Please Help !! Something seems wrong..
This is my 10th day in and I am doing pretty much everything by the book. I dont have caffeine or sugar substitutes what so ever. I havent felt too bad up till this morning. I havent slept well for the last three nights due to RLS (Restless Leg Syndrome) and I have had it once in a blue moon but never 3 nights in a row where it kept me up all night. I absolutley dont know what is happening. I had even upped my food in take with more veggies. The only thing that was new was started taking One A Day Carb Smart about 4 days ago for achy feeling in body. It helped with that but The RSL started and has gotten pregressivly worse. I have not started really excersizing so still somewhat sedentary. This morning when trying to get up heart felt like it was racing out of control and RLS was worse than I have ever experienced. I am currently out of town with DH on business trip so I had been taking it easy. Why am I feeling this bad 10 days in I wasnt feeling bad in the beginning. Can someone please help me with this.

Verde-
Wish I could give more help than that. Take it easy and take care of yourself. Head to a Dr if you think you need it. I know it is horrible to think that, especially when you're out of town, but sometimes you just know when there is a problem. Better to have it checked out than second guess yourself. ![]() |

I definitely did NOT feel bad 10 days into the program. I only felt bad (flu like symptoms) for the first 4 days and then great after that. Definitely get yourself checked out and please keep us informed as to how you are doing.

Verde, I felt sick for almost a month. The weight came off but I felt bad. I had never felt this bad on any other diet. Then again I had really eaten the carbs a lot prior to the diet. I now feel really good and have energy. I am glad that I waited it out. So, girl just hang in there. Good luck.

I have RLS also. It was odd for me when I read this post because I JUST came back from surfing the net about RLS. (I wanted to send something to my Grandma about it so that she would understand what I'm going through).
Dieting has never affected my RLS that I'm aware of. Are you taking anything for it? My doctor prescribed a low dose of Flexeril (a muscle relaxer) and it helps me a lot. I take it as soon as I feel the RLS kicking in and it usually knocks it out. Well, it usually knocks ME out! lol

I started the diet 3 days after having gall bladder surgery & pancreatitis, so I wasn't feeling great anyway. But I didn't have any additional discomfort or symptoms. I have heard that the withdrawal from a poor eating regime, whether too many carbs, too much fat, or just too much food in general can be very difficult. I have heard of flu-like symptoms such as Lisa mentioned, terrible headaches and various other ailments. The length that it lasts varies too.
I do think that you should get a check-up! It wouldn't be good to think your feeling bad is diet-related only to find out that you are really ill! If it turns out that it is the diet, then I believe your body really needs the "detox" it is going through! Stick with it and I'm betting that you'll feel so much better when that process is complete! I hope you feel better soon! ![]() |

I usually don't stray to far frm the lounge, I must have neen meant to read this thread. I have RLS and after about a week of low carbing it started really acting up. I was getting next to no sleep. I actually had to take muscle relaxers at bedtime for about a week. After that it just went away, unless I forget to take my vitamin during the day that is. Hope this will help some.

Thank you everyone for your concern. I ended up going to see a Dr. he was super nice and although he couldnt confirm that it was indeed RLS he said he could refer me to Nuroligist but it would be pricey. My blood pressure is fine so that is good. He said that he could prescribe me something but I could only take it for a couple of days because it is somewhat addictive. That is when I told him about being on South Beach. I was sooo delighted by his reaction. He said that it is a great woe and that he has many patients that are diabetics that he has recommended SB to. He said most have done great and really backs it. I wasnt expecting such a great responce. He did however tell me that Benadryl could hopefully help me through the night. I felt o.k. today but I am kind of dreading going to sleep in case it flares up again.

Verde,
After two weeks I went into what some call 1.5 phase here. half way in-between.Here is a typical meal for me. The major difference now is a little bigger portions. On phase one I never skipped the snacks. I really needed them. Now it just depends. Here goes. B- 2 or three hard boiled eggs with V-8 Juice( If I have an omelet with veggies then no V-8 Juice. Sometimes Canadian Bacon then 2 eggs. S- Hummus with Veggies( Bell Pepper, Califlower, Celery) L- Homemade veggie soup( got the recipes from the sticky at the top)Always add 1/2 c of beans. I have tried salad for lunch it doesn't keep me full. S- cottage cheese, cheese stick, or laughing cow cheese D 3-4oz of meat- Salad with Veggies/ 1-2 tlb LF Italian Dressing S- Always a Fudgescile sometimes I do have a fruit but, it really don't like them.sometimes a piece of bread but not very often .I guess it is modified Atkins. I don't know. It has worked for me. The beans are the big difference for me.Oh, I have the carrots in the soup when I want them. Hope this helps. Good luck
