Thanksgiving

Hello all!

I want to say, I am a newbie here for a couple of days, although I have been reading for some time...I want to cmpliment you all on this forum, you are all so sweet and caring, I decided to start phase again today and I am gonna make it this time!! I lost 35 lbs. over ayear ago and I am back to loose 35+ more! I have accepted that I have to develop this as a way of life...my body does not do well when I go back to "regular" eating. I am trying to gear up for thanksgiving, so I don't blow it!! I won't be done w/ phase for 2 weeks, so I bought the holidays SBD cookbook to plan ahead and since we are having it at my house, i will make some SBD friendly things for me. Have any of you tried like the pumpkin pie?? I gotta have my pie!!
Pleasae tell me what you all do to get through the holidays, this is the hardest time of year for me, as it must be for alot of you...what do you "seasoned" SBeachers do so you stay on plan and still enjoy holiday traets/meals?? Thanks you so much. I really wanna make it this time to my goal, I gotta, my health needs it!!

WOE: Atkins
Start Date: 8-2-08
Hi mlmagic, I am new here also. I'm interested in the tips also. I do have plans for hubby and I. We are going to my son's so I will make sure I take plenty of "goodies" for us. I plan on fixing a friendly phase 1 cheese cake. I also plan on taking some of the bean bread/cake. I will make the cinnamon flavored one. I took it to work last week and had people taste it. One lady said it tasted like banana bread. One said it had the texture of pumpkin bread. Everyone liked it. I also plan on taking a veggie tray with veggies and cheeses. I do wish pumpkin was on phase 1.....but I will make do with the cheesecake. If you do plan on eating pumpkin just use the recipe on the back of the Libby can. Replace the sugar with Splenda. It is yummy! I have baked it without a crust and with a nut crust before, back in my Atkins days.

Thanks so much Nana...
I bought the holiday SBD cookbook, it is FABULOUS!! I highly recommend getting it, the recipes are so beautiful, healthy and yummy, it also tells you which recipe is which phase, so I am picking some from the book to make for me/family. I feel good about it now, the relatives are bringing a pie, so I will make the SB one for me and be fine, I am making cauliflower mash for me to replace the potatoes and other things that are phase 1/sorta 2 friendly. I feel if I am prepared with my own food, I won't blow it!!

I'm pretty sure I can get through Thanksgiving on plan (mostly), I'll be at home. Christmas, the week before and the week after will be my challenge. I will be at my in-laws and at their mercy....It is almost impossible to be good the whole time, no matter how hard I try.

I hear ya joli...that is MY biggest downfall, if I don't see it, or have it in my house, I do pretty good, but when I am around other's and out of my "element" I always seem to cave...I am trying a different mind-set this year, cause my past best thinkin's got me right where I am! So...We too will be at relatives for 2 weeks at XMAS and beyond, parties, etc. I am going to make something for me when I get there that I can enjoy and stay on plan! If I have something that's legal. I do sooo much better, than I won't feel like I want to "tilt the table" But maybe have just a bite...
I figure it's only food and other things I CAN eat will taste good too. I have got to learn, this WOE is my life now, or I will just gain it all back and quit losing. To the goal I say!! Self talk, self talk, self talk...
Happy holiday's!
