I'm good with how yesterday went. I had planned on green beans, turkey and a baked sweet potato, but we got caught up at church and didn't get around to making the green beans or sweet potato. Temptations are going to be around me all the time, thats never going to change. I have to be able to take what I need from what is offered and I'm not going to beat my self up over it. That said, yesterday I had some turkey, less than a half cup of mashed potatoes with gravy, candied sweet potatoes (home made, not canned) about 1/4 of a large one, and fruit salad and a homemade dinner roll. My portions were a lot smaller than in the past years. I didn't want to eat a lot and feel stuffed so I ate what I put on my plate the first time and that was it. (I was feeling very full anyways.) Later on I had a piece of homemade apricot pie. It is my favorite pie and a family recipie. I did very well, I didn't have any problems with going after more, or feeling sick. I didn't feel deprived. It was just one meal. I still had the same amount of calories I eat in a day normally. I think I did good. I figure I'm going to be able to make "good" choices 90% of time and less better choices the rest of the time. I'm trying to be realistic. I know that Christmas is going to be a lot tougher, I have no control over the menu, and that side of the family doesn't understand my diet needs. I'm just going to stay focused and work out whenever I can, and not beat myself up. We all have to find what works best for us, right?

Thanks guys!
I appreciate the replies. Thanks Rose...Good job Joli on having a good day, I think it's great that you can eat a little of the "yummy" stuff and not want more...I struggle with that, so I just stayed away...I am to "green" off sugar yet to risk a blow-out!!(hehehe) Hope you all have a great holiday season, so glad we have a place for support!Lysa ![]() |
