***Get Your Kix in 2006*** Sign Up Thread (come on in!!)
Alrighty everyone, I wanted to make a separate "official" sign up post to keep everything organized and for those that do not make it to the daily check-in thread.
If you are interested in joining this new challenge, it will start on January 1st and will run in 3 month increments. I proclaim the year 2006 as the year we will ALL get to goal on this here Beach! No woman (or man) will be left behind with excess pounds to lose by the time we hit December 31, 2006. Personally, I would like to take off 20 pounds but more important to me than a number on the scale is fitting into size 8's. That's my ultimate goal. I'm going to buy myself a pair of non-strech jeans in size 8 from Walmart or somewhere else inexpensive and my goal will be to fit into those jeans. The weight on the scale doesn't tell the whole story about where you are but a size 8 jeans speaks volumes! I'm even going to change my stats to reflect size and not weight. I think that will help keep me motivated since I have become such a slow loser the closer to goal I get. So if you are ready to stop playing around with your weight loss and get serious and if you are ready to make 2006 YOUR year - join our challenge and GET YOUR KIX IN 2006! All you have to do is list at least 5 areas that you are going to focus on in 2006 to help you get to goal. You can list how many pounds you want to lose or what pant/dress size you are going for if that helps you out. I'll get us started: zeraspride (aka Lisa) 5 areas: 1 - EAT MORE VEGGIES 2 - WORK OUT 6 DAYS PER WEEK FOR ONE HOUR PER DAY 3 - EAT SMALLER PORTIONS AND WATCH CALORIES 4 - STOP LATE NIGHT EATING 5 - POST ON THESE BOARDS FREQUENTLY 6 - GO BACK TO BEING TOTALLY CHEAT FREE How I plan to keep my eyes on the prize: make sure I have "legal" snacks around, not waiting too many hours in between meals to eat, buying a pair of "goal" jeans to monitor my progress and thinking positive thoughts by replacing negative thoughts with positive affirmations about myself. Okay, who's next?

Welcome Marva! I knew you'd be the first to sign up. I hope others want to join in too. I am so tired of being "almost" there. I want goal! Not that I think once I get there I can rest on my laurels. I know I will have to keep working the rest of my life to maintain good health and I'm okay with that but I want to get to the maintaining and quit fooling around. Anyway, glad to have you joining me!!!

It's so nice to have you ladies joining me. I was hoping I wouldn't be alone!!!! I am so excited!!! This is truly going to be our year. How could it not be? We are in such good company!
I read a post on the ML where one (or maybe a few) of the ladies bought herself a "goal" ring. I love that idea and found the perfect one for me. It's platinum with diamonds and emeralds (emerald is my birthstone). It isn't outrageously expensive but it costs enough to really feel like it's something special and just for me! I have been looking at pics of it on the net and having this little carrot dangling in front of me is really motivational! Again, so glad to have you all joining me and hope we get more takers as the next three weeks fly by. I also intend to stay as focused as possible these next few weeks and make sure I stay either right where I am with my weight or lose a pound or 2 before we get started. I'm looking forward to our challenge! |

My goals for December 31, 2006:
1. To be at goal weight of 175 2. To be healthier than what I started out at on December 31, 2005 My 5 focus areas: 1. Exercise 30 minutes a day - even if it's just a walk 2. Portion Control 3. No Cheating! 4. Water EVERY day - starting at 64oz and working my way to half my body weight in ounces 5. Start & maintain a journal I've been lurking in the SB forum for a couple of weeks now and have decided to do South Beach again. I've got roughly 50lbs to lose to get to goal and can't wait to get started. Thanks for starting this thread Lisa!

Yeehawww! I'm in too and am not screwing around anymore. I went to the store last night and stocked up on spring mix lettuce, carb well dressings with the south beach logo on them, reduced fat cheese. We already had a ton of eggs in the house (we buy a 5-dozen pack from Costco). I'm drinking my coffee and having my two soft-boiled eggs. As far as water goes, I drink AT LEAST five quarts per day, so that's not an issue with me.
My goals: 1.) 168 by March 25, 2006 (the 8-year anniversary of my hubby's and my first date)-this is 10% of my current weight 2.) Reach goal of 145 or 150 by June/July 2006 3.) Have a salad every day 4.) No late night snacking 5.) Exercise at least four days a week for 30 minutes on either my treadmill, elliptical or exercise DVDs. ![]()

I'm in and starting today even though I've got one more holiday meal to get through. I have the new South Beach Diet Quick and Easy cookbook. I plan to stay on phase one. Fruits and grains tend to make me have cravings.

I'm so glad to have you all joining in on this challenge. This is going to be our year. There is no reason why each of us cannot achieve our weight loss/health goals. I know personally, I've fallen into the trap of getting complacent. No more of that! I'm so close to goal and I don't intend to be sitting around whining this time next year saying I "still" have 10 pounds to lose!
Welcome to the challenge!!!! Come what happens to us in life this year, the one thing we do have control over is what we put in our mouths, what we think about ourselves and if we will move our bodies! |

I would like to switch over to SB as well, this is my New Years goal to try a new plan. Seems like through the choices, SB seems something maybe I can stick with a bit better compared to the Zone ( Doc recommends this, but too much measuring, etc for my bizzi lifestyle)
2006 Resolutions and Goals: 1. Begin an exercise program that includes wt lifting for wt loss AT LEAST 3 days a week, increasing to 5 days a week as my stamina and strength builds up 2. NO MORE TEA! I made the switch, altho very hard from sweet McD's tea to unsweet, but now its still an addiction thats bad for me, as I dont drink enough water. I am chronically dehydrated ! So more water and lots less tea in 2006. 3.Planning meals and snacks ahead of time to keep me on track, very important. 4. Reach a weight loss goal of 50 lbs by June, hopefully more !

All right, we're on board!
1. Get more (enough!) sleep. 2. Cut back on the SF/LC candy/treats. 3. At least two full 1 hour Callanetics programs a week, with short programs on the other days. We also need to add some light weight work for our arms. 4. Post our menus every day and create more variety and interesting recipes! 5. (for Mom) Cut out the late night snacking. 5. (for Emily) Truly dedicate myself to doing the training I need for my dancing. I want to step up a notch in competition and win higher awards for my solo, but I still have to convince myself to do what is necessary to become a better competitive dancer! ![]()

I joined earlier but never posted my goals, so here they are.
First, I am proud of myself because by Christmas Eve I lost all the weight I had gained since last Christmas! 16 pounds to go to get back to my lowest adult weight. 1) Weight 169 by April 17, 2006 2) Exercise at least 5 days a week, increasing time and variety 3) Get a little more sleep, even though I love chatting with my best friend online at night 4) Drink 100oz of water a day 5) Avoid unnecessary stress. Try not to over commit myself 6) Post here regularly

I'm in too
I'm ready to start too! It's been forever since I've checked out this board and needless to say food has been out of control for about a year. I'm definitely sick and tired of being sick and tired. My 5 goals (for starters)
1. no sugar! 2. portion control 3. exercise at least 3 times a week 4. no late night eating 5. be prepared - plan meals and have good food on hand |
