***GET YOUR KIX IN 2006 - WEEK 2 CHALLENGE***

Good evening everyone!

It's so nice to have so many of us on this challenge together.

I'm ready to report my first week's progress. The bad news first - I didn't lose any weight this week . Now for the good news - I didn't lose any weight this week! I guess I should explain. I struggled the entire month of November and first few weeks of December and saw my weight steady increasing. About a pound per week. I felt so out of control. This morning when I stepped on the scale I had already told myself that I wasn't going to be upset no matter what the scale said because I felt so happy and in control of my eating and my life. So to see the scale stay the same after weeks of gaining makes me very happy. I think I only worked out once or twice and only went to the gym one day last week. Now I know I can maintain my weight and not feel like I have to work out like a maniac to do so!

Don't get me wrong, I want these 10 pounds off but I'm not willing to do any fasts (water, meat and egg, yogurt etc.) to make it happen. I even had a girlfriend say to me that maybe my body is just happy in this weight range and really doesn't want to go any lower. That could be I suppose. The other good thing that happened was last night, I tried on "goal" jeans again and even though I still can't get them buttoned or zipped, I could swear that they fit a little bit better. A friend of mine and I once said to each other that we didn't care if we weighed 200 pounds, if we could fit into a size 10, then who cares. I'm trying to maintain that attitude. My goal is a healthy body fat rate (I'm just 1% from the "normal" range) and to fit into those size 10 jeans. Even if I don't get to my "goal" weight, if I can make those two things happen before I'm down 10 pounds, then I'm at goal baby!

Anyway, that's my progress report for the week. I'd love to hear from everyone else, how you guys doing out there? Please let us know!

Here is this week's question:

"Do you look at this program as a diet or a way of life?"

I know when I first started my goal was to get the weight off and then go back to eating myself into a carb coma. I don't feel that way anymore. I have been in some very difficult eating situations from parties at friends/relatives houses that seem offended if I didn't eat their carby offerings to being faced with hospital vending machines after a relatives surgery and being starved out of my mind. But I didn't give in. I either found something acceptable to eat, thankfully had a stash in my purse or gasp waited to eat even though I was starving. Yes, people thought/think I'm crazy but getting to goal is only half the story. This has to be a mind set for us. This has to be a way of life for us (of course this is JMHO and YMMV).

I'd love to hear from everyone! Have a great week 2 on our challenge ladies!

Hi Lisa,

Late getting on here, sorry.

Whew, enjoyed our time away only to return to a "jury summons" on the days we have paid reservations for next week being away with our youngest daughter and son-in-law....... so I've been on the phone and waiting part of the morning. The judge excused me so that was great news. I hate this kind of stress. ugh! I just hated to mess up a trip our son-in-law had taken vacation days for. Thanks goodness it worked out for the good.

I think I'll have a good week and am on program.

SBD is both my diet and way of life for me Lisa, I may get off program but I know I've need to maintain it to be happier and healthier and it's doable. I love the support in our forum too, just like good family.

Hope everyone has a good one, I'm off to the gym in a little bit.

Love you guys!

Howdy all!

Hi all! I'm here to report on WEEK ONE. I started last Tuesday so today finishes a week. I lost 6 pounds, but I know a lot of that was just water weight and the upcoming weeks will really tell the tale.

I've eaten well all week - I haven't been miserable (stuffed) once and I feel so great. It really makes a difference, when I make poor choices my body feels terrible and so do I. If I plan ahead I'm cool, it's when I don't know what I'm going to eat, then I make poor choices.

I also worked out three times last week. I did one bodypump class and the other times it was the elliptical. I definitely need to up the exercising and will do so this week. Today I am terribly sore from lifting weights!

Hi Gang
All ok here. No cheats since I restarted phase 1. Still slow loss, but a loss. Everyone is doing great. I would love to be in a size 10 jean.
Oh answer to question, this is a way of eating for life for me. It has to be, or I will gain everything back.

Marva - it's nice to hear things are going well. I'm glad you get to take your trip! I know you mean about keeping yourself happy while on this journey. I haven't been 100% all of the time but I do strive to be 100% 80% of the time, if that makes sense. You have done so well for so long and I have no doubt you'll get to where you want to be when you and your body are ready!

ChicagoGirl - congrats on losing 6 pounds! That is just awesome!! I did a boot camp class at the gym today and my arms and legs are so sore, it's hard to walk but in a good way, if you know what I mean. Keep up the great work hun!!!

Marva - I haven't checked it out. I've heard about it from the main board but since I don't have that much more weight to lose, I wasn't sure if it was something that would be right for me. I'll check it out when I get a chance. It would be nice if we could have own little SBD group participate.

I realized that I forgot to check in here yesterday. I have lost 6# on Phase 1. I used to do Atkins. This is much easier to do. I love having more veggies, especially the beans. Thanks for all of you being here. I read the book but this site has filed in the holes for me. Something interesting is that my whole family with the exception of my skinny Dh is doing SB. We had out first weigh in- this week. We have a three month Challenge.I think this family thing will really help me stay cheat free. Beside me we had really good weigh in My SIL lost 9#, One DD # 6 the other#7 . Her DH lost #2.We took a family picture and one of each of us. I will try to put it up on the BB.

Hi guys - I'm back. Mind if I join your little challenge?
Things are going well for me, I've been at the job for six months now (holy!) and the house is coming along.
I've been maintaining in phase-three-land for a while now, and pretty happy overall, but I have put on a few pounds over the course of the last few months, and am ready to commit to doing phase two again to get them off. Nothing huge - four or five pounds and I'll be back to goal range.
Sorry I just disappeared - you ladies helped me tremendously and you deserve my respect and support - even while I'm maintaining. My life has just been crazy busy, and with the new job, house, and all, I was feeling pretty overwhelmed. I missed you guys, and have been peeking in periodically in the last six months.
Lisa - good to "see" you honey, and Marva - you're so strong and consistent!!! Love you guys.
Hi to everyone I haven't "met" yet.
I'll be back. PROMISE!

Ally - hi hon, boy have we missed you! I wondered where you had gotten away too. So glad to have you back! Now you've made a promise to stick around and no matter how busy real life gets don't forget about us! You know me and how I've been MIA from time to time but I never forget about the gang here on the Beach either. I'm pretty close to goal but I vow to stick around. I know how easy it can be to let a pound here and a pound there creep up on you.

Dorothy - I gotta take a look at that gorgeous family of yours. Congrats on how well you have all done so far! You should be so proud!!!

morning ladies!

Had eggs for breakfest- hoping they settle my tummy . I have to work a double today and don't feel good. I know that sometimes when I feel blah I tend to want to eat "comfort" foods so in a way I'm glad I'm working and can stay on track.

speaking of .....I'd been real interested to learning what your "comfort" foods are the LC way?

Hope everyone does well today. It's going to be really warm here today.almost 60/ and for Jan in dayton oh that is really something!

Old Music Fan,

For me, my comfort food is not really food but coffee. I LOVE Starbucks, but they don't offer many LC choices. So, I have ordered SF Davinci Syrups for my coffee and use 1% milk and they are really good. I also really like the SF puddings and look forward to eating them as desserts.

Hi Annie! It's nice to meet you. There is always room for one more here. I'm a CC poster too. I look forward to getting to know you. I just started our third week's thread so join right in!

oldmusic - my comfort food is breakfast stuff. I will make a couple of eggs, lower fat bacon and have a serving of grits. Yummy. That's my favorite. I also really enjoyed eating the mock hamburger helper (recipe on the recipe board) but I had to stop eating it because it's loaded with calories from all the heavy whipping cream and cheese but my husband and I loved it.
