Grocery shopping
I just got home from the grocery store. I have upped my trips from once every two weeks to once a week since starting this diet because I am eating a lot more produce.
Is it just me or does this diet seem to be a little on the expensive side. I know I have the advantage of using the commissary(grocery store on base) which does save me money compared to shopping at grocery stores off base but I'm wondering if it just the fact that I have just started that makes it more expensive. Do the cost taper off in the long run? I bought some carb control yogurt & some carb freedom blue bunny fudgecicles but other than that nothing really special. I did notice the wheat pasta was about 3 time the price of a box of regular speghetti !

I'm sure you're bill will go down as you acquire more the the basics. It is more expensive to eat fresh produce instead of processed stuff - but worth it.
Also, you don't need low carb products. You can eat regular yogurt and SF fudgicles. Most of the low carb prducts add fat and calories because they use cream products instead of skim milk. On SB, you can drink skim milk so it's not an issue. |

I love the fresh fruits and veggies, even if my grocery bill is a little higher. Love it, love it, love it. Did I say how much I loved it?

Way too much time on my hands!

Sometimes I think my grocery bill is higher....but if I factor into the cost of groceries all the fast food and junk food I used to eat...it really isn't that much more.

The groceries bill is higher living this lifestyle. But since you broke it down like you did Jenny, I would have to agree with you. But I love eating this way so I can't complain.
Msmbrad, I am fortunate to be able to shop at the commissary also. Since I am still in Phase I, I haven't had to buy the whole wheat pasta and things.. |

My grocery bill is definitely higher. It's always more expensive to eat in a healthy manner. Well worth it, though. Think of all of the money you'll save when you're older on medical bills! I'm already looking forward to NOT being plagued with the same problems my mother has:
