What about Carb-Quick?
Having decided I was just spinning my wheels after 3.5 years on low carb, I've decided to switch to SB.
I still have the mental carb allergy and a lot of carb quick in the cupboard. Is it OK for SBD or is there too much fat? Could/should it be "stretched" by adding WW flour or oat flour? Any ideas? TIA for the help. Pam |

Strictly speaking, no, Carbquick is not OK. It is white flour; whole grains are acceptable for SB. The serving size is 1 oz, about one biscuit and who eats one biscuit? .You will be miles ahead if you follow the plan exactly as written for Phase 1 and then transition into Phase 2. There are lots of great recipes acceptable for SB that use whole grain products. Good luck. |

I have used Carbquik and Carbalose 'flours' all along and have never had a problem with weight gain or cravings with either of them. It is NOT white flour, but a mixture of whole grain and soy flours.
Also, if you don't allow yourself a little 'breathing' room in ANY way of eating you will fail. Variety is the key to any eating plan, so if something new comes along and it doesn't make you gain or crave, I say go for it. Each person is different and what works for one doesn't work for another. I have always said follow what works for you, and for some of us going strickly 'by the book' doesn't work. Well... I lost 2.5 pounds then gained them back.
My husband is happy to see wheat bread again instead of gluten bread but I still eye it suspiciously. I'm probably not drinking enough water. I was sure giving up the low-carb ice cream and heavy cream in my coffee would help but so far, SB isn't doing anything more than Atkins. I've been this weight for over a year and I think my body just wants to be this size. Sigh. |

Do you have the South Beach book? Often, reviewing it will give you an idea of something you can adjust. If you're doing the plan completely by the book, you really should be seeing some results. If you want, you can post your menus and we'll take a look at them.
And come join us on the Check-In thread! 'Lots of good advice and support over there, so come introduce yourself! ![]() |
