Diabetes and SB

Was wondering
are any of you managing type II via diet (SB) and exercise w/o meds?

I'm wondering if the higher carb level (vs Atkins) would be a problem.

That would be something you would have to try monitoring your blood sugars to determine. Every one is different and responds differently to different foods. A good book is Diabetes Solution by Dr Richard K Bernstein. He has a website and a message board with lots of information on it. You can even read lots of his book on line also. We started on his diet about 3 weeks ago and DH, who is T2, has seen a 20-25 point drop in his daily readings. It is somewhat like Atkins. But the information that we got out of the book on the disease itself and how it effects your body was amazing. We haven't found that much info anywhere else.

Good luck
Bev

I have never tried Atkins but I am Type II D and was on meds before starting SB. Now after losing 128 pounds and controlling it with diet only it has gone into remission.

HI Ladies: I am not diabetic but i am in the prediabetic stage, I am currently taking metformin. I was really hoping to get off of it soon and I ma glad that it is possible with this diet.
I am going to start checking my sugar levels in a couple of weeks and see what happens.
120 lb? wow I need to loose a litle over than that. But I am very excited and cusious what is life like being smaller. I have a very hard year ahead of me but you are all a big inspiration

Well for me I went from being a slug without any energy and hardly able to do anything without getting winded to being on my feet and on the go without getting exhausted. My doctor says that I'm a completely different person with a new lease on life and I think she is right on. I love life now and enjoy every detail. You will too, digor. Take care and keep up the great job you are doing.
