So I was reading "Good Fats, Good Carbs"...

I was making a grocery list & I noticed that dill pickles are limited (once a week)! Is it because of the salt? Mine have NO sugar, and according to the label, only 2 carbs for a quarter pickle. I love a chunk of pickle with lunch or as a snack.

That is strange since sauerkraut is listed as good.

This is what I could find in a question and answer session....so, I think they're okay if we don't have a problem with the salt. Hope this helps...

Can I Eat Pickles?

Q: Can I eat pickles on The South Beach Diet™?
—John S.

A: You are more than welcome to enjoy cucumber pickles on The South Beach Diet™. Dill pickles are a great choice—just be sure to avoid any that have been packed in sugar. Read the ingredients before you purchase your pickles.

Pickles are low in calories and make a great crunchy, salty snack. They probably won't do much to fill you up, however. If you're looking for a snack to tide you over until your next meal, you're better off eating something with a bit of protein (like a low-fat cheese stick or a handful of nuts). If you're simply craving something salty, then by all means have a pickle, but try not to overdo it—pickles do contain a lot of salt. If you're on a salt-restricted diet, you may want to consult your doctor before diving into the pickle jar.

Thanks Marva! Very helpful!

I'll feel better about snacking on a pickle once in a while. I do need to watch the salt though. So I'll keep the portion small.
