Exercise Thread for the week of December 26-31, 2005

Good Tuesday morning everyone!

Well, this is it. The last official exercise thread for the year 2005. As I look back on this year I am amazed at the progress I have made physically. I've had a few set backs with weight gain but know I'd be a lot bigger and probably need bigger sizes if it wasn't for all the working out I do. This year I have accomplished some good things things including joining a gym, working out 6-7 days per week, adding some variety to my work outs and upping my weights with strength training.

In 2006 I look forward to some new challenges including training for the Disney 1/2 marathon in January of 2007, contininuing my gym membership and making it my goal to work out there each day of the week, doing more ball work outs and tighting and toning the sagging and bagging areas of my skin. Most important though, I want 2006 to be the year I focus on overall good health. Losing weight and inches and fitting into smaller clothing sizes are by-products of a healthy lifestyle. I don't want this to be a passing fancy. I want to continue to incorporate exercise into my everyday life for the rest of my life.

I hope each of us finds our inner athelete this coming year. If you haven't decided to join us, please come on over and sign up for the 2006 challenge. We would love to have you!

Monday, I took a rest day. Today I did a 25 minute Core Secrets ball work out with heavy weights. At the gym later this morning I'm running on the treadmill for 20 minutes and then taking a 15 minute extreme abs class.

Please share with us what you plan on doing today to get your beautiful body moving! We wanna know!!!

Just back from the gym. I did about 30 minutes on the treadmill (running for 22 minutes straight - woot!!) and then an extreme abs class; adding the 25 minute core secrets ball and strength training video from this morning, that's about 70 minutes of exercise today! Woohoo!!

Would love to hear from others that are moving and shaking their booties today!

Lisa, I'm so glad you keep this thread going! You are just awesome and training for a marathon, wow!

I'm ashamed to say I have a couple of the Core Secrets tapes and haven't even opened the boxes or gotten the ball out.

I'm moving, lol.........went the the gym yesterday and got in some treadmill. Hoping to do the same today!

Hi Marva - I love keeping up with the exercise challenge thread. It keeps me motivated. I love sharing what I do and hope that others will make 2006 a year to get moving. I feel so much more fit than I think I would if I didn't work out and I want everyone to experience this type of freedom. I'm pretty excited about the marathon. I have been wanting do to it for a couple of years but kept talking myself out of it. That's just so silly. I have found though that most of my obstacles have been mental and not physical so once I realized the only thing keeping me from doing this was me, I got fired up about it!

Great job getting your exercise in! Hey, you should give the Core Secrets videos a try. I wasn't too taken with that Gunnar guy at first but he is growing on me. I feel my core getting stronger each and every time I do one of his tapes. I also love the ball, it's so much fun to master it. Sometimes I imagine I'm riding a bucking broncho. You will work your glutes for sure along with the abs trying to stabalize yourself on the ball but it's so worth it!!!

Hi All! I just finished my Walk Away The Pounds for Abs (2 miles) and did about one minute on my elliptical. I'm headed in to take a shower now and do 25 crunches on my exercise ball.

Stephanie - great job on the exercise! Don't you just love your stability ball? I won't get a chance to work out at the gym today but I'm going to be spending some quality time tonight with my stability ball. I think I'll do 20 minutes of a lower body work out and then a 10 minute ab routine. Thanks for the inspiration!!!!

anj - I agree! I love to see the exercise thread so busy and hopefully with the new year more ladies will be committed to getting their bodies in shape. Good job on your exercise so far this week. I've been slacking a little and I'm taking some vacation time next week so being off my regular schedule makes working out harder but I'm determined!

pir - you'll love having your own music to work out to in the gym. I know I couldn't run as long as I do on the treddie without my music blasting in my ear from my ipod!

Today I plan on going to the gym at lunch and doing some running on the treadmill and then doing the extreme abs class.

Have a great Thursday ladies!!!

ran 4 miles with some walking in between so 5 miles total. Then I tried a class which said it was pilates, but was nothing of the sort. Lots of stuff on the bosu ball and other things I've never done before. I have no balance so I kept falling over.

Everyone is doing great!

raptureready - no problem! Let me know if you get the book and what you think of it.

anj - Wow! You ran for 4 miles. You are my work out hero. I ran yesterday for about 20 minutes but apparently my pace was pretty slow because my work out buddy walked at a brisk pace and even though we were on the treadmills for the same amount of time, her distance was 2 miles and mine was only 1.75 miles. I gotta step up my pace a bit!

Today is the last work out day of the year for me. Saturdays are my rest days. I plan on going to the gym and doing some powerwalking/running on the treadmill and doing the extreme abs class. That abs class was hard yesterday. It's not usually so bad but she really worked us. I hope we have the "easy" abs instructor today!

Have a great work out today ladies!!!! I'll be thinking of you all as I huff and puff along on the treadmill!

I ran 4 miles today, alternating b/t 5 and 6 mph. I've never ran at 6mph before, so it was an accomplishment for me. I finished my 5 days of exercise for the week, but I'd like to do something tomorrow because I usually do better eating when I work out. Tomorrow being New Years Eve will hard, so I can use all the help I should get.

How is everyone else doing?

I've had really good workouts the last two days. I am loving my MP3 player. I haven't felt so great, but don't think it is a cold so I worked out hoping that sweating would help. I did a bunch of ab crunches yesterday. I am feeling it just a little today. I am hoping that I won't be sore tomorrow. My gym is closed the next two days, but I plan on doing my aerobics tape in the morning before I leave for my out-of-town date tomorrow night . Woo hoo! I'll be back in the gym on a regular basis starting monday!
