Apple Cider Vinegar
After Mtgrl post about the good results of vinegar and diabetes and blood sugar, it sounded awesome, and theres more........A couple of us have begun experimenting with it.
This is what is on the Bragg website..... These days, apple cider vinegar can be found as a staple in millions of household kitchens worldwide. There are so many unknown uses for this powerful cleansing and healing agent! The versatility of vinegar is legendary and is proven to help keep the body healthy, youthful, and ageless! It was used by the Egyptians in 3000 BCE, as well as the Babylonians, and Julius Caesar's army used vinegar tonic to stay healthy and fight off disease. Hippocrates, in 400 BC, treated his patients with apple cider vinegar The Greeks and Romans kept vinegar vessels for healing and for flavoring and preserving food. In Paris, vinegar was sold by the barrel and used for deodorant and for a delicious tonic drink to keep the body ageless. Even Christopher Columbus took vinegar barrels for his sailors on his long sea travels to prevent scurvy and disinfect wounds. Most people don't know how wonderful vinegar is. Its cleansing properties are known to aid digestion by stimulating the flow of enzymes and saliva in the mouth. Vinegar has been shown to support a healthy heart. Vinegar can do everything from relieving muscle pain from exercise, balancing pH levels, soothing sore throats, and normalizing weight and helping to maintain levels of cholesterol already in the normal range. Externally, it is effective in supporting healthy skin and hair. Use it topically to give yourself a vinegar facial for toning or clearing up non-cystic acne and exfoliating dry dull skin. Gently rub your skin with a soft cotton ball dipped in vinegar and watch your skin glow! It's also great for animals-use it as a soothing after-bath rinse for cats and dogs to eliminate dry skin. Just as with people, it is also helpful in older animals. The high acidity and powerful enzymes in apple cider vinegar also supports a healthy scalp. Try a rinse of apple cider vinegar after you wash your hair. It gives hair incredible shine and bounce! It's so easy to incorporate vinegar into your daily diet. When you wake up in the morning just make a delicious cocktail using 2 teaspoons of raw, organic apple cider vinegar, and if you need a sweetener, use organic honey, 100% maple syrup, or molasses to taste (***we beachers would proabaly use splenda or the like***). If you are diabetic, use the sweet substitute stevia. I recommend you use only distilled water. This "Bragg Healthy Cocktail" is designed to flush out wastes that are clogging the organs of elimination, the bowels, lungs, skin, and the kidneys. Take it at least twice a day, and you will start to see changes like increased energy, soft skin, and decreased muscle and joint aches from exercise. Make sure you use raw, organic vinegar, never dead, distilled vinegar because the natural enzymes, minerals, and nutrients are destroyed in the distilling process. Any vinegar that is clear and has no "mother" (the strand-like substance in the bottom of the bottle) has no nutritional value. Natural raw vinegar should be pungent, with a rich, brownish color and avisible "mother." Drinking apple cider vinegar daily, and eating a largely fresh, organic, vegetarian diet, along with following a simple fitness program, will change your life so dramatically you will never go back to your old ways! Get fit, get healthy, and live a long and happy life! |

Hi. I can tell you that ACV is everything advertised! My husband uses it regularly to keep his body PH stable. Since it is so useful, it is easy to lose sight of all the benefits. Since we are drinking all this water, it should be easy to get the vinegar down.

Great, thanks for the input Barbara. I agree about the water.
I just measured and I'm also down a 1/2 inch in my waist. ![]() I'm reading from a booklet by Cyril Scott called Cider Vinegar, Nature's great health-promoter and safest cure of obesity , he says he has no financial interest in Apple Cider Vinegar and that one can get it in health food stores and also that the Heinz brand is suitable because they are made from whole cider apples......that's good news. |

Hi all, Be aware that Heinz makes an apple cider flavored vinegar that is not real apple cider vinegar. In fact, that is all you can find in our area. It caught me once, so I use it for cleaning hard water spots.
Be sure you are using the real thing. Look for the mother in the bottle.Emily's Mom |

Emily's Mom, how much does your dh take? Maybe we'll get the how to down on this.
This guy writing the book says to fix 2 t in a glass of water and sip with your meals, don't gulp it down like a tonic. I kind of doubt the Heinz here would have the mother either, I've never noticed any sediment in the bottles. I hope Sharon comes on and chimes in soon! |

Well, he's not one to measure
, but I'd say his splash is a generous tablespoon in a large glass of water. He doesn't use the honey, and just drinks it down instead of sipping, morning and night. The Braggs website will have lots of info. Also, it keeps his joints from hurting. We live in a very rural area and lots of our elderly library patrons swear by it. A spoonful will stop heartburn in it's tracks and also they use it for arthritis. |

Here I am and I have good news with a pound down as well Marva. I think I have the wrong type of ACV now after reading your posts so I will have to check out Trader Joe's and look for the Mother sediment. I don't have a problem drinking it with my water intake so will keep putting 3 Tbs into 50 oz of water so I will be getting 6 Tbs. daily. I'm finding that it is helping me with my portions but I'm drinking it most of the time instead of just at meal times.
Take care and keep glugging! ![]()

_______________ I saw that on television about natural cures. A lot of doctors will give you a pill for acid reflex or heartburn but the vinegar is suppose to help that and a deficiet or something like that your body has and it puts it in there and helps. I remember my mom warming it up and giving it to me in a tablespoon and drink it straight, when I was little and sick and thought she was crazy. I guess she does know something! LOL! I don't think I would rinse my hair in it. I think it would stink? I rather smell like flowers! LOL! Do you only get the apple cider vinegar in the health food stores? Janet |

Hi Janet---I can get it only at a health food store. Some supermarkets that have a health food section will have it. Braggs is the best known, Spectrum is another good brand, some health food stores will carry Tree of Life, which is a disributor's in house brand. All are good. I've been having heel pain so bad I can hardly walk for several days--sure has thrown a crink in my walking program--so I am starting back on it tonight and see what hapens.

Thanks so much for the information on what type to buy and going to run to trader Joes. Heel pain? I get that too when walking long distance. Not even buying expensive tennis shoes works with little inserts. I get that heel pain so bad if I walk around 7 miles that I have to stand tippy toes to walk in the middle of the night or in the morning when I get up. I feel your heel pain! I hope it does work for that!

SEVEN MILES???!!!
I Feel like a hero when I get in three. Yup, got the tippy toe part down. I have had inserts for years, but this just started a couple of weeks ago. Have you had the problem diagnosed and given a name? Do you just walk on? This has made my leg, hip, and back hurt.Emily's Mom |

_________________ No, I haven't been to the foot doc yet. Mine doesn't hurt when doing my exercising and walking right then. Only when I stop moving and later on that evening does it start hurting. Sometimes I wonder if going to a chiropractor would help that like I might be out of alignment? I can also get the tingling from the hip down the front of my thigh too. What does help only a little bit for me is standing on the stairs with the front part of toes (1/2 foot) on the stair and stand on tip toes then move the heel down and do that back and forth to stretch out the foot before going on my walk/jogs. I am going to give it a bit more time before going into the doctor for it. It has prevented me from exercising the following day. I have heard of heel spurs that kind of mimic this too. I had the same thing a long time ago and never had it again, but years ago the doc gave me inserts that they take a cast of your foot and make it and better than any store you can buy from and it did work and did not have a problem until a few months ago again. The cheap inserts does not work for me. Janet |

Thanks, Janet
I'm thinking heel spurs, in which case the vinegar should take care of it. It will be interesting to see. My foot hurts when walking and then even worse after I've been sitting for a while and then step on it again. I think a visit to the chiro. would be a good idea for me, because I know I'm out of alignment now. |

I'm hear to report that last night was no late night eating and being curious I weighed this morning and I'm another pound down on the scale. I think acv is helping with my portion control along with letting go of the oatmeal peanut butter breakfast. I'm heading out but wanted you all to know that acv is working miracles over here at my house!
Have a great perfect day everyone! Bye for now.. ![]() |

Dh and I just got in from the health fair, glad we got our flu shots and blood work done. BP was good too!
I'm down around another 1/2 lb too Sharon, I don't have digital scales so I go by the lb marks, but I'm definitely down a little more. Looks like our ph must have been off . Anyway, yah on another lb down! ![]() |

This is going to sound really dumb, but where would I look for SAS shoes? Is that a separate shoe store or would they be in a dept. store We live so far away from shopping--it's at least an hour to a town with any stores other that Wal-mart. I'm not a mall person--it's been nine years since I've been to one (I'm not kidding). I buy from Land's End or LL Bean's sale catalog. Tee shirts, etc, from Wal-mart. Thanks for the info.

Just thought I'd bring this back up to let you all know that I'm still putting acv in my drinking water and having fantastic results. Since I have started I've been averaging a pound a day loss. I've not had one problem with the taste in fact I like it better drinking my water as it has a taste now. LOL It's amazing how much better I feel I don't have that diet drink craving now and can make it through the night without snacking. It's working and keeping me right on program without overeating.
