SB Success stories

Hi everyone!
I had started Atkins and lost 10lbs, but went way off track over the holidays and regained back most of it. I was thinking of starting SB.I've never tried it before, coz it allows the good carbs like beans which i really love, but i was wondering if SB works as well as Atkins. I'd appreciate input from anyone who has had success with SB or who has tried both.

Hi Carol! Welcome to the Beach!

You will find a lot of big losers with the SBD program on this site. I personally love the program. I lost over 100 pounds with it. I went from a size 26 jeans to a size 10 in about 15 months! I have lost over 100 inches and gone from being very sendentary to working out at the gym 5 days per week and doing some workouts on the weekends too.

The food is delicious! I enjoy eating whole wheat breads, cereals and crackers, lots of fruit and veggies too. We can even enjoy brown and long grain converted rice. I think SBD combines the best of both worlds in allowing the whole grains but cutting out the refined carbs. If you are wondering whether you should come on over to the Beach, I say, "come on in, the water's fine!" I don't think you'll regret doing this program at all. The first two weeks is similar to Atkins induction where you cut out carbs completely and then add them back in slowly in Phase 2.

If you have any specific questions, just ask away. The ladies here are very friendly and extremely helpful! Let us know if you decide to join us. We would love to have you!!!

I'm another big loser from eating the South Beach way. I have made this way of eating a way of life plan now and have rid myself of diabetes 2 and high blood pressure. I started in Jun of 03 at 350 pounds and would never think now of eating any other way.

to the beach! It's a great place to hang out.

Thanks so much ladies for sharing. I read more of the book today and i decided that i will start SB. It sounds really good and healthy and sustainable. I just hope i make it through the first two weeks. The other phases sem okay. I also plan to get back to regular exercise. I've been off track for 3 months now, but i was regular before that.

Carol - glad to hear you will be joining us. This program is very doable. We look forward to getting to know you. By the way, if you would like to join our "Get Your Kix in 2006 Challenge" for more accountability, please sign up or just start posting on the weekly thread. Take care and let us know how Phase 1 is going for you. The first 4-6 days were the hardest for me then it got much easier once the bad carbs were out of my system.

to the Beach. Personally, I love this plan and it has taught me so much. I did Weight Watchers three years ago and lost 31 pounds in six months - but - they never taught me how to get rid of the white flour, sugar, etc. I was losing weight and felt pretty good most of the time, but I'm sure the food I was eating was wreaking havoc on my system. I did Atkins briefly and never really lost that much weight. Who knows, maybe it was me....

I feel that this is a very smart way of eating and it really does get rid of the cravings. Good luck to you and Happy New Year!
