So what should our carb counts be?
I don't remember reading this and my book is at home. What is the range that our daily carb intake should be at?

HI. There is not a certain carb count as in Atkins. If you plan menus according to the food lists, you will be fine. Just keep portions sizes reasonable and eat from the allowed foods until satisfied, not stuffed.

Hi BobbiOh! I wondered the same thing when I was doing the phase one of south beach the first time. So I wrote down EVERYTHING that crossed my lips with its calorie contents as well as fat and carb contents (I didn't write down protein though). So I went and dug out the notebook I wrote it all down in so I could accurately give you some examples.
1st Day 1214.5 Calories/ 30.5 carbs/ 66.2 grams Fat 2nd Day 1181.5 Calories/ 34 Carbs/ 51.5 grams Fat 3rd Day 1187.5 Calories/ 38 Carbs/ 50 grams Fat 4th Day 1268.5 Calories/ 31.5 Carbs/ 54.7 grams Fat 5th Day 1074.5 Calories/ 58.5 Carbs/ 33.1 grams Fat 6th Day 1400.5 Calories/ 45.5 Carbs/ 67.3 grams Fat 7th Day 1357.5 Calories/ 38 Carbs/ 54 grams Fat That's for the first week. Now, I did NOT follow the south beach diet exactly day by day, I mixed at matched the foods from the first phase because some of the recipes I did not like. So the averages came out to be 1240.6 Calories 39.4 Carbs and 53.8 grams of Fat per day. And I think those averages sound pretty good for someone trying to lose weight. Really though they say you don't have to keep track on South Beach, I just did it for my own curiosity the first week. |
