I lost 5 lbs in one week!

I am doing kind of a south beach diet, but I skipped phase one and I'm pretty much doing phase 2. I'm happy that I lost 5 lbs in 6 days so far! The only thing I am doing that is not exactly south beach is...I eat bananas and I make my own carrot/orange juice, I eat mini carrots for snacks, and I also use a little cream in my coffee instead of lowfat milk. Maybe I skipped directly to phase 3! Does anyone else make modifications like this to the south beach diet and still have some success? I am feeling good and I don't get too hungry, when I am hungry I eat something. I haven't had any processed foods at all, no sweeteners or diet soda or sugar free popsicles...not yet anyway.

Congrats Jeenyl! 5 lbs is great! Bananas and carrots are now phase 2 program. Hats off to you on the no processed and no nf foods, sometimes they can be triggers. Wow, you've stats are great!

You are doing a wonderful job!!!! Congrats on losing 5 pounds in a week!!! Woohoo!!

I have always made modifications to the program and enjoyed great success. I lost 14 pounds in the first two weeks and was eating regular bacon (crumbed up in my quiche cups). I've made several other modifications along the lines and my husband eats bananas daily because of a potassium deficiency and lost nicely when he was following the program more faithfully. I'm a firm believer in doing what works for you and obviously what you are doing is working!! The only time I tweak is when I see "my way" has stopped working and that didn't happen until I lost over 100 pounds!

Big Congrats on your 5 lb weight loss. Your doing great.

I'm not really following the SB to a tee either,I eat more like a low carb dieter would.[ NO bread carbs or fruit carbs were in my menus.] but I think I will as I'm on a stuck mode right now with my weight loss.

Going to add sprouted bread instead of WW and I will go for grains like barley instead of pasta.Fruits I will add in SLOWLY as they have too much natural suguars in them.

What ever works for you is the best. Wishing you the best for a happy & healthy weight loss journey.

Hugs CAG

Way to go on the 5#. I really think that most people tweak this woe to fit themselves. I too eat more like LC since I don't add fruits or grains. What I do have that I didn't have on Atkins is lot of beans. I have really found that they seems to fill me up. I would say if it is working for you then it is right.

Congrats!!

Down here we say, "If it ain't broke, don't fix it" and I think that applies to you. I also have modified SBD to suit my life and food likes. I skipped phase one, and I believe that starting on phase two was the reason I was able to stick to it the first couple of weeks. I do eat fruit, and the occasional sugar free/low carb whole grain bread. But I probably eat even fewer carbs most days than the actual diet allows. For me, it's about being aware of where I am overall.

I'm proud of you for the 5 lbs. As long as it works for you, keep doing it. Tweaking is what keeps us from dying of boredom.

Keep up the good work!!!

Jean
