Stats: Lost 112, working on 49 lb re-gain.
WOE: Plant Based Whole Foods
Quit Smoking and Gained 5 lbs in 2 weeks

So here I am re-starting AGAIN. I guess it's not too crazy to start 3 days before Christmas????

We are having (I already bought the food)
lemon pepper chicken
green bean casserole
peas for hubby
stuffing
potatoes
gravy
pudding and whipped cream

I guess I'll stick to the chicken and green bean casserole, and have a little plain sweet potato which is healthier than stuffing and potatoes. I could have warm pumpkin and butter w/ splenda and walnuts for dessert.

Funny that pumpkin is an induction veggie on Atkins, but a starchy veggie on SB. Go figure....

Congratulations on quittins smoking! Excellent! I quit 2 1/2 years ago and it's the best thing I ever did! I did gain 10 pounds that I can't quite seem to budge, no matter which plan I have tried. But...age is a factor for me too. I think starting phase I right before Christmas might be challenging, along with quitting smoking, but good for you! Go for it!

Hi! I've been lurking on the site all day. I have owned the SB book for several years, but after tipping the scales, I really need to get serious about weight loss! Started on the program 12/28/06...
Anyway....
Congratulations on quitting smoking! It's the single best thing you can do for your over all health! I remember reading something from the American Lung Association or American Lung Association saying that you had to gain 75# for weight to do the health damage that smoking does!

Hate to tell u this, but Doctor told me 10 pounds was going to happen even watching my food intake. Your body is now in shock and needs to adjust to being a non-smoker. Just don't sweat it and GOOD FOR YOU!! It will be 6 years for me in March and it was the first time I stopped smoking and I smoked 2 packs a day!

Keep up the good work, and don't worry, the weight will come off.

I have been on the boards alot, lurking mostly and have read many of your posts. You are an inspiration to all of us. Congratulations on quitting smoking, I know how hard it is because I quit 2 years ago in November Thanksgiving week-end. I also gained weight, about 10-12 pounds and I am still trying to get it off. My own fault since I need to really get serious.

I wanted to ask you if you find SB a better plan for you. In my experience I do well on Atkins for a week or two then the weight loss stops.I aso find if I am really low carb I don't drop the weight like others do. This seems to be the pattern, I do good for two weeks , 7-10 pounds then it stops.. I get frustrated and give up. Then find if I add carbs my weight loss stabilizes, I don't loose but I don't gain, almost as if I need carbs to lose weight.
I am seriously thinking of SB, any suggestions? Again Congratulations!

G2G....check out the SB threads. You can get more info about SB there.
I'm afraid that this thread has stalled. You can post your questions about stalling on an Adkins thread or SB. Don't give up. We all have up and down weight days. You have to look at both programs and figure out what you can do FOR LIFE. I chose SB...looked healthier though the initial weight loss may not be as fast as Adkins, though I've lost 9# since 12/28....on plan, no cheating!
Hope this note finds you and helps!
Good Luck!
Cindy
