I know black eyed peas are for phase 2

but is there any way it'd be ok just for a lil meal on phase 1? Its tradition in my family to eat black eyed peas on New Years Day! (my mom always did it and I love Black Eyed Peas)

Hey Liz,

I feel like I have a devil on one shoulder and an angel on the other so I may not be of much help to you. On the one hand I say go for it. The whole you only live once thing and it's tradition. But on the other hand, I say, you'll feel so much better and so proud of yourself if you stick to the full two week "detox" period. I was always of the philosophy of being cheat free when I was in the strict weight loss phase. You have to ask yourself some soul searching questions like would you feel bad over this little indulgence? I know I probably would beat myself up over it and feel guilty and eating a few peas would come with a whole lot of other baggage that I really don't want and that's probably why I was so strict with myself. But being pretty close to goal now, I have indulged in a few things like corn bread recently and it was so good and well worth it to me but no I wouldn't have indulged if I had a lot of weight to lose.

I told you I probably wouldn't be of much help to you. Sorry!

Btw, my mom always served black eyes peas, fish and greens on New Year's Eve when we were growing up!

Please let us know what you decide to do, 'kay?

Isn't Marva just great! She always has the "skinny" on what we can have and what we can't have. So looks like there's no need for you to have to do battle with yourself. Enjoy your black eyed peas and your family tradition!!!!
