Good morning and here's to another great week on the beach. Thanks Rose1 for getting us up and going once again. You are sure doing a wonderful job keeping our thread alive and well.

This weight losing stuff sure can be stressful sometimes. I know as I'm dealing with a half pound up and down dance that is really bugging me. I just hate when this happens as I want to see the scale move downward. Even just a fraction would be a great thing right now! I must need a patience lesson. That's what it is.

I'm making this day and the week a perfect one and just let the ole body do it's thing. Have a great week everyone!

It is another beautiful day here. Hot, but beautiful. I got over to the gym today and got in a good work out. Felt better during today's work out. Less dizziness. I decided to try eating right when I get up in the morning. Take my walk about an hour later, then go to the gym. I never used to eat until after my workouts. I also discovered that my systolic blood pressure is down to 100. It is usually around 130. The dyastolic is running about 70, it used to be about 80. Not sure what to make of that. I'm thinking that might be what the dizziness is about. My b/p has not been that low in over 20 years.
Today I'm planning on the following:
B: egg, canadian bacon, 2% cheese and a pita
S: few garlic cashews
L: SBD deli ham and turkey wraps. (way too much sodium)
S: Blue Bunny 85 black cherry yogurt
D: meat loaf, sweet potato, salad
S: sugar free pudding if still hungry
Hope everyone is off to a great start this week.

It's a very windy day here in Austin. I'm looking out the window and thinking my ears will never survive a 4 mile walk this morning. I guess I'm going to have to walk at the gym-boring!
Yesterday I decided to take the day off and do what I wanted. I picked up a book for my book club and went to lunch. Deciding what I wanted to eat was a challenge. I basically was in the mood to eat some comfort food. But! I stuck with my usual Tuesday lunch of grilled chicken caesar salad and a slice of multigrain bread. O.K so far. As I drove down to pick up my son's perscription I was think what can I have now? I went to see the movie Bable. I had a small popcorn and diet coke (I usually would of had a medium popcorn). The movie was good. I then went shopping for an hour. I was getting a headache and felt like I needed to eat something. Again I was wanting some kind of comfort food. I decided to go home and have a yogurt.
Which I did. Mom made a "legal" dinner so I did O.K yesterday despite the feelings that I wanted other things. I'm so glad I made it through it. I was down .5 pd today.
Today my eating plan is:
B: egg, canadian bacon, 2%cheese, and a pita
L: chicken with green sauce, a little cheese and charro beans
S: yogurt
D: Proabably SBD pizza or something as I am making spagetti and meatballs for the family.
Today is my workout day so my calories should be higher today.
Have a great day everyone!

Rose: Good on staying awai from the pumpkin pie..remember " pies are EVIL"
Jolie: Good job!!!!. It is hard to stay away form confort food when you need comforting, I am still trying to find the replacement for it...it should be excercise but i still have to live to see that happening with me.

I am very dissapointed and upset. yesterday am the scale read 286 and today it is reading 292...I am not sure why... the only " I should not have had that" item that i had was the sour cream in my mint and pea salad was not low fat it was just regular sour cream, everything else was legal....I need to do something about the scale. I know i sould not get paranoid about it but it is the onpy thing that tells me that I am in the right track...I know after a few more lb people will start telling me somehting but as of now nobody is not even noticing my loss.
YOu could tell me that what matters is how I feel and let me tell you that i do feel better in general but i still need the scale to give me a little pat in the back and tell me I am doing good.

B-3 slices of turkey, 2 slices of low fat cheddar cheese
s- 15 smoked almonds
L- lettuce, 1/2 avocado, sm steak,SB balsamic dressing, sugar free jello
S-yoghurt ( i will also add something else if i go to the gym...probably some cheese)
d-green beans, broccoli and pork chops or fish ( I forgot what i took down from freezer).

I will talk to you girls later

hi everyone, well i blew it, but am back at it. the 13th was my birthday, and i was doing well on my diet. but i ended up with a vet emergency, and had to take my newly adopted dog to the emergency hosp. i have had him 2 months. he began suddenly to have a bad seizure, and so he had to be taken in asap. i wont even tell you the cost, but he came home yesterday afternoon, and is ok. they think he has epilepsy, but some labs will be back in a few days. he is only 2-3 yrs old. so iw as a mess, and just grabbed some dinner and came home and had some wine. not much of a birthday and a flop as a diet day, but i am back on it today, and really trying. i know it will always be like that. i may break the diet, but the success to losing or keeping it off will be to immediately get back on the regimen. when i eat the s.b. way it makes me feel so much better, and my blood sugar no longer spikes. i also have more energy. the diet, plus some supplements i am taking help with depression also.

anyway, congrats to all for your successes. reading how well you have been doing is encouraging to me. i appreciate you all !! hugsssss

Edin, sorry about your dog, I hope he does well.
La Gordita (is there another name we could call you?). The scale is a wicked, evil tool. But I too, just have to step on it on a daily basis and it can run my whole day if I let it. I just keep expecting it to show a decrease a lot more regularly. I try not to let it get to me, but I don't nomally show an increase unless I have several days of bad eating. Tell your self, the weight showing on a daily basis is not going to be your weight at the end of the week. Be positive. If you have to and can, don't weigh your self daily. (I know this is very hard, it can be addictive).
Also, watch your sodium intake, you may be sensitive to large amounts. Deli turkey, cheese and smoked almonds all have lots of salt I believe.
Lastly, drink all your water! Very important.

Hello, ladies,
May I join you?

The thread on the Main Lobby about how much did I weight last year made me think as last year I’d weighted about 10 pounds less and I was on SOUTH BEACH! However after Christmas holidays I gained some pounds and decided to give in M&E, Kimmer experiment and all the possible fasts (so the merry-go-round started: losing/gaining) – well the result is that I am fatter than a year ago ... so I’m doing South Beach again – all phases and hopefully for good...

Hi Greta! Welocme to the beach! We'd love to have you join us here at check-in.

The scale is haunting me as well Digor! I get so tired of the same ole song and dance! It goes up a few oz then back down a few oz. This can go on for more than a week. I just have to remember that I'm now losing in a fat area that has been hangin around for a loooooong time. The closer I get to goal weight the slower this is going to get. I just make sure to stay true to the program and enjoy the little things in life that I wasn't able to before I started eating this way.

Here is my accountablility for today:

B- the same everyday just cause it's my favorite. lol
L- large salad with avocado, tomato, cucumber, shredded carrots and chick peas. evoo/vinegar and leftover cauliflower and broccoli from the night before
S- string cheese and apple
D- porkchop, rest of lunch salad and eggplant

Ok there ya have it. Also drinking plenty of liquids and staying up and moving. Have a nice rest of your day everyone.

I hope everyone is having a beachy day.
I am 3 lb down form yesterday and still have not hit the gym yet. There is a lot going on in my house with the relocation and a lot of paper work to get ready. yetedar I spent 2 hours in front of the copier making copies of documents that i need to send my atty.
Anyway...the plan for today is:
B I had a whole cup of fat free plain yoghurt ( am I supposed ot eat that) with splenda and a stpoon of cocoa ( mmmhhhh yummy).
S almonds
L pork chop ( heavelny broiled with garlic and dijon mustard), broccoli and green beans
S I am not sure yet..probably I would do celery and cream cheese
D lettuce, avocado and fish.
I am going to cut down in my sodium intake as suggested here.

How is the dog doing?
Where is Rose?
You can call me Haydee or Digor, Haydee is my real name but everyone calls me Digor.

I want to propose a discussion topic for the rest of the week:
How do you deal with cravings? what do you do when it gets out of control?

Good Morning....speaking of the scales we don't have any in our house any longer. When I was on Atkins I got where I was on them every day...if not more! My mood was according to what the scale said. I know what I weighed when I started SB, so in a couple of weeks I will stop by and weigh on some scales at a friends. The scales weigh with my Dr's.
Here is my menu for the day:
B - 2 eggs, bean muffin, FF yogurt
S - Cheese stick
L - Salad with chicken, jello with cottage cheese
S - Slice of Bean orange cake
D - Chicken, green beans, fake mashed potatoes.
Dessert - Chocolate yogurt

Hi everyone- Hope everyone is well. I haven't been on the scale since Last week I am too chicken to check! LOL- How do I deal with cravings well it all depends. For me I ususally have all the crappy food out so I have to use what I have so its legal stuff. When I am out on the town usually DH will help but lately its been a downward spiral. I just need to get myself out of it. So today I have been throwing things out that I know I shouldn't eat. I also bought some SF popscicles and Fudgecicles. Ofcourse DH has Ben and jerrys right next to it! Err. The only thing that I am doing that is pretty good is working out. It balances my eating out. I really hope that I am not gaining. I guess I should break down and weigh myself tomorrow. Maybe Next week so I don't get so down on myself.

Well Hope everyone is doing well.

THis time around ( since I started South Beach) I am not finding myself having to deal with cravings...but... I get very hungry between my afternoon snack and my dinner, it feels like i need an extra snack there so I eat but I only eat what I am supposed to...So far I haven't had the need to sweets or nothing like that which it scares me before i did not get to 300 lb by eating legal stuff i got this way but eating everything I was not supposed to so it feels weird now to have lost all the desire for that kind of food. I have a Dr.'s appointment next month and I will tell her about this change in attitude towards food becasue it really concerns me.
Deanna: good on the owrking out, I hate working out i think i have delepoded a gym allegry jejeje.
I know sooner or later i will have to overcome it

We're here. Life is hectic. We have satellite internet, so when it's rainy, stormy, cloudy, windy, we can lose the signal for a while. Makes communication hard sometimes.

Funny, we were talking about "cravings" just yesterday. We see so many posts about cravings. We were wondering what a person's definition of "cravings" is. Is it what I call the "munchies"? You want a little snack. Or do you think you have an actual physical need for a certain food? Or do you find yourself presented with an opportunity to "cheat" and can't hold out? You didn't go seek something out, but there it is, sitting on someone's desk and you can't pass it up. Or is it just the "urge" to eat what you have always eaten? Everyone chime in--what's a craving? And how DO you deal with it?
