Holiday Eating Strategies

I believe the best way to get through an eating frenzy, such as holidays, is to plan ahead! Let's share our strategies, and all be prepared!

On Thanksgiving, my main strategies is to pick one favorite food, and eat a small portion, so I don't feel deprived.

Dessert: I can make a SF Pumpkin Cheesecake (from the reciepe room) and be satisfied, no problem.
Cranberries: We make a homemade cranberry relish, raw minced cranberries with apples, oranges, nuts, celery and Jello. Splenda instead of the sugar, and SF Jello, and I can eat that.
Sweet Potatoes: I love em baked, and won't miss the sweet marshmallow goo!

That said, I plan my one endulgence to be homemade noodles. I will limit it to a reasonable amount.

What are your Strategies??? Please Share!

I am just planning on having a lc dessert for me, I will still bake the regular ones for the group (I am the baker in the family).
I will probably eat the turkey, salad, some beans, maybe a piece of sweet potato. I'll skip on the rice or starchy stuff. If I cheat, it will be on desserts so I need to be prepared.
Can you share the recipe for the cranberry relish. It sounds delish

Cranberry Relish
1 bag cranberries (wash, remove any that are soft)
3/4 c Splenda
1 box SF Jello Raspberry or Cherry
2 stalks celery, chopped small
1/4 c chopped walnuts
1 small apple
1 small orange

Put cranberries in food processor, or grinder. Chop fine. Chop apple and orange as well. Mix all fruits with the Splenda. In a separate bowl, mix Jello with the amount of hot water listed on box. Do NOT add the cold water. Mix in with the fruit. Add nuts and celery, and refridgerate till set. Enjoy!

My Thanksgiving will be at my son's and his girlfriend is so nice about making sure I have what I can eat that we go over the menu and then I just stick to the basics of some turkey a sweet potato and what ever vegetable that she is serving. More than likely it will be green beans. The other stuff doesn't bother me as long as I have the simple stuff.

I agree Denise.....If you fail to plan, then you plan to fail, nutrition experts say. Thanks for the recipe.

I've planned to have turkey, ham, veggies and sweet potatoes. I've bought a sf cheesecake and have asked the others to fix whatever sweets and sides they want as I'm opting out on that. I will be fixing the dressing and do plan to eat some of that. I'm also planning a fruit salad with yogurt dressing.

We decided to have the dinner at dh's homeplace with a couple his brothers and families. That way I can leave when I want and not be so tempted with leftovers.

I am going to fill my plate with raw veggies and a slice of turkey, as I will be in Phase 1 it will be tricky. I plan on chewing on sugar free gum as soon as I finish my dinner so that I won't pick at more food or indulge in dessert.

I will be bringing some SF low carb things to add to my mil table so if she doesn't cook too much I can eat I will have options. I agree planning is the key.
