*♥*Tuesday Check In*♥* 9/13

Good Morning Beach Babes !!

I hope everyone had a great day yesterday !! It was busy here....a lot of running around.

Today, my 3 yr old has her first full day of preschool. She is very excited. For 2½ hrs I will have nothing to do, LOL. I'll probably run errands.....bank, post office, food shopping.

Looking forward to hearing from everyone today !!

Good morning Reg and everyone else!

Only time for a quick drive by now but I will stop back by later. I wanted to report that today makes 2 days weigh free for me! Yippee!!! I hope to make it to Friday at least. I also want to tell you guys that I had "one perfect day" yesterday and I even managed to eat dinner before 8:00 - another Yippee!!! I was really hungry this morning so I had a nice breakfast and I'm off to get my first mug of water.

Have a great Tuesday everyone and I'll be back later!

Mornin. I'm up temporarily got the kids off on the school bus. Think I'll go crash on the couch as much as I wanna stay up. I've been feelin puny since Sunday and I'm hungry but so sick to my stomach I just wanna go lay down...blech. Hopefully I'll make the right choices today to eat wiser instead of using feeling cruddy to eat comfort foods like I did last nite....geesh....luckily for me every day is a new day to try again!!!!! Hope you all have a wonderful day

I do have one question. We in sbd never go into ketosis do we? Like we did on Atkins? So if not I was wondering what the point of induction is unless its just to break the sugar cravings and addiction?

Morning!! Things going well over here - scale is down 10 pounds in one week which is really ridiculous. DBF says he can already see a difference.
I have a really busy week so have to get myself super organized with food today - planning a trip to the grocery store shortly.

Reg Enjoy your free time!

Zera Woo hoo! I wish I could stop eating that early...

Shanlee I hear you - those comfort foods wreak havoc, don't they? I'm sorry you're feeling cruddy...just drink loads of water and you'll flush that stuff out of your system. About ketosis, I think you're right that we are having slightly higher levels of carbs so we won't reach that, but I think the first couple of weeks are to just get sugars our of our system. I could be wrong...I'm sure someone more experienced with SB will be in here to answer soon! Feel better...

Hello everyone, hugs to all I know and welcome to all new Beachers!

Just a quick check in to let you know I'm well and fine, just doing my SB thing. It's second nature and I try not to think about it all too much. If I'd do that, I'd begin to obsess - and that's not a good thing - for me. Still in SB Zen, nice and calm - and trying to flee my beloved ice cream whenever I can. I do eat a scoop from time to time, but nowhere near the amounts I used to eat, maybe once a week now. Not too bad, fall will be here soon and I'm not a fall/winter ice cream eater.

Weightloss is going ever so slowly now, maybe my body is too used to my 800 to 1000 calories per day eating. I just don't want more these days. Can't believe I just said that.......the woman who weighed in at 220 lbs on 12/17/2004. This morning my weight was at a new low of 157 lbs, only 2 lbs to goal. People tell me I should stop now, but I'm not ready to stop, my second goal is 145. It's true that my face and upper body are very small these days, if there weren't those "thingies" hanging from my upper arms (can you imagine, losing so much weight and then you STILL can't wear those cute little "almost no sleeves" shirts??? Argh!) and some on my belly my upper body could be considered "boney" now (well, almost), but hips and upper thighs? *Totally* different story, I tell ya.

Oh dear, I don't write for a month or two and then you poor people have to read a novel. Stopping now!

P.S. I totally forgot....I don't know anything about American dress sizes, but to give anybody who just begins to beach an idea in jeans sizes: I started in a tight fitting jeans size 36, last Friday I bought a size 28!!! It is stretch, I'm sure I'd need a 29 of non-stretch jeans, but still this is insane guys! Never EVER before in my live have I worn size 28 jeans, maybe as a toddler.

Take care all - and hang in there (!!!),

Morning y'all!

WOW, so good to read what's happening in your lives! I have to make this quick and jump in the shower to get the day going!

I am making these for supper tonight:

Shalom!

I saw Dana Carpender make this on George Stella's Low Carb TV show last week and I'm going to make this at home this evening!

Feta-Spinach Salmon Roast
Recipe courtesy Dana Carpender
Show: Low Carb and Lovin' It
Episode: Quick and Low Carb Easy Gourmet

Recipe Summary
Difficulty: Easy
Prep Time: 10 minutes
Cook Time: 20 minutes
Yield: 2 servings

Ratings and Reviews
User Rating: 5 Stars

I saw something like this being sold for outrageous amounts of money in the fish case at the local grocery store, and I thought, "I can do that!"

3 ounces cream cheese, softened *(I'll use Neufchatel)
3/4 cup crumbled feta *(I'll use reduced fat feta)
2 scallions, thinly sliced, including the crisp part of the green
1/2 cup fresh spinach, chopped
3/4 pound salmon fillets, cut into 2 pieces
Olive oil

Preheat the oven to 350 F degrees.

In a bowl, combine the cream cheese and feta, mashing and stirring with a fork until well blended. Add the scallions and spinach and combine well. Spread the mixture evenly over 1 salmon fillet. (The filling will be about 3/4-inch thick.) Top with the second salmon fillet. Brush both sides with olive oil, turning over carefully with a
spatula, and place on a shallow baking pan. Bake for 20 minutes; test for doneness with a toothpick. To serve, slice carefully with a sharp, serrated knife.

snacks | The spicy taste of these tempting morsels can be addictive.
Not to worry, though. They are light enough to be eaten with abandon.

Ingredients

1 small head cauliflower
1/2 tsp ground cumin
1/2 tsp chili powder, or more to taste
1/2 tsp Kosher salt
1/2 tsp black pepper

Instructions

1. Preheat oven to 400F. Cut cauliflower florets into grape-sized
pieces. (There should be about 4 cups.) Place cauliflower in a medium
bowl; add cumin, chili powder, salt and pepper and toss well to coat.

2. Coat baking sheet with olive oil mist. Spread cauliflower on
sheet and bake until cauliflower is tender, but not mushy, stirring
halfway through, about 10 minutes. Yields about 1/2 cup per serving.

Another quick hi here. I have acupuncture in a few hours, dd has preschool and dh has personal training as soon as I get home so it's going to be a lot of running around again. I started BFL (Body for Life) and love it. I can already se and feel a difference in my body and my my muscles are actually healing better then they used to. I thought I was dying last night doing my bi's and tri's. Actually, the bi's are fine but I hate tricep exercises. They are brutal.

Reg,
Have fun with your free time. My dd also has her first full day of preschool today but I till have my four month old.

Lisa! Congrats. I wish I could go more then a day myself.

Shanlee,
It's possible to go into ketosis on phase 1 if your carbs are low enough but most don't and yes the purpose is to rid our bodies of sugar and to stop the cravings.

Margy! 10 pounds is amazing. Congrats.

u-woman,
You may not be eating enough. My old trainer and many others have said to never go below 1000 and T Venuto from the famous weight training plan (BFFM) says a woman should never go below 1200. I was eating 1200 a day for months and didn't lose a single pound. I started doing Body for Life and I had to increase my calories to 1400-1500 and I dropped 3 pounds my first week and I keep losing weight. I really would make sure to get at least 1200 in.

Isn't that amazing . I had similar results the first week. Stick with P1 for another week and you'll lose a few more as "easily".

I'm sure you know, but during P1 you are losing a lot of water while your cravings decrease. Since I know where you are coming from (similar size) it's great that we can lose so much in a short period of time. This keeps me motivated....and of course wearing jeans that didnt fit last month is an additional bonus

Refresh my memory....have you done SBD before or Atkins?

I think, at times, I do go into ketosis when my carbs are low enough.

Atkins.......we consume super low carbs so we go straight to fat burning mode, but we still have to burn the fat we eat before body fat burning

SBD.....we eat more carbs, less fat, and it probably takes us longer to burn body fat, but there's less fat to burn in our bellies.

That's my take on it......it's all science. But with SBD, we are eating less fat, which is better for cholesterol levels, heart health, etc.

So.....if you have more time, SBD is best. Not the quickest way to lose weight, but IMO the healthier way. And.....if I can eat fruit, popcorn and bread, I'm happier (part of my falling off the Atkins wagon is that I was bored with the food, and cheated....which seems like the case for some Atkin-ers.)

I wish it would stay this easy....heh heh...seven weeks to lose it all! I haven't done SBD before, but did Atkins back in 2001 and then BFL and then....nothing while I drank too much to try to forget that I was married to a horse's bum....then got rid of him and lost weight at the first start of dating again...then met my DBF and got comfy and started eating.... he and his son are kind of couch potatoes as well, so the pounds I lost piled back on again! But, we're back on track now....

Shalom Y'all!

I made the Feta-Spinach Salmon and the Cauliflower Poppers and WOWEEEEEE are they good food!

I (of course) tweaked the Salmon recipe a bit and I really like the results!

I used Neufchatel cheese instead of cream cheese
I used reduced fat Feta
I used more spinach (organic baby spinach leaves)
I added horseradish, pesto, Dijon mustard and garlic to the filling
I sprinkled the salmon with lemon pepper seasoning and did not oil the salmon (I actually made one with oil and the other 2 without and found I didn't need the extra fat)
I cooked the salmon at 425 for 35 minutes and until browned on the outside and flaky inside the salmon.

The Cauliflower Poppers are just awesome! Next time, I'll make 2 or more heads instead of one.

Your recipes sound really good. With the poppers could you use frozen cauliflower? Just curious.

Yah Tina! Good job staying on program.....Thanks Mtgrl and hugs Margy.

Reg, thanks for the support and good info! Dr. A says one can get into ketosis but it's unlikely. I haven't ever seen ketosis even when doing Atkins but I do know I can find a real comfort zone on phase 1 - and slow P 2 with protein and veggies per program and 1 carb item addition. No pink or purple, but satisfied and feeling good. JMO

Hi all -
Well, I'm just checking in. I had another pretty good day. That makes 2. I've been mainly doing P2 and couting calories because I have a really hard time with not being able to eat fruit. I hope everyone is doing well. It seems like there a lot of new people since I've been on here last and I'm looking forward to getting to know you guys.

Just checking in. I am trying to take an easy today my belly has been bothering me I think I have been over doing it around here. I know I was not supposed to vaccum but oh well. I am hanging in on day 3 now. Yesterday was sort of rough cause I was having withdrawls I suppose. The ricotta cheese dessert helped there... oh and I don't know if any of you have tried this or not, but I did not have ricotta cheese I substituted cottage cheese in its place and it was pretty good! Just thought I would share that tid bit. Have a good day everyone!
