Bacon
Whats the rule on regular Bacon in Phase 1 Can I have it with my eggs in the morning? How much can I have?
And what about salad dressing Im not a big fan of oil and Vinnager on my salad what else can I use? Also can we have coffee mate? The label says 0 sugar but the first ingredient is fructose could some one help straighten me out? Thanks all! ![]() Last edited by Rian : 12-01-2006 at 10:04 AM. |

We can't have regular bacon on SB but we can have turkey bacon. (and canadian bacon but I don't really think of that as 'bacon') I find turkey bacon to have a wierd after taste if I eat them by themselves but if you crush them up and sprinkle on things like eggs or fauxatoes they are good. As far as salad dressing there are some guidelines on which ones you can have. I use some good ceasar dressing from costco that is low in fat, etc. You can also make your own dressing, there are a billion recipes. And if the coffeemate has fructose in it I'd say it probably isn't too good. It's wierd that is says no sugar....probably cause a serving size is so small. Got to watch out for that stuff, that is why it is good to read ingrediants and not just look at the nutrition label...they are always trying to trick us. Hope this helped!

I have been using 40% less fat bacon from Goalty. It tastes more like real bacon and has less fat than some of the turkey bacon.

I am using the Louis Rich Turkey Bacon. It is wonderful. I will never go back to full fat, artery clogging bacon again. I've also tried the Morningstar Farms vegetarian breakfast strips. They are good too.

I enjoy turkey bacon, but it does taste different than regular bacon. For salad dressing, I have found some good balsamic vinaigrettes out there, but my all time favorite is ranch from Litehouse. They have a great light ranch that tastes real that I use. Moderation is key!

We had never tried any type of turkey bacon before and while I was preparing to start the SBD, I went to Walmart and selected the cheapest brand they had. It happened to be Butterball and it is GREAT! Even my 15 year old son absolutely loves it. I prefer it to regular bacon and will never go back to it either.
I've been using Ceasar dressing on all my salads. I do absolutely love Raspberry Vinegrette, but about fainted when I saw the number of carbs in it! |
