Halloween/Christmas Challenge - Week of 9/19
Good morning challengers!
I hope everyone is thinking of setting good goals this week! "If you start moving your body, your mind will follow! Denise Austin With this thought in mind, my goal for this week is to exercise - 3 x 10 minutes daily, minimum. An old habit began creeping back in, trying to make me a couch potato again. Wishing for a week of One Perfect Days for all of us! Ready.....set goal, everyone join in! Our ongoing journey - Nearer to goal - Halloween on our way to our ultimate goal for Christmas. To make a short story long, here's what the challenge is about: no specific rules, make your own.. ****************************** Our hope here is that we will all see wonderful changes in ourselves by Christmas. Let's pick a personal goal...one that you keep to yourself and then surprise everyone with at the end...your christmas present to you!" Quoting Dr.Phil.... "Don't just set vague goals like, "I want to lose some weight." Be specific: How much weight do you want to lose? How do you want to feel? Close your eyes and visualize yourself after you've reached those goals. Use this visualization to feel commitment and inner strength. Be sure to move toward a positive goal, not just away from being fat. Every step you take will bring you closer to being who you want to be. We had some good ideas for support in our 4th of July Countdown Challenge which could be incorporated in this challenge for support too: ....pick or add your personal challenge numbers that will help you this week..... 1. eat clean, go for .......One Perfect Day! 2. make good choices/eating P1 or P2 3. begin exercising/maintain current exercise and/or add something to your existing plan 4. drink more water 5. set a night time eating curfew 3 hours prior to bedtime 6. set a tentative weight loss number 7. work at managing stress and staying positive 8. no weighing/or weighing only on specific days 9. cut back on artificial sweeteners 10. eat more fiber 11. watch portion sizes 12. stop thinking negatively when the scale doesn't cooperate 13. try to post at least once daily to our SBD forum 14. drink more tea and less diet soda 15. limit whole grains to 3-4 days per week 16. smile more 17. use food journal 18. Try new whole grain recipes 19. do something daily for yourself even if it's something small 20. really work at learning program, reading and rereading the book |

I've been thinking about my goals. Based on my past weight-loss patterns, I think it is realistic to think that I can reach my goal of 182 by Christmas, as long as I maintain my focus and discipline. I had problems with those things last year, but I was living with my parents (I bought my own house this August) and I didn't have a lot of control over the food that was brought in the house (and I was weak and ate it). I also felt like I had to plan my workouts around their meal schedule, which I did't have to, but it was a respect issue for me. Now, that I have my own place, I have more control over my schedule and complete control of the food that comes into my house.
Goals: 210 by Sept. 23 200 by Oct. 22 190 by Nov. 22 (just in time for Thanksgiving and my b-day) 182 - 180 by Dec. 24 Merry Christmas to me! Several of the ideas Marvi listed are parts of my personal challenge. I definitely plan to make sure I mix up my exercise routine so that I don't get bored and my body doesn't get comfortable. I also need to remain positive when the scale doesn't move, even when I have been so good. Something I found that worked for me before, which I lacked last year, was reading my Bible daily. I found that when I set that time aside for God, He helps me achieve my other goals. Have a great week everyone!

I'm still with you all in this challenge.
I'm back battling the late night demon again. It comes and goes. That is what I will be working on this week. |

My goals for this week are to not get lazy on my water intake...cut back on the diet sodas. I am finding that it helps me to get the water in by drinking decaf iced tea. I enjoy it more and I feel like it benefits me as much as water.
Also, I need to get the exercise going again. Since school started back up, I have been so lazy. I even bought a set of 2 lb. weights to do with my Walk Away the Pounds DVD and I got a cheap pedometer at Walmart. I need to remember to wear that tomorrow so that I can count my steps, but I still need to set my stride length so I need to reread the directions. Those are my two goals for the week. |

Saturday is here and I have already had my 100 oz. of water and 2 sessions on the treadmill. What's up with that!
I had 3 perfect days and nights before I broke the spell and had something to eat last night. Bother!!! This is such a pain as I just can't sleep right with out having something. Hopefully it will leave me alone eventually. I'm not giving up that is for sure. Not going to let it get me down either! Head is back on track now with one perfect day and night.. Take care and have a wonderful weekend.
