Back from vacation....and one question
We all had a great time. I chose not to stay OP while gone this weekend. Weak I know. But it was easier and I was lazy. Anyway. I am going to go back on induction in the morning and restart at least 2 wks of it since technically I only did a couple of perfect days last week. If you guys cheat do you restart your induction as far as counting the days?
Anyway. I was reading the water thread, great info!!!! My question is this. What DOES diet pop do bad for your body IF you are doing caffeine free and splenda as the sweetener vs aspartame? I have NO clue what it does bad to you and would LOVE for someone to enlighten me so I'd have a good reason to stop it.....LOL....I can't do it without a good reason. I am a diet coke addict. I hate water. But I make myself drink my alotted amt usually with a little DaVinci's in it to flavor or I think I might die sometimes. I'm trying to like it tho!!!!! I'd love the pop info tho!!!!!

Glad you had a good time Shanlee, just jump back on. There may be times after induction that you'll probably go back to P1 until you regain control.
Water... There are many that have good info on this but until they post, this is my take. I agree the water info is great and I also enjoy a diet coke ever so often, but too much really can be harmful. The caffeine free with splenda isn't quite as bad for you as the alternative but we all know water is better and it's cheap and it is a choice we make for our health. Sodas contain sodium and too much is bad for you, plus your body has to process the chemicals but the main thing I've read that is bad is that soft drinks contain high levels of phosphorus. It seems it's especially not good for women and children. It causes a depletion of calcium from our bones and teeth. Seems it's mainly in the dark colas and fizzy types. Be sure to check for it in the ingredients of your drink of choice. Another thing, artificial sweetened foods and drinks can sometimes cause weight loss stalls and also spike cravings for sweets. The SBD info is water and..... BEVERAGES Decaf Coffee and Tea Diet, decaffeinated, sugar-free sodas and drinks Herbal teas (peppermint, chamomile, etc.) Milk (1% or fat-free) and soymilk (low-fat plain). See MILK/DAIRY. Sugar-free powdered drink mixes Vegetable Juice Note: caffeinated coffee or diet sodas with caffeine added are allowed, but limited to 1 - 2 servings per day. Good luck, hope this helps... it looks like you're working on a solution! |

Shannon ....I too am a diet soda addict. In the past I would drink a whole 2 liter bottle a day
. I know water is better for me, but I literally HATE it. But, I'm trying.....pushing 60oz of water a day MINIMUM, and trying to cut back to 2 cans of soda a day. The cans arent as cost effective, but I can at least keep track that way. If I can cut back, anyone can......again, I'm an addict ![]() |

Diet Soda:
Bad for your teeth-- carbonated drinks erode tooth enamel Extremely acidic--linked to esophageal cancer Drinks high in phosphorus deplete calcium Several studies have shown that drinkers of diet sodas actually end up gaining weight. In fact, drinking diet sodas can more than double your risk of obesity. Artificial sweeteners can fool your brain into thinking you have ingested sugar. The sweet sensation causes your brain to react as if you have eaten "energy" in the form of sugar and instructs the liver to start storing. When the "food" is not found, the brain signals hunger. Therefore cravings! Drinking soda usually replaces drinking healthful drinks, such as milk, juice, and WATER. Since we won't be drinking juice and milk is limited, let's just say WATER. Etc,etc, etc ![]()
