Good morning everyone!

I've started back on this after having some major stress in my life. I stopped dieting because I just couldn't deal with the added stress and cooking in 95 degree weather with no AC.

Good news. I didn't gain any weight. DH has decided to join in on SBD. He wants to lose 15lbs. Knowing him, it will only take the first two weeks to do that. He's 6'2" and weighs 225lbs. He's an ex-football player, so he's pretty muscular. I'm trying to make sure that he gets enough food.

When I was doing this alone. I was fixing my breakfast at the office and doing no snack. Now, I'm getting up a little earlier and making breakfast for both of us. By eating at 6:30am, I'm finding that I need that snack.

So, yesterday's menu:

1 egg (2 for him), broccoli, reduced fat swiss cheese, canadian bacon and baked beans. Coffee with equal and skim milk.

2 Carb Smart yogurts (He had 3 string cheeses and 1 yogurt)

2 cups romaine, 3oz grilled chicken breast, 2T lo carb ranch dressing, baked beans, diet coke.

1 cup romaine lettuce, 6oz burger with reduced fat swiss cheese, 1T low carb ranch dressing, 1t parmesan, baked beans.

66oz of water.

I'm hoping round two on Phase I will be as good as the first time. I'm just kind of chipping away at my weight.

Welcome back Bobbi, it's great to see you again! And it is a major pain to cook in the heat. Blah. It's always nicer if you have everyone in the family eating the same way. My hubby eats the same way I do even though he doesn't "need" to. He commented last night that he really liked the changes we've made - he doesn't even miss potatoes!

Kids, I was so tired yesterday, I fell asleep after dinner and forgot to post. It has finally cooled off enough that I can fall asleep on the couch watching tv! So keeping things nice and honest, here's my food/exercise for yesterday:
P2
B – black coffee, 2 oatmeal “muffins”
L – romaine salad w/ turkey, tomato, almonds, ff ranch
S – 15 almonds
D – unstuffed peppers made with turkey Italian sausage/ground turkey over spaghetti squash, strawberries and cantaloupe w/ff cool whip
W – yes
E – 20 min. yoga, step, stretch

Now I can get to the good stuff!

I knew it would happen! I just knew that as soon as the weather cooled I’d have a whoosh! And boy howdy did I ever. The scale dropped to 224.2 this morning. I was so surprised I hopped off and tried again. Then I did it a third time just to be sure! That makes a grand total of 25.2 pounds I’ve lost. In twelve weeks! No diet pill is gonna do that. Oooo, I’m all happy and giddy now. Hee! And mutlitple Hoots!!! O.W.L. is da bomb!!!!

I must go exercise now.

Hi,

Just starting to South Beach! wish me luck. I lost about 35 on atkins, but gained it all back. SB seems much less restrictive with fruits, legumes etc. and appears it will be easier to stick with this in the long run. Wish me luck!

I have to tell all of you.....I got a small amount of satisfaction last night.

The first time that I did Phase I, on day two I had major carb cravings and DH pooh poohed me.

This time around, because I never went far off of plan, the carb cravings aren't that bad. Really just craving something sweet. So, I did organic peanut butter with an equal and a little cocoa.

DH is having MAJOR carb cravings. He was jittery around the house last night. I told him it was karma for acting like I was silly when I was going through it.

I did tell him that it was probably going to be the worst day, after that it gets easier.

It was hard finding the motivation to go back on this. I especially miss my wine the first two weeks. But, I'm actually feeling very good about it at the moment.

100Plus.....welcome to the Beach!

Thursday Evening. Kids, I'm really tired tonight *yawn*

P2
B – black coffee, Kashi Go-Lean, mixed berries, skim milk
L – spinach salad w/ turkey, tomato, chick peas, almonds and ff ranch
S – 1 med apple w/ 2 tbsp natural peanut butter
D – Veggie/chicken casserole – bloody mary after dinner drink
W – 128 oz
E – 20 min yoga, step workout, 10 min abs, stretch

I’m going to start keeping better track of the amount of water/liquid I’m drinking during the day. I have a feeling I’m not getting enough in, especially with my exercising. I figure I need to drink about 160 oz if I’m exercising and it’s hot out; less on the day I don’t exercise and when it’s cooler. I’m going to try and get at least 128 oz everyday. This really won’t be too hard, I drink tons of water anyway

So, Wednesday night, DH was still jittery. I asked him to weigh himself. He had lost 4.5 pounds in 2 1/2 days. I was quite concerned as I feel that's too fast. He says he's getting enough food, he's not hungry, but craving carbs. I let him have pizza that night. I ate the toppings.

So, I think I'm just going to put in him into Phase II. He only wants to lose 15 to 20lbs, and if the first week is indicative of how he'll lose, I think he'll be just fine.

Bobbi, my husband doesn't need to lose any weight at all! He's about 6'2" and weighs 167 lbs! He's eating this way to support me and to keep himself healthy. Also, we are trying to get the kids into a lifetime of healthy eating habits. I figure if he wants to "cheat" he can do that when he's at work and I'm not around to be tempted. I know he doesn't have to eat the same way I do, but we both know it's healthier if he does.

He mentioned to me last week that he really enjoys the new way I've been cooking and he likes all meals. Last night we had this delicious veggie casserole that I added chicken too and it's totally SB friendly - mostly veggies with only 1 cup of low fat mozzeralla cheese!

I'm betting soon your hubby will enjoy this WOE too!

He was pretty much on it with me before. It's just that I would add to his plate something rice or pasta. He lost weight just doing that.

I'm just concerned that he was losing too much, too fast. I know it wasn't water weight because he's good about drinking a gallon of water a day.

Those darn men. If only we could lose like they did!

I guess if he's not hungry and he's eating healthily, he's just a fast loser.

I was so tired today. I wanted to get up and do my yoga and my step before getting ready to go to a Scout meeting. I could barely open my eyes after hitting the snooze bar 5 times. I’ve been out of it all day. I even fell asleep on the couch watching tv. I slept badly last night so I think that was part of it. I was going to take tomorrow off exercising, but today was it. I’m ready for bed now.

Food/Exercise for Friday

B – black coffee, 2 oatmeal “muffins”, quiche cup, ½ cup skim milk
L – spinach salad w/leftover unstuffed peppers, tomato, chickpeas, ff blue cheese and crumbled corn chips
S – almonds, 1 square dark chocolate
D – steak, onions & mushrooms, broccoli w/cheese, cantaloupe w/feta cheese and pepper
W – 113 oz
E – 20 min. yoga, 8 mile bike ride, 10 min abs.

I’m thinking I need to clarify this “muffin” thing. The original recipe was for a “big breakfast oatmeal cookie” which was 1/3 cup oatmeal, 1/3 cup nonfat dry milk, 1/3 cup applesauce, etc. I have tripled that and baked same in a muffin tin for convenience sake. One can extrapolate that 4 “muffins” equal one serving. That’s a lot of “muffin”! At the most I eat 2. And please note, these are not real muffins, they are muffin shaped oatmeal bars. And I must say they are darned tasty as well as very convenient!

Food for Saturday

B – black coffee, 2 oatmeal “muffins”
L – deli ham and turkey, cheese, fritos (at a Scout function)
S – almonds
D – leftover veggie/chicken casserole, strawberries w/ff coolwhip
W – 136 oz
E – Day off

Hi Lynn, We've made your "muffin" recipe and it is delicious. Glad to see that you are still doing so well. Not many of us around these days, but DD and I are in this for life. We are trying to kick up exercise for a while.

Rose, I'm gonna stick around too. I'm about 1/3 of the way to my goal. I anticipate at least another year, doing it the right way with this WOE and exercise. I hope to never, ever put this weight back on.

Measurement day! Lost some more off the upper half and off my core. Exactly where I need to lose!

Bra band – another ½ inch for a total of 4.25”
Waist – no change 4.5”
Jelly Belly – ½ inch for a total of 4.25”
Hips – ¼ inch for a total of 3.00”

Total of 22.5” lost. Go me!

B – Kashi Go Lean, skim milk, mixed berries
L – leftover veggie/chicken casserole, cantaloupe
D – Oriental chicken bowl at Applebees (only 1/2 of it - I asked for a to-go box when I got my meal and put 1/2 in right away), part of a Blondie dessert
W – 129 oz
E – 20 min yoga, step workout, stretch, 10 min abs
