^&^&^ South Beach Weekly Check-in for August 14th ~ 20th. ^&^&^

The newest addition to the Nashville Zoo!

Hello Everyone!

Welcome to the South Beach Weekly Check-In! Is everyone happy with this being a weekly rather than a daily? I think I like having it this way, although we haven't had much time to post lately. I'm going to start making time again though - I miss talking to all my fellow Beachers!

So, have a terrific, Beachy week, and Don't forget your Water!

On Plan until

Hi gals !!

I have been totally out of control this summer. Time to do something about it.

It's day 4 here, AGAIN.

Gosh, why do I keep failing? My problem times are 4:00 and TV time. I'm starting to add some protein an hour before that so I dont cheat.

Also, I'm not going to drink (wine) for a while as I have no control and get the munchies when I'm a little tipsy.

Hope everyone is doing well.

Reg, do a seek and find puzzle while you watch tv, it will keep your hands busy. Multi-tasking is what we are all about eh?
I'm up early today, the kids start back and I promised my dd waffles this morning. Not freezer waffles (that would be too easy), so I used the bisquick. I am going to get out for my ASAP so I'm not tempted.

Yesterday I ate:
B: cinnamon/rasin bar and milk
S: 4oz yougurt
L: salad with a little ranch dressing (the restaurant didn't have fat fee), steamed broccoli and a thin rib eye steak.
S: Russle Stover thin mints
I was still full from lunch and didn't really want anything else
I got up early yesterday and took a long walk 4.5 miles, did my exercises, drank my water.
I've eaten better the last few days, so I'm doing pretty good.
Hope everyone has a great week!

You bet there is! Jump in with both feet! Ask questions, post menus ( it helps to keep you on track), stop in daily to say Hi. We would love to have you.

Hi, Reg. It's good to see you again! How do DH and the kids feel about losing the junk. It's WAY easier if you don't have it in the house. If you can't get rid of it, then have lots of good things ready for yourself. You know how to do it! We drink hot tea in the evenings. I guess you could say that it's our "comfort" food. Find something legal that can be your comfort food and keep plenty on hand.

Take up knitting. We knit in the evenings. IF YOU'RE KNITTING, YOU'RE NOT EATING.

Rose- Thanks for the Big Welcome.

Hello all, I have been eating according to the LFL guidelines as much as I can , but the plan is to structured for my life style . I have been on south beach before and I think it is better for me .

Breakfast today was a Low carb slimfast, and coffee.
Lunch- will be a south beach meal ;and extra green beans .

I will pull out the book when I go home, and look it over .

I have been really exercising for the last 2 weeks . week before last I dropped 10lb, I only post 2 because I had gain 8 and I had refused to post that
.
Last week I didn’t loose any thing , but I did slack on the water . I am on track this week with the exercise the water , and the eating, and I am looking for the scales to drop.

Thanks !!

Have you tried moc-pancakes?

2 eggs
1 cup PS Ricotta
1-2 Splenda Packets
1t SF Vanilla syrup
shake of cinna.

If you have difficulty turning them, you need a hotter pan.

I serve alone, with SF Syrup, or strawberries, blueberries, etc

My plan is to join you guys on Monday. My family and I are doing a 10 week weight loss challenge before we go to Cancun in November . I currently want to lose about 30-35 pounds which I think is a high goal but at least it's something to shoot for!

Hello people. It's good to see some new faces. Today was my day the hospital so I've racked up 6 miles on the pedometer thus far. I walked 5 miles this morning so I guess that makes it a mile at work. I was busy delivering flowers.
I blew my eating a bit yesterday but managed to go down .5 pound so I was much better today.
Today I ate:
B: none
Lunch: chicken ceasar salad
S: 10 cashews
D: pork chop and green beans
S: will be sugar free pudding

Does anyone know if dry roasted nuts are better than regular canned nuts?
Will check back in tomorrow.

Good Night Everyone! It is so good to see some new faces around here - it's only Tuesday, and we already have more posts on this thread then we have for the past couple of weeks!

Reg, yes you need to borrow a knitting book!

bomen and Pooh! Hop right in, and don't hesitate to ask any and all questions you might have!

to the Beach Dawna! Again, hop right in here with us, and fire away with any questions!

Menu

Breakfast: 1/2 cup yogurt, 1/2 peach, 1 oz chopped walnuts

Snack: 1 string cheese

Lunch: Cottage cheese, cucumber and tomato with Italian dressing.

Snack: 1 peach, 1 string cheese.

Dinner: "Refrigerator Delight" - this is rather a wierd sounding combination, but we walked in after dance, which is rather late, and decided we didn't feel like cooking much! So:

1 quesadilla, a low-carb tortilla and 1 oz cheese, with salsa.
2 veggie chicken nuggets, with light honey mustard dressing for dipping.
A small serving of tomato and cucumber salad
An even smaller serving of broccoli salad.

80 oz water, 3 cups tea, 1 cup coffee.

I'm sure I will be asking questions. I need to go out and get the book which I haven't had time to do. My mind is so set on Atkins so I really need to figure out the differences!

Hello, all. I moved to SB from low carb about 3 weeks ago. I lost 2.5 pounds but they came back. Sigh.

Rosi suggested I post my menu. I'm a SAHW, so I'm near the kitchen all the time. I tend to graze rather than eating defined meals when I'm on my own.

Here's a list of today's food:

Steel cut oatmeal with carb countdown low fat milk and brown sugar sub
Tomato juice with psyllium husk stirred in
Latte made with carb countdown milk
turkey wraps with celery, a little cheese and ranch dip
a few nuts
a few bits of Hershey's SF baking chocolate chunks (they're tiny but necessary)
SF popsicle
spinach and arugula salad with turkey ham, roasted turkey, a little cheese, sunflower seeds, sprouts and ranch.
a Wasa cracker with a wedge of Laughing Cow
1/3 cup LF homemade yogurt
Dinner will be:
fish tacos with flounder, spinach, low carb tortilla, some sour cream mixed with beta trim fat replacer
spinach salad with ranch and chopped veggies
LF homemade yogurt with 8 blackberries
dessert-SF fudgesicle
a very small glass of homemade wine
As much water as I can choke down.

this is fairly typical. If I'm busy and running around, I have a SB snack bar or a meal bar if I'm out a long time. Usually, I'll have several cups of tea as well.

I try to walk 20 minutes per day if it's not oppressively hot or humid.

I notice some people use non fat dressing. I thought the book recommended using regular dressing.

I can't eat beans, even with beano. It's not an option.

I haven't eaten illegal foods for more than 3.5 years. Where am I erring?

TIA

On the face of it, your menu doesn't look too bad, but you didn't list portion sizes. How much oatmeal, how many nuts and what kind, how many turkey wraps and how much cheese and what kind, how much sour cream, how much ranch, what kind of wine, how much water. You get the idea. Keep a food diary for a few days with exact foods and portions. There is something that is holding you up; let's see if we can figure it out. In the meantime, keep on keeping on. This is definitely a phase 2 menu; did you do phase one? Come on gang, let's work on this one and help her out.

I'll write everything down and post on Monday. When I say a few nuts, I mean 3 or 4, sour cream in 1T at most, ranch is maybe 1.5 T per salad. 2 turkey wraps with slivers of cheese, maybe 1tsp each. Wine is (this week) raspberry. It's a little sweet but I don't have much of it. Re: oatmeal, it's usually 1/2 Cup cooked. The books weren't clear (as I recall) whether the 1/2 cup allowed was cooked or uncooked.

The water is hard to document because I put ice in and sometimes my husband steals it.

Wish me luck in keeping track (I hate that part.)

Thanks for the help.

BTW, Rose, I'm crocheting one of your hats.
