Moi? Excited to exercise??

What changed since yesterday???? I have no idea but I am absolutely siked to get out for my walk today! I plan to add another half a mile (making 1 & 1/2 total) AND I'm going to start toning my arms!

I've been very very worried about all of the fat under my arms in the tricep area. Well, I just did a few real good flexes and discovered that I have muscle under there (except for maybe an inch or two) and so maybe there IS hope that I won't end up with the "batwings" that some people get after weight loss. Maybe I will end up with them...I dunno...but I'm going to try really hard to tone it up. So, if I can fly with those wings, it won't be because I didn't TRY to clip them! Jeff is going to take some steel stock he has in the shop and make hand weights for me. He has all of the equipment to make a nice pair for me.

I've decided to challenge myself. I am going to walk 500 miles before January 1, 2007!!!! I get tired just thinking about it, but I think I can do it!

I would love to join you! I just need to track out a course around the neighborhood since I'm holding off on buying a treadmill until we move. I know I can walk a mile a day & survive

Are there any specifics? When do we start?

I really need to get a pedometer now..wait can they record miles or is it just steps?

I think pedometers only measure step count but there is a guide that tells you how many steps equal a mile.

A pedometer will measure miles, kilometers, steps, and calories used ( in theory) and some get even fancier. A lot of people in the step challenge use the $3.88 model from Wal-mart.

Yeah Marlette!! I'm so glad you're "stepping" on board with me!
As to what we do and when we start...I already started and for me, since I don't have a treadmill or anything...it's just walking after work. I'm recording every mile I walk and have it in my signature. I really really want to see if I can get 500 miles in before next January!
To measure my mileage I'm using the van's odometer. If I start walking on a track or something, I'll have to get a pedometer.

I just wanted to comment on how happy I am for you guys! Walking is such a great form of exercise!

Theresa - you are a living example of what I have been trying to say about working out. It should be fun and something you personally find exciting. Once you find what you love to do, exercise is not a chore, it becomes a priority!

Keep us posted on your miles walked in 2006!

I'm sorry to report that I haven't gotten anymore walking in. Last night I had to go to Mississippi for Jeff's show, so there wasn't time and today I'm really feeling sick. I'm crossing my fingers for tomorrow and the rest of the weekend but I'm not so sure. I'm starting to feel like maybe this is the flu.
