Anybody Switch and Still Lost?
Hi Guys,
I was wondering if anyone ever switched from Atkins induction to SB. I started with SB and lost 10lbs in the first 2 weeks. Then stalled. I was not on LC friends and became discouraged and stopped for a month. Then came back and lost nothing. So dropped down to DANDR and nothing happened and I dropped down to ATkins '72 and then the scale finally began to move. Now, I realllllly miss SB. I miss stuff and I'm scared to try to do SB. I miss milk and bread and fruit. They seem to stall me now. Or at least I think they do. Any advice of what I can do?

Hi, Shay. I tried to send you a PM a while back and I guess it didn't go through. As I recall, you have some issues which make weight loss tortuously slow right now. If you want to try SB again, this is what I would suggest. Do Phase 1 by the book for two weeks. Then when you are ready to start Phase 2, add in a tiny serving of something. We'll help you figure out what. Take it really slow. Post your menus every day so we can help you take a look at what might be slowing you down. I think you are going to have to go really slow with adding things. Want to try it? We'll help you every step of the way.

Shay, I switched from Atkins to SB at the end of April, so far I'm down 28 pds. The weight didn't come off as quick as Atkins but it is coming off. I also am walking daily, about an hour and twenty minutes and do Curves three times a week. I am much happier on SBD than Atkins. Like you I do enjoy the milk, multigrain bread and some fruit. I don't know what your status is in your "issues" but like Rose said, start out with the SB induction again and do it by the book. Give it some time to see if you can do it. Come to the weekly check in and see if we can continue to help you along.

I switched from Atkins to South Beach when I couldn't get rid of 12 pounds I'd gained after three years of maintaining. Well, I lost 15 pounds and am loving the foods I now eat. Of course, I was on "maintenance" so to speak and I did allow a lot of foods into my daily life - but NOT a lot that I was "afraid" to eat - like you say you are. You know - like apples and some cereals - and other things I can't think of right now. I did what Rose1 suggested - in that I followed Phase I and did not deviate. I am now gradually adding foods allowed in Phase II. Of course, it's difficult sometimes when I read a label of some of the allowed foods - I get a shock when I see the carb count. But what makes this work for me as well is that I also include the Glycemic LOAD in my choices. And, basically the foods allowed on South Beach are those that ARE low on the Glycemic Index - the Glycemic LOAD just takes that a step further.
Hang in there - I think you'll really enjoy SB. |
