New Person here :), i have a ? for you all

Hello . I am on day 16 of this diet and have lost 6 and 1/2 lbs. It has been suprisingly easy so far. This is actually a two part ?. Where can i find some good vegetarian low carb recipies ? Any books any of you recommend with great recipies ?
Secondly, my husband and i have agreed that when we hit our target weights, we will have one "free" day a week, where we can eat pretty much what we want, within reason of course, but not really worry about carbs. I am not worried about that leading to falling off the wagon, because we keep close checks on eachother. I am just concerned that spiking our blood sugr once a week may not be a good idea for our health. Any knowledge about this anyone ? Thanks !

virgo. Congrats on your weight loss, that's great. Yes, actually 3 phases, 1-2 and 3 which is maintenace. A couple of our members are vegetarians, I'm sure they'll chime in on helping you there but a lot of our recipes are veggies only.

Not much help on the blood sugar spike either but I do want to welcome you, jump right in and join in on all the threads, this is a great bunch of supporters!

Hi there.

Are you vegetarians or just looking for some meatless recipes?

As far as a free day goes ---

Everyone goes off plan now and then. Sometimes by plan, sometimes by accident. If you hop right back on the next day, it usually doesn't do much damage as far as weight loss goes.

Would there be any medical issues for you such as blood sugar, liver, gallbladder?

Some people do what is called "carb cycling," by having a day of higher carbs. (Good carbs, of course, not bad ones!)

In my experience, going way off plan for one day takes me about a month to recover. Also, I feel really rotten afterwards...tired, cranky, etc. Life is about choices. I have to ask if this particular choice is worth the consequences. I don't want to be in a position to have to tell myself that I never can have a piece of birthday cake, but I know that I must prepare well ahead. I could never do this once a week.

Depending upon how long it takes you to get to maintenace, you might discover that you don't want a bunch of junk on a regular basis anyway!

I'm trying to find a gentle way to say that you have really answered your own question here.

:)

Yes you are probably right . I think it may be tough, my hubby is going to want that day, i know that for sure ! Well, i will cross that bridge when i get to it. I just wish that more restaurants had options. I mean how many salads can a girl eat ! I can see how just preparing food at home becomes the safest, and honestly most unlimited choice. I mean even the local pub that has fantastic salads does not even offer whole grain bread on the side ? just foccacia and sourdough ! Thanks for the info. By the way, i am not vegetarian, just looking for a way to eat less meat. I am going to get some cookbooks oss amazon.com.
