:: Tuesday, June 6th Check-In ::

Some of the local scenery...

Good morning!

Well, we're on our third straight day of being good! As I recall, this gets easier the longer you go... We even stayed away from the (very good) apple cider from the nearby orchard that one of the ladies at the library hauled out of her freezer and brought in!

And now...

Rose 1 presents...

An historical moment!

Today is the 62nd anniversary of the beginning of Operation Overlord.
Better known as D-Day, June 6th, 1944 was the day the American, British, and Canadian troops landed on the Beaches of Normandy, beginning the Allied Invasion of Europe, and eventually leading to the defeat of the Axis powers in WWII.

If you would like to see it, I've put together a tribute page for the website I run - the link is in my signature, just click on "Enter" when the site loads.

And now, we return to our regularly scheduled thread...

I'm a bit of a history nut, if you can't tell!

Anyway, check in, post your menus, and drink your water!

Monday's Menu:

Breakfast: Egg Salad on lettuce, V-8.
Snack: 1 String Cheese
Lunch: 1/2 veggie burger, 1/2 cup green bean salad, 4 celery sticks w/ Peanut Butter
Supper: 1 oz Barilla Plus Angel Hair noodles, broccoli, mushrooms, 4 cheese pasta sauce, garlic, and parmesan.
Dessert: 2 cups of Mocha - coffee, milk, cocoa powder, and Splenda.

On Plan until

I've had a rough couple of days, having family in my house topped off with the worst TOM I've had in years. I hadn't lost any weight. But considering that I was being dragged to restaurants that everyone else chose, I didn't expect to. Plus Sunday while feeling miserable with bloat, cramps and backache....I had two donuts. However, this morning is my weekly weigh in...and I somehow managed to lose 2lbs.

So, back to the plan. I have 8 pounds until my mini-goal. It seems so close now.

Good morning all. Been out for my morning walk 7568 of my steps for today. Today is my day at the hospital so I'm sure I'm make my 10,000 easily.

My menu for yesterday:
B: milk and SBD cereal bar
L: grilled chicken ceasar salad
S: few nuts
D: roast chicken, zucchini squash and a few bites of wild rice pilaf
S: none

The kind of bread I use, I buy from a place called La Madaline's. It is a 7 grain bread that has flax seed in it. I've been using one slice a day with my egg/canadian bacon/cheese breakfast. I really like it and it is a bread my Mom eats it so it doesn't go to waste.

Have a good one ya'll.

Hi All!
I'm slowly getting back to the land of the living. Today is the first day in almost a week I haven't crawled back in bed for a nap. Well, I shouldn't talk yet, the day isn't over!
I made my mini goal! 167 this morning! Exercising has not been happening yet. But, my DH is going to start pushing me once this cough is gone. I'm not sure if when he told me that it was a threat or a warning!
Meals are getting sooooooo boring around here. Typically grilled meat and a salad. And there are only so many ways to do that. I'm amazed that I've gone this 4+ months without feeling this way. I'm going to check the sticky and see if I can find anything new. Any other ideas would be appreciated.
Kids and I are heading out to clean out the van. My 5yo thinks using the shop vac is great so its all his job!
Have a great day!

Recipes to browse through

http://www.southbeachrecipes.com/

This is my first try at inserting a link but wanted to share this site that I came across yesterday. It is just full of South Beach recipes for each phase. Kristen this may be worthwhile for you to take a glance through. Enjoy trying some of them.

Hi everyone,

Sharon, I was looking at that recipe site. I would love to make the Very Berry Orange Oat Muffins, but I wouldn't want so many laying around.

Can someone let me know if rolled oats are the same thing as old fashioned oats?

Here was my menu for yesterday:
L: White meat chicken with wing spices, celery
D: Pork and cauliflower, tomatoes with salt
a couple cups of unsweetened darjeeling tea.

Now if only there was a restaurant that used whole wheat bread crumbs on their calamari...mmmm!

Yes Amy rolled oats are the same as the old fashioned oats (Quaker). They do sound good don't they.

Good evening Beachers. I'm just dropping in for a fast check-in. I'm so sleepy tonight. TOM is here and keeping my weight from falling! I did do an hour on the treadmill and really felt the burn in my thighs and butt. Maybe I'm building musscle huh?

Menu for today is:
B: left over crustless pizza
L: Hamburger patty with backed zucchini
D: cereal
S: SF jello with whipped topping
LOTS of water and a couple of cups of hot tea.

Let’s get right to the food, shall we?

B – oatmeal and black coffee
S – Laughing Cow cheese wedge
L – Spinach salad w/ turkey, tomato, ff cheese shreds, ranch dressing
S – 1 piece of beef jerky, handful of crazy mixed up chex (it’s insanely delish and someone brought it in to the lounge)
D – Shepherd’s Pie the South Beach Way
Dessert will be sugar free jello

I haven’t yet, but I’m going to work on my arms tonight with the hand weights I have. It’s just too darn hot to do cardio.

I’ve been trying new recipes as I don’t want to get bored with just grilling meat and plain veggies. I'm going to start another thread and post the two recipes I've tried and liked plus the one I made tonight.

*hugs my South Beach Buddies*
