You CAN Exercise on Campus!

Are you struggling to fit exercise into your busy college schedule? Don't worry, you're not alone. Many college students find it next to impossible to make room for fitness between studying and a busy social life. So how do you stay fit at school?

Walking wins. Walking to class provides the energy pickup you need in order to stay alert during lectures and the aerobic activity to stay in shape. And don't limit your strolls to academic hours. Walk to meals, to visit friends, and to extracurricular activities. (Just don't walk alone at night if you're not sure it's safe.) Aim to walk at least 20 minutes a day, five days a week.

Get sporty. The physical prerequisites of a funded college team may be too much, but there are plenty of club sports open to the everyday athlete. From field hockey to volleyball to ultimate Frisbee, anyone can get out and play.

Use the gym. Most colleges offer free entry to the school fitness facility. Here you can swim laps, use cardio equipment, take yoga or Pilates classes, and more.

Exercise: pass or fail. Make exercise unavoidable by adding an athletic class to your schedule. Try your hand at ballroom dancing, golf, or even fencing. Earn credit for staying in shape!
