Hi Gang

Where is everyone? Well I got up and did my walk this morning. Just ate brkst.

Lynn, The salmon/cream cheese.... my friend had smoked salmon sent to her from Alaska, and she gave me some at Christmas time, and I made it with cream cheese too. Talk about good. Oh my word. It was soooooo goooood. My mouth is watering now...geesh!! AND your menu looks ok. Just be careful, when they take something out of something they usually add more sugar or fat...lol >>> I am rattling about your berry v8 juice. Just check sugar content so it does not iduce hunger. I know it sounds like we eat a lot ,doesnt it!!

My weigh in this morning last week, 154.8 this week 154.2 Which by itself does not look all that great, but when I woke up last Thurs morn I was 157.2. I do not know why, but I am glad it is gone plus some. I guess the whoosh fairy visited after all.

Waving hi to everyone. I have to leave for awhile, but I will be back later to read and answer .... HAVE A GREAT DAY!

Well, 3 weeks done, and 13lbs lost. Official count for my first week of Phase 2 is 2lbs. Which was my goal for this phase.

I did the Ricotta for the first time last night. Put a little almond extract, vanilla extract and cocoa in. It was quite tasty, although 1/2 cup was way too much. I ate about half.

I need to be better about walking, but we're busy getting the house settled for my mother's visit.

Yesterday's Menu:

1/2 Diet Coke (milk was sour)

2 slices ham, 1 slice of reduced fat cheese and 1/3 cup baked beans. (I forgot my eggs at home)

1 Cup Romaine, Balsamic spray dressing, 2 oz shrimp, tomato & basil hummus, Diet Coke

8oz burger, 1 slice reduced fat cheese, 1C broccoli, 1/3 cup baked beans

1/2C Ricotta blend.

48 Oz water

I was starving yesterday since I forgot my eggs at home. It threw everything off. So rather than deal with nighttime hunger, I had a big dinner that was legal.

Good morning. My walk and exercises are over! Today is my day to volunteer at the hospital so I'm going to shower and leave early so I can go to lunch. I usally go to this place called LaMadaline's and get a chicken cesar salad. I work from 12-4.
Dinner will be pork chops, salad and a veggie.
For snacks I have some nuts or popcicles. I love the tropical fruit flavored sugar free ones. Takes care of my evening cravings when I have them
Have a grate day ya'll.

Good Morning Everyone!
My little guy slept in this morning and I sat curled up in the recliner and watched two movies (parts of two) and drank coffee. What a relaxing start to the morning.
Well, that was after getting DD on the bus, dragging out the trash, unloading the dishwasher, and uncovering all the plants that we tried to protect from the frost last night! I hope the lettuce and spinach survived, we didn't cover it. Salad greens are so expensive around here still.
I weighed myself after having a bowl of oatmeal and two cups of coffee and wearing sweats. And I was about the same as yesterday in just a T-shirt. So things are looking good! Finally feeling better too. Don't know what I did to finally go to the bathroom but....
About yogurt. Does the book say up to two cups of milk/yogurt? I rarely drink milk but do eat the two cups of yogurt almost every day. DH has recently added an 8oz container daily and says that it has started his weight loss again.
I watched the beginning of "Honey, We'r Killing the Kids" last night and part of "Jamie Oliver's School Lunch Project". Both of them about kids' eating choices and health. Jamie had a statistic that absolutely shocked me. He said that this generation (today's kids) is the first in history that is expected to die before their parents! And on the other show the lady (Dr. maybe) said that although the average life expectancy of white woment in America is 80 years the girls in the family they were showing would probably live only to 65 unless serious changes were made to their eating habits, exercise and health. Talk about all the reason you need to eat right and exercise! I'm doing this for me and my kids!
Hope you all find some encouragement in that too.
Gonna go play ball with the kiddo now.

Morning all! It’s gonna be a great day – so let it be written, so let it be done!

My angst from yesterday was purely hormonal. Usually I have fair warning, but…nope, not this time. Ah well, at least I don’t have to weigh myself tomorrow (snicker).

Shelia – I did a side by side comparison of the two V8 juices:

Diet Berry V8 vs. Low Sodium V8
8 oz
8% juice vs. 100% juice
10 calories vs. 50 calories
0 fat vs. 0 fat
25 mg sodium vs. 140 mg sodium
80 mg potassium vs. 820 mg potassium
3 g total carbs vs. 10 g total carbs
0% dietary fiber vs. 2 g dietary fiber
2 g sugar vs. 8 g sugar
0% protein vs. 2g protein

I think I’m safe. I just couldn’t eat a salty/savory drink with my oatmeal. I’ll probably switch back and forth everytime I go to the grocery store. Just to keep life interesting.

I need to toddle off to work now. I’ll check back in later.

Good afternoon all !!

Did some food shopping today, then my DD got cranky and had to cut it short. I didnt get everything on my list. Hopefully I can get out later when DH comes home.

Busy morning here today, but I did manage take a HB egg and decaf in the car with me while I was running errands.....good start.

For lunch I had turkey breast w/RF swiss rolled up and heated (yum), some lettuce and diet soda.

Not sure about dinner, but I'm craving beef.....maybe taco-less tacos (96/4 with seasonings, over romaine, RF cheddar, salsa)

SF Ice pops for snack.

Gotta drink some more water too.

Made my jello/yogurt mix for tomorrow

TOM arrived a week early......figures, on day one of the diet

Hope everyone is having a great day on the Beach

hi Reg
So today is day one for you? I am on day 2.

I bought some part skim ricotta yesterday, someone said mix it with SF pudding mix? hmmm

I am searching the recipes as we speak. How interesting

Do you use Fitday? I do just to keep myself accountable. Also I turn the puter off at 7pm so I wont eat anything cuz I wont remember to put it in fitday LOL

Yesterday my calories were under 1200 today Im trying to get up to 1000 since I forgot BF. Im gonna have to have DH buy the book on his way home so I can read it lol I thought maybe I could go without but.....

Does anyone suggest any other books I should get besides the main diet one? sometimes they are such a waste.

Oh Reg, doesnt that sound about right. Don't it figure. I see where you asked where everyone went. I do not know. I was gone for a while and come back and no one hardly was here.

Melissa, the south beach resturant guide is good. I do not have one personally, but my dil in Louisianna does, and swears by it.

Popcorn, I allow myself some once in awhile, the lower fat version, and usually the 100 cal. bags. I have only one, and not near a weigh day because of sodium retention. LOL.

Melissa, jsut buy the SB book, then go to the library and check out the cookbooks. Also look in the other LC cookbooks for more recipes. Spend your money on new clothes.

Melissa - I borrowed the book from a friend and read it over. Then I found this and some other websites. Just about everything you need to know you can find online. I'm not even trying to find the book to buy anymore.

Hi All,

I started SB yesterday. Thanks for the invite to this board, Sheila.

My TOM started over the weekend, before I started SB, and I gained 4-5 pounds literally overnight. But before that I weighed 180.

So this morning I wake up and I weigh 181 or so, so I lost most of what I gained due to TOM, but hopefully will lose the 8-12 lbs you expect to lose on Phase 1 off of my original weight. I don't have the heart to change my stats to have the starting weight of 184 because I don't feel like I deserved those 4 lbs that showed up overnight! We'll see though.

Anyway, I love that we can have nuts, yogurt, beans, and milk in the beginning of SB!! Small happies. I did Atkins before and it was good and worked well, but I will be even happier on SB if it works for me.

Also my costco was giving samples of Talking Rain made with splenda and I bought a case. Pretty good stuff.

Do people go into ketosis on this WOE? Transitioning into ketosis was always not fun for me - nausea, light-headedness. But so far I have all my energy, which is great.

Hello everyone!

Today was fairly good. I lost two of the three pounds I gained over the weekend. Still trying to figure that one out. Soooooooo I'm up one for the week. Makes me crazy!

I was a very good girl with my exercise and pushed myself real hard and went 2.73 miles in 50 minutes and burned 360 calories. Boy was I tired when I got done doing that. I pushed to go 3.4 which for these chubby legs is not easy.

Today's menu was:
Breakfast: 2 hard boiled eggs, 1 oz of low-fat cheese, 1 cup of 1% milk
lunch: grilled pork chops with low carb barbecue sauce, baked zucchini with low fat cheese.
Dinner: chef's salad with my yummy lowcarb dressing
desert: SF lime jello with a 1/4 cup of homemade whipped topping.

Do you all think that menu is bad or good or what????

Oh on the Fitday thing. I only use it if I want to see how much something is. I found it too time consuming to keep that sort of count. Plus, I'm really lazy.

I also agree with going to the library to check out the low carb cookbooks. I went last week and got 5 really great one. I am typing the ones I like up and will print them and glue them to index cards. I have quite a nice collection now of low carb and tasty foods.

You all are doing great and your efforts will get you to goal. KUTGW everyone.

I am not having a fun evening. Son #2 is working on his book report which may or may not be due tomorrow. Maybe it's due Friday. He's not sure. He's only known about it for the last, oh, 2 months. He just finished reading the book last night. Am I getting any help whatsoever from the adult Y chrome? No. Grrrrrrr. I should let the kid take the F. But heaven forbid I should "nag" him to read or work on the report in a timely manner. Horrors.

Food:

B - same as yesterday
L - same as yesterday
S - celery and peanut butter
D - Pork chop and left over veggie casserole

Drank the water. Going back to work on my book report. Sure hope I get an "A".
