Starting today!

Hi!

Today is my first day on the Beach! I have a lot to lose, so I'm excited to get started. DH will be joining me & he's already grumbling about turkey bacon and low fat cheese, but he'll get over it.

I'm looking forward to getting to know all of you!

Thanks for the welcomes! We wanted to start last week but had unexpected guests from out of town, and I didn't want to try SB until I could focus fully. I get a little obsessive till I know what I'm doing. Anyway, I'm glad to be here and getting started!

I love this way of living! And here's a good one for you:

I have actually learned to like turkey bacon better than pork!!

Can't wait to get to know you better! Chris

Jennifer, I do believe I'll give this a serious go, too. I did Atkins a couple years back. But I always felt this was a much more balanced and healthier way of eating.

But where to start? It's been a while since I read the book and I know there have been changes. I have the edible and non-edibles for phase 1 listed on the fridge. Eggs and tomato juice for breakfast. Salad, veggies and meat for lunch and supper. And water, water, water... mixed with a little cider vinegar? That's ol' Vermont folk medicine from back before my time.

Hi TeJae & good luck! I did really well on Atkins, then went off and gained almost all of my weight back. I think SBD seems healthier too. My mom is an RN and she was always wary about the saturated fat on Atkins, even though her cholesterol did go down. My DH carries all his weight in his belly and SBD is supposed to target that first. He's turning 40 in a couple of years, so he really needs to get rid of it! I want him to be around for me to aggravate for a long, long tme.

Good idea having the food list on your fridge. Your plan looks good. Apple cider vinegar in water seems to be a trend around here. I'm going to pick some up next time I go to Whole Foods.

Good luck getting back on track!
