridge for me as well!!

Ok,i hope i dont sound rude here but I think you are a tad out of line. I personally am waiting for jan to "kick it off". People get excited and ready for a particular date to start on. Sure, one can start any day but if you big a start date, prep yourself mentally, get a eating plan in place, it seems to work out well. I noticed you have not been on plan at all. I see you have been sick, but even without that you have not been on plan,so why ask others when they dont start when you cannot even start? Again, no offense, but I think it was out of line of you to make that comment. All people have their reasoning for starting on a particular date. Weight loss is a mental game, maybe ppl want to psych themselves up,as i do. Just my two cents though...

I am also starting on 1/1/07. I had terrific results a few years back but unfortuately fell off the wagon.

I have gotten back that determination that helped me to be so successful last time.

I am starting back Jan 2 as well. I dont really think that basketballhotty is meaning anything she is saying in a mean way. ALot of times people say on here why wait til tomorrow start with the NEXT meal. That is all that she is saying...probably just how she feels in her mindset and thought that it would be encouraging...to say dont wait til tomorrow start now. Because a lot of times people say i will start this date or tomorrow and until then they eat whatever they want...only to have to lose that weight. But if you start with the next meal then you are just much farther ahead then waiting til tomorrow or a certain date. I honestly think she was just trying to be supportive.

But everyone knows what will work for them and if its in your mind to start with the next meal, tomorrow, or Jan 1,2, 7 or etc...BEST OF LUCK to each and everyone of you!!

bizzybee, I agree there's something exciting about "starting over" on the first of the year. It's really a spiritual/emotional thing with me - new beginnings, plans, etc. It's washing the slate clean and saying "thank you God for letting me start over, and give me the strength to use MY strength to commit."

I've been on so many different low carb/low glycemic diets this year, my head's spinning. A relative of mine lost a a tremendous amount of weight, painlessly on SB. I might add she's an emotional eater and has incredible problems, yet still, she did the plan and lost weight. The other baggage just didn't get in the way. I figure if she can do it, I can do it. Plus every doctor under the sun recommends SB over anything else, I've experienced.

I have the new South Beach Heart Program book and it is excellent as well.

Here's to all of us to the New Year! My glass will be raised to you all!

Hi! New to the site and back on SB as of 12/28/06. I've really tipped the scale after suffering back pain and a subsequent back surgery. I'd like to lose 20-25#. So far, so good. My mother-in-law is in town and has been helpful with keeping me on track, the first days are always the hardest! Looking for a buddy or group to help with accountability. I'm still recoverying, surgery was 12/15/06, and can't exercise other than short walks.
Thanks! Happy New Year!
Cindy

back to the beach, Cindy

This is the place for accountability and buddies. We have a weekly check in thread for posting menus, sharing successes and whining if we need to. ( ) Hopefully, we will gain new members in the next few days. I think those who post often, do better. We feed off of the success of others. Hope to see you often in the weeks to come.

Thanks, rose1. Wondering if there is a place on this site to keep a journal, including weight and food or are do you just post progress for all to see? If so, where, on what thread? Sorry, new to all this...thanks for the help. What is "SNARK"?

Cindy, there is a journal board here--http://www.lowcarbfriends.com/bbs/showthread.php?t=376118. Generally, most people post menus on the check in thread for accountablility and help if needed. We don't critique menus (generally) unless someone asks for input.

DD (Emily) and I (Barbara) post together with this user name; apparently we can't make two user names. It gets confusing, but I don't know what to do about it. Sometimes I will be here and sometimes it will be her.

SNARKS is a challenge group on the playground. She is the SNARK. Check it out when you get access to the playground; it's a fun group.

Maybe because noone wants to feel like a complete faliure during the holidays. The deprivation will make you eat more in the long run trust me low carb for 4 years lost 130 lbs and its a life plan now not a diet.
